Underseat exhaust's are trash, gets the seat too hot, less space in rear tail unit and most importantly its better to have it lower to have a low centre of gravity so you can flip the bike quicker.
@@nbandit2k9 You only ride it 10 minutes a month because of the pain and discomfort it put you in. That and you're more likely to be pulled over for going 200mph
Lmaooo maybe more like an hour or 2 a month 😂. But yeah I agree it's not something you want to ride every day especially if you ride on the streets where there is traffic and stop lights and cops it's just no fun because you can't really push the bike into the revs it wants to be in.... I'd much rather have an MT10 for my main bike... the R1 makes an awesome 2nd or 3rd bike though.
@@grey5135 this is what I’m looking at for a 2nd bike. I find myself going top speed 140mph every time I take my bike out no matter if it’s the interstate or a country back road. Or a bmw1000rr so I can have cruise control. I’d get a Harley but I like going fast too much plus they’re a rip off

So Yamaha says that windscreen does not fit the 2021 r1, but i kinda think it does sweeeet! Got to get it. So far great bike to own, 138 twisty miles on it. So smooth so sick

Great review as always!!! It is not that much the height of the saddle, rather than its width that spreads the legs too much. Great screen, it seems very effective. Excellent piece of machinery. Gearing is a little weird, with first gear been extremely tall.
Great video Mark. How would you compare the ergonomics of the R1 to the 2022 BMW s1000RR? More or less lean forward than S1000RR? Legs more or less cramped than S1000RR? Thanks for your comments.
Nice bike , I’d like that cross plane engine , great character from it , seat heights seem to be getting higher all the time this last few years , I’m the same as u with a 30 inch inseam so on some of these newer sports bikes It’s the first thing I measure now before deciding , years ago all seat heights were way lower !!

Hi Danny ...both are brilliant bikes ...the suzuki is more powerful heavier and more expensive...I'd say if you are new ish to riding get the mt07 ...I've just reviewed the new model it's light and great fun :) Cheers mark
Isn't the track version the R1-M? I am guessing this one is not electronically adjustable suspension just manual adjustment? Don't think it is as pretty as previous offerings. The R1 always was a very nice looking bike. This one seems a bit Terminator akin to the MT range to me, not a look I'm overly keen on. Never the less it would have to be blue for me. Never ride a black bike. You have to have a bright colour or contrast of colours to stand every chance of being seen. But a good review as usual. I would love to see the out takes, the footage that didn't make the editor's cut .............. ;@).

Hi Jason I owned an 04 r1 underseat exhaust model ...from memory they had approximately 150 hp these new. R1 s have a claimed 198 hp ...you only notice the extra power at the top end of the revs in Normal riding say in the midrange the 04 model is probably stronger ...all very well these bikes having 200 hp at the top but something has to suffer which is usually the mid range Personally if go for a big bang 2010 ish model Cheers mark

Hi not quite as strong at say 3-4 k but these modern 1000s rev higher to make more power....but it's amazing ....it revs so fast and freely that before you know it your entering into it's insane midrange 6-7 k and it's literally going ballistic by then So yes definitely a five star engine Regards mark
@@markpulling12 nice. I find the K5 monster low rev torque tricky especially in the wet. I love it but its happiest above 70mph! I might get a second bike for...shopping trips. I fancy a bonny T100 !

Thankyou for your comment but it's a ROAD TEST on briish roads with heavily enforced speed limits and I value my licence ....I've have alot of experience of riding at hyper speeds on tracks over the years ...if you need to see this bike ridden fast there are many track videos on it Best regards mark

Yes the 04 twin underseat model was cool :)

they've slightly tweaked the styling and I don't like it. The last version looked lovely.
Remember the days where you had to warm the bike up first?. give it 5 minutes then lower the clutch, then roll off?...

So my last r1 was a 2006 R1. It was great for a taller and bigger rider. How are the ergonomics for every day riding? I'm 6' 250lbs.

Hi no ...just keep the throttle wide open on the up change and close it for the down change it's brilliant :)
