Corruption moves door to door even in development countries to support the continuity of dictatorial regime.Murders and abduction deprivation of jobs, lack of heath facilities, immorality eating up society as its hard to survive clean environment.

The truth hurts our African leaders who are nothing but selfish and are ready to empty the wealth of the continent to the benefits of just their immediate family and the Europeans. Empty heads is all they have. No plan for their nation not to talk of the continent as a whole. It's a sad reality.

      @roro-on-1463 Před 3 lety +12

      @@mwafrikahalisi2549 I’m pretty sure that question was answered by my president, but to reiterate, it’s a cultural issue where kids, yes as young as 7 help out their parents with just about anything if it’s not too tasking. I remember growing up in Ghana and being asked to do a lot of things that will be classified as child labor. I went to school 5days a week and I help out around the house, sometimes even at my father’s jobs. Such was the norm, and I enjoyed it sometimes. I really hope that, that part of our culture is not completely abolished because it builds character so long as it’s not abused.

      Late President Magufuli gave Africa the economic blueprint. I hope President Nana could help push his ideas of economic and manufacturing throughout Africa. Africans and African diaspora CZcamsrs must do a livestream with as many CZcamsrs and their subscribers at one time and on a certain day to raise funds for manufacturing plants in Africa. If 100 of of us in the diaspora put up $1,000, that would be one million dollars and that could get a lot started but, we must start pushing this message of reaching certain financial goals for big projects and controlled by the people.

    The young Ugandan student should understand that "kids" working on cocoa farms are not those that have lined up in front of an employment agency looking for jobs to work on cocoa farms. These are children, nephews/nieces and these of other extended family members and children of their friends who all come together to help in the harvest season.
    I grew up following my parents to the farm when I were not in school. If any cameras had found me working on my father's farm, would it also be child labor? This whole notion of child labor on our cocoa farms is concocted and it stinks . Well meaning people should not buy into it. It was a great question. Here in the UK I sometimes get Chinese Take Away. The Take-Away I go to has a young boy working there serving customers on the counter in the evenings and helping his parents who are making the food in the kitchen. I doubt he is even in double digits and two or three years away from that. However, I think he is gaining a lot of valuable experience outside of being in school during the daytime.
    He is learning vital customer service and people skills, and he is also learning about money and maths and how to add things up very quickly. He does this all in his head at such a young age. That is invaluable. I'm not saying children working on Cocoa farms is necessarily good but I think there is another side to the story, an economic one that may also be helping to pay for their education or help their parents when nobody else can.

      Good question. Even the middle men who buy the cocoa from our farmers cheat them before it gets out of the country.
      What we are expecting here in Ghana is make the policies flexible for us indigens to compete with the foreign counterparts. Small scale businesses are collapsing because of bad policies which favour the foreigners. Nana Addo is expected to create a conducive business environment for all, a lot of us youth do not want the white collar jobs, we want to focus on entrepreneurship, but the policies in place make it hard for us to survive.

    Fun fact, cocoa and chocolate are from Mexico, both words in Nahuatl (indigenous language) as “xocolatl”. Spanish took it to Europe, they liked it, they farmed it around the world through colonisation, liked Africa, and now Africa slamming the door on their faces. Thank you Mr. President, you’re not just cutting the exploitation of Ghana, but bringing historic justice to the Anahuac (Indigenous Name of Mesoamérica) as well. God bless. 🙌🏽

    The reply of President Nana Akufo-Addo is very enlightening, and those that believe youngsters of any age should not help their parents outside of school time, only create lazy youngsters. When young I enjoyed participating in whatever the grown ups did, and this helped me to develop. Thus when I was looking after the family farm in Tanzania, I was able to pass on many of the things I had learned, in spite of my becoming an engineer later. During high school holidays, my father actually paid a radio technician to teach me how to repair radios, instead of playing with other companions, and this became useful many years later when I had to create and repair computers. So, any knowledge gained when young, does not have to be learned later. In Italy we have a saying, which would be translated as " Learn a trade and put it aside for when the need arises".
