Me, as a Chinese who have lived in China for 22 years. I admit, we really do not give a sxxt about copyright, even our government. So, basically, all Chinese are using or used piracy. In the past, we used piracy because we do not know it is bad, we do not even know it is piracy. But recently years, more and more young Chinese people know using piracy is illegal, is a bad thing, but most of them still download things, play piracy games. The main reason is our government choose to ignore. Even some of Chinese feel guilty to use piracy, they still use it because it is free and they know nobody gonna arrest them. So it does not change the result even most of Chinese realize this issue(a few Chinese try to abandon piracy totally nowadays, but it is very hard to do it in China).Futhermore, lots of people still do not know they are using piracy. For example, in the past, downloading music is free. And nowadays, downloading music from music player app of China is paid. So people think paid music is genuine, they are listening genuine music now. But in fact, those songs still are piracy. Those music player apps do not have the songs' copyright but they still collect money. So, those users think those songs became genuine from piracy, but in fact, they just became ‘paid piracy’.
In my opinion, it seems that piracy make our life easier and more convenient. Absolutely, you can download almost anything on the Internet without payment. It help us with saving money. But on the other hand, it ruined our creation. The industry in China which was impacted by piracy is a piece of sxxt.

In fact most of the websites buy the movie and drama themseves and they do have the copyright, like youku, tudou and aiqiyi. Then they let mainland users see them free online and gain advertisement money (that's why chinese website usually have a 3min or more longer ad as you can see in the video). And if you don't have a chinese IP you can't see any copyright content on these websites.
Because China has 6 hundred million of internet users so the websites can easily make a lot of money by advertisement if they have good quality online contents. So just remeber you can see it free online in China ≠ it's 100% piracy and copyright infringement.

Copyright is really an interesting topic as I recalled in chinese history and culture, all these culture, art stuff are for free, people donate money instead of paying it to the creaters of the work, this phenomenon has lasted since very early dynasty in China. I wasn't aware about this until I arrived at UK 2 years ago as I found out I have to pay 300 times as it was in China about games and movies, etc.

If you are looking for pirate things you should be using Kuaibo(快播) and other torrent sites. For example, search [movie name] + qvod, you will get to most illegal pirate sites that use Kuaibo. Search [movie name] + BT下载, you will get to most illegal torrent sites.

Actually, now it is more popular to watch movies at cinemas, especially the movies that are newly released.
Yes,it is free for the audiences,it isn`t free for the websites. The websites (like Youku,Tudou) need to spend lots of money on the copyright of TV plays (such as TBBT,Sherlock). Then they earn money from the ads.
That's why it is free for us.
To be honest, this kind of websites don`t earn a lot money, some of the websites are actually under deficit.

Piracy is indeed rampant especially in entertainment domains like movie music or games, but some Chinese fans also purchased some legitimate products through online shopping like in Taobao[the Chinese eBay],and they are highly supportive of legal downloads, it's just that problem in china are really complicated.

Besides the obvious moral issue, if you're using cracked games or fakes (or pirated movies), the creators are getting nothing, which could cause the company to fold as a result, and new games like those you love are no longer made. I like a bargain, too, but I prefer to get the real thing when it's on sale. In some rare cases, like Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Wolfenstein, or Dragon Age, I like to get them when they're very new if I can so that I pay the release price and support the company because I want them to stay in business and produce those types of games indefinitely.

well, this is very interesting topic in China, although there is basically no practical copy rights in China, all movies from BBC, Hollywood to a numerious Chinese local firms, made a great fortune out of the market, American movies always try to add Chinese features to their products, in order to attract Chinese audiance! This means, the market some how has worked out a balance!

As a Chinese guy, I find it's quite interesting that my Canadian land lord watching movie online for free, and the website is NOT from China. Also, talking about games, I think most local people here download them online. It's like, pirate is a universal thing now.

NOT FOR FOREIGN MOVIES, no production company in Hollywood would accept a deal like that with these websites! What he didn't mention when he was streaming Harry Potter is that the movies is downloaded into a folder on your computer as well, you get to keep the movie! Also, if they have earned the right to distribute, why the crappy quality on a lot of them? Well, Funshion itself is a pirate group! Are you aware of what happened to these websites when the 2008 Beijing Olympics was approaching?

Your vid's rock. Here in the U.S. we don't have much, if any freedom left. I don't advocate what the above title of your video is. But, when the major company are on a constant endevor ram their collective sticky fingers into everyones wallet's. Your are going the have this type of thing going on. When I wanted to play L4D and L4D 2 I could not shell out the $50-$60USD for each game. To many working here on min wages as low as $5.25USD per hr minuse taxes,etc... Not possible.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I find it hard to believe that the websites pay the fees to stream all those tv shows and movies. But it's ok, we have similar websites, and do the same too. I even know of people who stream and maybe download Chinese stuff.
