La Cala de Mijas is a town that belongs to the municipality of Mijas, in the province of Málaga in Andalucía, in southern Spain.
It is located in the coastal area of the municipality, with the exception of some rocky areas that exist between the limits of Fuengirola, to the east, and Marbella, to the west. La Cala de Mijas is a small population center less than a kilometer long.
La Cala de Mjias was an agricultural and fishing area until the beginning of the tourist boom in the 1960s. There are four towers that were part of the fortified line along the Andalusian Mediterranean coast, whose defensive function consisted of giving notice in the presence of enemy ships.
The town is mainly dedicated to sun and beach and residential tourism. It also offers some municipal services such as health centers, schools, cultural centers and library.There are plenty of good restaurants, shops and beach-front bars as well in the area.
La Cala de Mijas enjoys a sub-tropical Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and warm winters. Cooling breezes from the sea make the summer here manageable, with temperature average of 32 degrees during the summer.

Is it a lively place in the summer? Live music or so. I wanna take my teenagers.But I’m afraid they will be bored.

Hi! During the summer season, La Cala de Mijas gets filled with locals and tourists especially the beach area. This place is pretty chill and laid back, but there is a Feria or fair during the last week of July and that's the busiest week due to live music, celebrations etc. There are also water sports activities at the beach area during the summer, and the closest commercial center is around 10 mins drive (7.6km).
