    Hello sir I have a question. I think I made a mistake by checking only in the dashboard telling it is 20% more oil but when I check it in the hood I can't almost see the oil, just only a bit. I am worried about repairing the engine just forgetting to change the oil engine. I used synthetic it says good for 10k miles. But I think I have done for 8-9k miles and now I feel a little change of the sound of my engine. Is it okay that I am a bit late for change oil? Is my engine sound will come back to normal once I change it again?

    Is synthetic oil recommended for these Malibus? I have an 09 LT. I'm getting mixed answers online. Great video btw. Thanks

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  Před 4 lety +3

      Yes synthetic is recommended but kind of depends on mileage and what you have been using..say u have a higher mileage car and its been using conventional or a synthetic blend oil and u switch to full synthetic, it is the better oil but thinner and may cause some oil seepage past the gaskets..thats why theres probably mixed answers.

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  Před 4 lety

      Its always best to change the filter because they do filter any particles in the engine oil and they can get clogged if left in there too long.

    I don't mean to cry foul here, but I really have to point out a couple of things to you. First, you never completely drained the old oil out first before putting the oil plug back in.
    Also, it was nice giving us the torque specs for the drain plug and the oil filter; I'm curious, though, why you didn't torque your bolts, though?

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  Před 2 lety

      Well the oil filter on this one is a cartridge type..where it requires a 32mm socket to loosen it..its just above the dipstick just to the side of the engine's intake manifold and engine cover

  • @fernandoboss1740

    Did it wrong always remove the filter first

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  Před 4 lety

      Its not wrong to remove filter after, the filter by that time will have most of the oil removed from it..and the oil that remains should be cleaned off with a rag anyways, since it remains stagnant on the sides...only difference it might make is a few drops of oil that drain down and probably wont reach pan unless its allowed to drain for a while.

    • @backyardchevy328
      @backyardchevy328  Před 4 lety +2

      Removing cap gives u less control when draining oil, cause oil comes out faster and angled further away, more potential for spills since u gotta keep repositioning drain pain..if u leave cap on the angle of the drain is closer to straight down
