- This Mighty Max Doom Zone has a very obvious Spider theme and comes complete with a mad scientists laboratory and a dungeon. Within the set itself, you get 3 characters including Mighty Max, the main villain Arachnoid and his mutated spider pet, Creeps. For this playset, I also keep a Virgil in the cage and a Norman to keep Arachnoid distracted.

For a spider mutant, there’s a pretty good set up in here, a bit like a split-level studio apartment with the lab at the top and I just really love the dungeon section below it.
It’s only a small detail, but the slits in the plastic create a great sense of depth with a prison area hinted at right below the ground.
I really appreciate these sets that use multiple levels to convey the scene and I’m really stoked they weren’t lazy with the spider-theme and were able to tie in some other horrific details.
Loving the addition of the cartoons in these reviews man :) this is one for the collection i need. It looks awesome :)
+R2 MY D2 Can't believe I missed this comment, yeah man, for sure! It's one of the more popular sets at least.. From what I can tell. I should be able to dig up my second Arachnoid Villain if you get the set loose/incomplete.
Also, this is giving me a great excuse to rewatch the cartoons, it's been really interesting to see how they were influenced by the playsets.
I had this one and Nuke Ranger, amazing to see them reviewed, it seems that in the 90s was a golden age for creepy, mild horror toys for kids, am not sure it would fly well now days.

Arachnoid is one of the coolest Series 1 Doom Zone villain figures. Creep, however, always struck me as being just too big.
Totally agree :) I'm glad the playset had a lot more going than the Stings Scorpion one. Doesn't feel quite so gutted.
They should being this toyline back.
You’re Virgil came from a heroes and villains set which had no case and a Bunch of figures I remember these cause I had the same one when I was a kid

Do you have the Palace of Poison? Only one I had as a kid but loved it.
+mws2 I do... Missing a small piece of the rope from the Snake's tongue, but I quickly showed it off when I did my Pharaoh Phang review.

It’s an effect 😅 trying to really hammer home that 90s aesthetic - and not get pulled up on copyright. But all the original clips/episodes came from CZcams for anyone who wants to watch them undoctored 👌
