Pity you guys missed out on Hex. It’s a really great Vekoma madhouse set in the tower grounds itself.
I got to rode it in 2018 and really liked it, shame we couldn’t do it this time around -Taylor
Fun fact it’s not actually in the towers but in a building next to it to make it feel like it is.
Hex s in a warehouse not the towers
As others have said, Hex is in a towers facade attached to the actual towers, and “grounds” refers to the gardens and areas around the towers etc., not the towers themself.

Oblivion is my second favourite ride in the park after nemesis because the drop alone is incredible. I have never been put in the front of Smiler back of Wicker Man
Loved riding Galactica with you guys in the back and meeting you again later at wickerman. It was such an amazing day and I was so glad to finally meet the people who got me into coasters! ❤

Great to see you guys and Harry enjoy my local. Towers really needs to pull it socks up next year! Now I remember why I only visit on weekdays when the kids are at school.
We visited the Sea Life Aquarium in London and initially thought it looked like an underwhelming tourist trap, but then it just kept going and going and going, and we were pretty satisfied with the experience in the end. They've got this long labyrinth of aquarium hidden down there.
The golfing game you used to be able to win a car but they stopped doing it after a few were won during one season. They then changed it to £1000. 😅
Someone in my family won it after the golf ball bounced off the head of a duck in the lake and landed in the hole! Alton didn't wanna give away the car but there were technically no rules saying that it COULDN'T bounce off a duck so they had to give it away anyway! (I totally get how unrealistic this story sounds, it's the kind of story you need proof to be believed, but it's still something my family and I smile about whenever we walk past that golfing sign)

So I’m glad Sarah didn’t know about oblivion being so short so it couldn’t taint her perspective of the ride and also, if the drop is the standout/only element of the ride, it better be the best drop!

Its funny from the way you describe Galactica it sounds like a smaller version of Tatsu if you got rid of the stupid pretzel loop because Tatsu is so graceful until that point and then after its graceful again

I really loved seeing these Towers vlogs from you, I think the park did us UK lot proud. I'm sad I missed the meetup, maybe they'll be another chance eventually. Also it was funny seeing Taylor get lost on his own; maybe that should be a recurring feature of the vlogs? ;)
when i went to portaventura this summer, the longest line was 3 hrs for furius baco
You should try to make it out for Halloween if you ever come around again. I went last year and they had a maze in the castle ground which was phenomenal. There was also a bodysnatcher one that was pure hillbilly gone horror. Alton Towers is amazing. Wickerman may be the most complete coaster experience out there.
I've been to alton towers many times and my favorite ride is nemesis

In a lot of places, yes. It doesn’t get hot there every often so many of the buildings weren’t designed to have it

The queue for Galactica is always horrible for such an underwhelming ride. Especially when nemesis is usually open right next to it which is far superior with better queues

Don't know why you haven't been to six flags over flamingo land?, fantasy Island or oakwood... there all badly run parks that don't look the best, but some of the rides are good 😊😂😂😂😂😂
We did Flamingo Land on this same trip! We skipped Fantasy Island and Oakwood though

The US flag was backwards, but well-represented
Former USN Honor Guard here; there was nothing wrong with the way the national ensign was displayed. There is no "backwards" when being displayed in the open air on a held standard. Also, most people display hung flags wrong, and no, my flag patch on my right arm was not backwards. The blue field, called the union, always points to the normal (forward) direction when used as identification on literally anything that moves, or to the upper left from the viewpoint of the observer whether hung vertically or horizontally on a wall. This particular display was acceptable, as the photo was in a foreign country, both flags were displayed with equal prominence, and both flags were displayed on handheld standards (that is, flagpoles) in an open setting.
The walking at Alton Towers seems comparable to Efteling...
Alton Towers has better coasters though!
Oblivion barley held you at the top before dropping.
It used to when it first opened, and a speaker played "Don't... Look... Down". Effective at building tension, but I think there were noise complaints.
Oh, come on, guys. You riffed on a "Stranger Things" version stateside but completely ignore the idea of the world being called "The Upside Down" WITHOUT EVEN MENTIONING INVERSIONS ONCE??? Missed opportunity, friends.
I kinda think Oblivion is a bit boring but I hope the park keeps it
It was B&M’s very first Dive Machine, so of course it’ll be a bit underwhelming.
The Brits are so quick to defend their mid rides. I do appreciate the cool atmosphere in the park though.
Hey, I respect them for that, they cherish all their older coasters.
Alton Towers is a joke, I’m ashamed that it is our biggest theme park here in the UK 🇬🇧

Yea dissapointing service especially this year. After a few trips to mainland Europe I've become pretty critical of the Merlin parks for their operations, maintainance, theming and overall care. Ride line-up not so much as there's some great rides here and lots of childhood memories 😀. I also can't bare the temporary rides at AT.
