I'm saddened to hear that there are kids at your daughter's school that said her lunch was yucky. these microaggressions last a lifetime. your daughter should be proud of her heritage and the delicious food her mom makes for her.

I've tried the rice balls for the first time a while back and unfortunately me the concept reminded me of a sandwich without bread and with rice...ugh..Thats what I get for idolizing a lot of my fav anime >< So I'd like to try it again but this time with the filler being spam.
I love Japanese and Korean food as well as Thai a lot so I hope to come to positive terms in loving onigiri hahaha!

You also touched on the mom shame that comes with doing things for your kids a certain way and trying to make things perfect for them. Nice, sad that kids said yuck on one of the meals. I sent this type of sushi meal and the kids in the classroom were jealous😂 I guess the demographics at the school were not into the Asian type food where your kids go. Very nice bento boxes for kids. Schools here aren’t allowed to send in peanut meals, nut free zone only
