- The ottoman empire emerged in the late 13th century in north western Anatolia
They were one of many Turkic principalities that were formed in the region in the wake of the Mongol invasions
So by the middle of the 15th century the ottomans had defeated and incorporated most of the Muslim Turkic emirates into their empire
They had also crossed into Europe and subdued the orthodox Christian Slavic states of the Balkans
These being Bulgaria Bosnia and Serbia
In 1453 Sultan Mehmed II conquered Constantinople the capital of the thousand year of Eastern Roman Empire
Mehmed II’s conquest was of the utmost historical significance

TYSM for talking about the Ottoman Empire I have been asking you to do videos on the Ottoman Empire and you did hurray TYSM hope fully in the future you can talk about how powerful was the three Islamic gun-powdered empires which is the ottomans , the Safavids and the Mughals basically it’s rise and fall and what every ruler did ps I have a question why are there different maps of how the Ottoman Empire looked like.For example some sources will say the ottomans only had the coastal tips of of North Africa and then some sources say they had conquered more lands in Egypt Libya Algeria Tunisia and some sources say that they might have conquered Morocco can you please explain this.
