The current shortage of gp doctors needs to be urgently addressed. As these doctors ( who today are really physicians ) must stay up to date with all evolving medical advancements. The specialist doctor’s job is much easier. To alleviate any gp doctor shortage, just increase their stipend by 25 percent & decrease the bloated stipend of the specialist doctor by the same measure. Hi yes you have to do the PLAB exams first to register with the GMC to be able to work in the UK as a doctor, then you have to do the GP training and exams.
