1. If there is a fire on an oil rig it's an immediate evacuation which takes less than 5 minutes they almost never have deaths or injuries due to fire. The reason the careers are so short is the physically demanding nature as well as it pays so well alot of them don't do it long term as well as they are not on the oilrig full time it's always in terms from 3 months to 18 months
Most people just leave the oil rig jobs because they are hard on you not because they die. You do a 3 to 6 month shift out, makes it really hard to have relationships or a family back home. But you do make a ton of money so people do it for a while to save up money then start a new career or transfer to an on shore job with the oil company where they can go home everyday.

@@kazimdhanif3238 that is because of how statistics work. The vast majority of footballers don't stay in the footballing world. Most youth players fizzle out and retire. Every team only got around 22-26 players on their roster and there are only so many clubs that pay enough. Also, footballers (and athletes in general) retire far earlier than 'normal' jobs. Ronaldo and other top footballers represent the top 0,01% of footballers.
I think some of the sports ones have external factors influencing this opposed to the individual making the decision to leave. E.g. contract length in sports that enables them to have the career in the first place
I think that's kinda the point. Their careers are short because its really hard to stay good at a sport at such a high level which intern will mean they don't get favorable contracts.
American football is still the most dangerous even with the gear and a big part of that is actually the gear itself. It might sound counterintuitive, but having all that gear makes people more willing to run full speed into each other trusting the gear to protect them but can actually lead to greater injury a lot, especially with concussions
Nah, statistics said most footballer players retire at 8. The one you're talking about is probably 5-0.1% of the players which doesn't represent the entire players
In Australia teaching has the highest rate of graduates not getting a teaching job after completing their bachelor, and the highest rate of any career for people leaving in the first five years.
American football players have really short careers because most guys come out of college, bounce around from team to team on practice squads for a couple years then teams stop signing them when it becomes clear they won’t make much impact.
The reason football careers are so short isn’t due to injury, it’s that there are so many players compared to roster spots, and not everyone is good enough to play at such a high level.
Obviously the reason American football is short in the first place is because of the physically but the reason it's as short as 3 years is because the teams have a limit on the amount of players they're allowed in their squad so loads of players get dropped and just have to find a new career
In American football you get hit so fast and so hard that your brain becomes scrambled eggs, plus the fact that most guys don’t have the ability to stick with a team more than a year or two
NFL players have short careers for a lot of reasons. Kickers have the longest careers because they arent getting hit as much, but there are only 32 of them in the league which means competition is extremely high. If a good kicker goes on a cold streak, he gets replaced and is very likely out of a job. Running backs have the shortest career lengths because they get crushed every single game. No amount of padding prepares you fot the collision that results from running full speed at a 250 lb linebacker who is also running full speed at you. A GREAT running back might last 6-8 years, but most are done in 2-3.
The opposite of this would be archeologists, some of them still publish and work very old, one German archeologist is still regularly publishing at 88 years old!
American football has short career spans because the market of players is oversaturated. There's too many players and teams have limits on how many players they can have.
