    About:
Jason and Lorraine. In 2016 we sold most of our belongings and left the city in southern California to start a small homestead in the mountains of North Carolina. We left the city in search for a more minimal and intentional life. We became passionate about growing our own food and knowing what exactly is in our food after I (Jason) became diagnosed with cancer. Now 8 years in remission we as a family are on a journey to live our passions.
We document our life on CZcams videos to inspire others to get out of their comfort zone and not be afraid of change. We started our own online general store where we have available the things we make and use in real life. Thank you for following us on this incredible life changing journey!

Here’s a very old fruit tree trick to get rid if bugs. Around early October cover the trunks with cardboard so the bugs will lay the eggs there. In November burn the cardboards and repeat the cardboard protection for the cold season. The following summer you will have very few bugs.

The garden really looks good. Nice with the new wood chips squaring up the garden. Agree with commenter suggestions for hooking a hose andbspray nozzle to the rain barrels to save you steps. Owl is checking out your flock-scary.

Because of the gravity in the rain barrels, you can add a hose and spray nozzle and not walk back and forth with a bucket.... Just saying.

Could you add wheels to your chicken tractor? Placing the wheels on a cam and then adding a lever arm to move the cam wheel into position. It may help your wife move the tractor if you are out of town, on a quick job, or down for whatever reason.

You can lay planks down on top of bushes to get to the berries in the back.

"Farmer farmer put away your DDT. I don't care about spots on my apples leave me the birds and the bees please!" im singing for your family lol

I always throw a small amount of grain at the opposite end f the tractor to distract the birds to the back. Prevents any running out and allowing some walking room. Just a thought, love the channel!

Your videos are always great, but this one was even better than great. In the end of the video, we can see the wonderment and appreciation in you and your wifes eyes and facial expression. That's what it's all about. Great job.
