I died laughing when Ed Sullivan gets caught trying to cop-a-feel on Lucille Ball and Geraldine Jones. It is a shame that Flip Wilson is not shown the respect that he deserve for his contributions to Comedy in America. He open the door for many up and coming comedians in the early 1970s.
Ah, the good old days. I remembered this show as a young child in the 1970s. These people are legends and were immensely talented. The shows on TV today can't compare.
Lucy almost lost it when Flip does a dance and yells "I'm on the way with a burger and a shake!" Then Ed Sullivan, who at one time gave Flip Wilson one of his biggest breaks on HIS show, loses it entirely standing between two comedy giants delivering insults to each other.
Lucille Ball and Flip Wilson are PERFECT comedy foils for each other. In these terrific skits have very similar performing styles - straight out front to the audience and full of joy. It's net to see Lucy generously setting up Flip's laughs. They are a great team.
I grew up in Birmingham in the white bread suburbs and we loved Flip. I was the neighborhood ham (a gay boy in training) and I would act out Geraldine in the 4th grade. Hysterical and so nice to see big established stars supporting him and the show. My city was famous for racism, but in my neighborhood, for some reason, no one cared . . .my mom was progressive and so were most people where I lived. She was raised by a loving black maid and that made her sensitive to racism and gay bigotry--thank God. I'm a lifelong Lucy nut. Go Flip!
Ed Sullivan?!?!?! I didn't expect to see him! (And I knew Flip was a hilarious man, but you KNOW you're on to something great when you can make the marvelous Lucille Ball crack up! That is extremely high praise!)
For those of you too young to know, Willie Shoemaker was the prime jockey with a 29 year run of highest victories. Hence the excitement of the method actors in the horse suit.
A common business tactic was for one television star with a show to use another, at no pay. Lucy had Flip on "Here's Lucy" and Flip had Lucy here. Better for taxes.
I always, always wanted Flip Wilson's character, Geraldine Jones, to be Sheneneh's mother. That would have been soooo cool. Geraldine Jones as Sheneneh's mother and Killa Jenkins as her daddy. I wonder if Martin ever thought about that possibility?
Cool never knew she was on the Flip Wilson show and I've also never seen her do shows or anything interacting with African Americans so this is interesting!
YESSSS! OMG! I've been looking for this for so long. I saw a short instagram video of them doing a sketch on the flip wilson show and finally you upload it. Thank you!
Three nights after Flip appeared on the opening episode of the new season on "HERE'S LUCY" (featuring a parody of "Gone with the Wind"), she returned the favor and was his guest on the first show of his second season {September 16, 1971}.
It is so funny how when Lucy appears on Flip's show the sketches are fun and free wheeling but when Flip appeared on her show [Here's Lucy] they had to resort to a spoof of Gone With The Wind, they couldn't be more progressive than that. I love how Ed "accidentally"? touched Geraldine's boobs and Flip reacted in real life to the audience at the 10:45 mark.
What a great share , They just don't make talent like these 2 anymore . I seem to remember as a kid the Flip Wilson show came on Sunday nights right before my bedtime atleast around cincinnati .
☺↗Each of the star's and comedian's has beautiful about them-self in more than one way are beautiful.😘↗Peace and respect to them all of which I having enjoyed their appearances by📺 tv and or 🎥 video showings.↗👌
Do you by any chance happen to have the dvd set Lucy Mania (with the complete shows of the Westinghouse Special, the two ed sullivan shows and the bob hope shows complete?) Would love to see them again.
@@foxx2990 you are ignorant. Racism is everywhere. The absence of poc in any show is very telling. But you already know that and are actively disagreeing bc America has taught non poc to lack self accountability.

When Lucy the pro cracks up u know you are funny.

Thanks Rosie Outlook...I'm probably old enough, but but know nothing of horse race jockeys or stats
Lucille Ball was another great entertainer. She and Flip Wilson were entertaining together on his show.
Lucille Ball is the queen of comedy
Love Lucy Ball and Flip Wilson too . They are both very funny !
Ed copping a feel 😂😂
Three super greats. Best of the best. Thank you Flip, Lucy and Ed! 🌠
A common business tactic was for one television star with a show to use another, at no pay. Lucy had Flip on "Here's Lucy" and Flip had Lucy here. Better for taxes.

There will never be another Lucy ! Loved Flip Wilson but Lucy was my favorite funny person !
This clip is awesome
You had REAL stars back then. Not internet / CZcams plastic.
I Agree 💯
Lucille Ball was born in 1911. Do the math, and then look at her LEGS. Man!
One can't believe the woman was 60 when this was filmed.
She was beautiful until the very end.
This awesome

Cool never knew she was on the Flip Wilson show and I've also never seen her do shows or anything interacting with African Americans so this is interesting!
Sammy Davis was her good friend and she was on her show.
Right now I am a major fan of lucy n my brother plz follow me on CZcams too at #DisneyDiva and thank you and be safe and sound.
She had sammy Davis Jr on her show

YESSSS! OMG! I've been looking for this for so long. I saw a short instagram video of them doing a sketch on the flip wilson show and finally you upload it. Thank you!
As he himself said his show played 52 weeks a year in Canada. He was gone too soon!
RIP Flip Wilson 🕊️❤️🕊️ Missing ya

Yessss AWESOME 👍

I remember that. Flip was hilarious as Prissy. His version didn’t take any crap from Scarlett
I loved him dress as that lady lol
Flip Wilson was a handsome man! And when he plays Geraldine Jones he was Attractive Lady. Love it 💕
Mr flip is the king!
thanks for posting
“ Major repair” 🤣🤣😂🤣🤣
Wow!!! What good Heart felt Laughs.
Geraldine's reaction to Ed touching her, Hilarious!!
😂😂😂😂
Ed Sullivan looks 80yrs old in this skit 😄😄😄(dressed like a hippie).
Ed Sullivan always looked 80 years old. He was born in 1901, so he would have been seventy when this was filmed.
Ed passed away just a year later, in 1972.
Wow! Love this episode. Thanks for sharing
Hilarious! 😂🤣😂🤣
$.37 cents for hamburgers 🍔 and shakes. Those were the days.

The drive-in skit is probably the first time that I've seen Lucille Ball play the straight character.
ED, and Lucy is cracking up 😂
No less than Ed Sullivan! Flip was the best, if you call him a drag queen, he was the best of all.
NAG, NAG, NAG! 🥕
Geraldine looks like Sarah Vaughan.
60 year old Lucille
❤️❤️
Do you by any chance happen to have the dvd set Lucy Mania (with the complete shows of the Westinghouse Special, the two ed sullivan shows and the bob hope shows complete?) Would love to see them again.
Oh yeah.... I forgot since Flip did appear on Here's Lucy, Ball would appear on his show
I liked Lucy and I love Flip but it is in my mind that there were no black people on her show but he was kind enough to let her be on his😭❤️🖤💚
Don’t look for racism where none existed. That’s not fair on Lucy.
@@foxx2990 you are ignorant. Racism is everywhere. The absence of poc in any show is very telling. But you already know that and are actively disagreeing bc America has taught non poc to lack self accountability.
Flip Wilson the devil made me do it lol
I think his foot coming out of that costume really happened lol..
How does Lucy use the bathroom in the horse costume
Càught in Providence
I bet no one in BLM ever saw Flip Wilson ! THIS IS 1971 AND WILSON WAS BELOVED BY EVERYONE. Sadly missed, entertainment like thid is sorely missed.
Yhey were not supposed to be laughing lol.
Wow I always heard Lucille Ball didn't like blacks
Where, may I ask did you hear that?
