    Another thing not mentioned is that bunnies are dramatic. I didn't give my bunny a yogurt drop thing (he already had 2 and I don't want him to get sick from them) and he threw a full blown temper tantrum. • @theosminions4279
      @theosminions4279 Před 4 lety +9

      Gacha Bugga - Most rabbits will fight for territorial reasons, both genders equally. Spaying and neutering can help, and should be done for various other reasons, but fighting with strange rabbits over territory is an instinctual behaviour in rabbits.
      We are a chapter of the House Rabbit Society (rabbit.org) and have a shelter with approximately seventy rabbits, plus another two hundred in our foster network. I personally have fourteen rabbits at home, all in pairs. My worst territory offender is a four year old female. My friendliest and most amiable rabbit, with both humans and other rabbits, is a six year old male. Trust me; they almost all fight with strange rabbits 🙂

    I remember my ex bringing a bunny into the house. She set him in my lap and I was terrified. Thinking for sure he was going to rip a chunk out of my lower arm or my neck. Nope... instead he just started licking...CONSTANTLY. She pulled him off of me and I ended up keeping him. His name was pete. Turns out that it was the neighbors pet. Well the kids pet. Who had gotten out. But the parents were satisfied with the way we were caring for him and let us keep him because the kids were....well they were kids. So feeding and bathing wasn't exactly their forté.
    Loved that fluffy little guy... Though...he would often run and head butt my cat....which was odd. My cat was fluffy enough, so it didn't bother him. Just knocked him over. Still though... he always came right to me after being let out of his cage. Had to give him to a family member later. I'll miss that little thumping fluffer.

    I love my cat but my bunnies have my heart. There's something special about being trusted by an animal who fears just about everything. They're sweetness just breaks my heart open. I'm raising my first litter of babies (10 babies! Crazy!) And while the babies have only had their eyes open for 3 days, they already know my voice and come when I call, and kiss my fingers and jump in the air for joy. They can by such happy creatures and it helps me feel uplifted when I'm lonely.
    My cat is a good boy, but a total tease, lol. He just likes pushing my buttons and only wants affection on his terms. But my grown-up bunnies Coconut and Marshmello just want to be present with me, to be loved on and cuddle. They feel more sensitive to my emotions and while they like to chew cords and get stubborn about having things their way, they never tease me. The fact they want to be affectionate so much satisfies my love language: touch. And they make me feel all the work I put into the garden is appreciated because they enthusiastically gobble up the veggies as treats.
    I wouldn't trade them for anything.

    I raised two Guinea pigs from 4 weeks old until they both passed away. They’re kinda like raising a rabbit. Hay is also 80% of their diet and eat lots of veggies. They’re also NOT FOR CHILDREN! Pigs are also very fragile animals which requires a lot of love and dedication children can’t give.
    They were my favorite pets I’ve ever had though. They had a lot of character and knew their names and also food words! Very smart!

    A teacher of mine in High School had a pet rabbit in our class named Bunny. She was a wild rabbit that was caught and domesticated at a young age. Most of the other students ignored her or would try to pick her up. A couple of students would toss a sponge ball at her and laugh. I was different though. I never went to her, but would offer my hand or shoe for her to sniff. During my time between classes, I would often go to that classroom to read my book. Once Bunny noticed I was in my usual reading spot, she would sit between my feet and take a nap. I'd often place my feet close enough so her back and feet could feel my shoes so she'd know I was still there. If I sat on the floor, I was one of maybe a couple she trusted enough to actually hop onto my lap for a minute or two.

    I definitely agree that rabbits are not good for small children. My only childhood pet was a rabbit that my dad thought would be a nice mild animal to have for my sister and me. That poor rabbit spent the rest of his life neglected more than anything. My family didn't know anything about rabbits' social and environmental needs, plus my mom has always disliked animals, so we kept our rabbit in a 3x3-ft cage in the backyard. The only interaction he got from me and my sister were the five minutes each day we'd stop by to pet him and give him his dinner (our dad gave him his breakfast and lunch). His exercise was limited to running around on a leash in the backyard a few times a week. He eventually died from a black widow spider bite, and his loss never even hit me until years later when I learned more about rabbits and realized what a horrible life he had with us. It's been over 20 years, and I still feel so guilty for how he lived.
    I'm just glad to see channels like this sharing information on pet rabbits, their care, and their needs. I wish my family had known these things back then; my rabbit deserved better than us.

      Suneha Simpson it’s gonna be even worse because every goat breeder worth their salt won’t sell just a single goat. You need to buy 2 otherwise they can die of loneliness. (Other animals/you won’t fill that gap. They need another goat as a companion) I’ve seen in extremely rare instances of a single kept goat bonding with another species but as I said, extremely rare.
