- A group of students at Trinity College, Dublin, in Ireland recently performed this amazing a capella rendition of the song ‘Budapest’ that rivals George Ezra’s own version.
Known as the Trinitones, the group was part of the 2018 lineup for the annual Trinity Ball, where George Ezra himself was also performing. As part of their warm-up before the show, the talented youngsters decided to sing one of Ezra’s most popular songs.

I absolutely love this. The lead singer’s facial expressions and hand gestures are so light and tight. The big bass guy is sensational. And the two together are just a perfect duo. Great buddy body language and rapport. And if that wasn’t enough they’re supported, counterpointed, and carried ever higher. So many lovely little moments as the camera carousels around these companions. The freshness and spontaneity of this ensemble performance is unrepeatable. I very much hope the master is copied and saved in several safe places.

They are absolutely joyful and compulsive listening . I have become a George Ezra follower recently unexpectedly after hearing about his song “ shotgun “ on the radio from Ben Fogel when he was talking about his book “ Up “ and his experiences whilst climbing Everest . Since then I have been playing it whenever I need to be lifted from an emotional slump and it cheers me every time , without fail ! I shall add the Trinitones to my pick me up ! Trinity College Dublin is a wonderful university . I have only ever visited but my mother was a veterinary then medical student there in the late 50s and spoke of it often . She loved Dublin so much . She died this time last year unexpectedly and I shall be returning her ashes home to Ireland , well most of them . It has sad and poignant memories of when she first took me there aged 17 in 1981 and she wrote a little itinary on a small piece of paper of all the places she wanted to
Show me from her youth and this included Trinity ! Thank you for the reminder of a happier time we shared . Always keep a song in your heart to the end !
