3:24 Gorgeous vessel. Back when ships were still beautiful things to look at.

Ships looked so much better in the '60s. Whoever gave a thumbs down should be keel-hauled.

Prolly gave the thumbs down because they HAD been keel-hauled!

Who gives a shite about a thumbs down on a CZcams video. You must lead a very boring life to want to knee haul a person for having a different opinion. If someone votes differently at the voting booth do you wish to haul off and belt him?

@@rapman5363 Someone piss in your cornflakes this morning? Tip for you mate: drink less coffee. Maybe sleep at bit more too and then you won't be sounding like some pillock.

What hard men those pilots were. No safety gear whatsoever. Just no1 uniform

According to my brother, who was one for a while, the most important quality is the ability to put up with the repetitive work.... He couldn't. This being relative of course compared to a life on the bounding main and splicing the mainbrace or whatever it is merchant mariners get up to. I've never done anything more nautically exciting than catching a cross channel ferry.
But yeah... Not a job for the faint of heart.

The fool proof way to give instructions to assisting tugs: the acme thundered pea whistle. Light, ready for immediate signals, and no batteries to go flat !!

The opening scenes look very much like Fowey. Anyone care to confirm or disagree?

A kid today would not even know how to make a call on a rotary phone. They'd poke their fingers into the holes and wonder why nothing was happening.
