I made this knife for you to have the ability to fall in love with a knife that you can use as a trainer for as long as you would like. When
you become more advanced, the blade can be sharpened for a more realistic knife flipping experience instead of buying another knife. The knife is cost effective, while still using high quality materials such as the nicer 440c steel in the blade. I’m looking forward to hearing your opinion and hopefully The Wave can lead you down an awesome balisong journey like it did for me:)

The replicant is my fav knife in my collection, it has a bit of tap because I have used it for 6 years all the time! So I’m definitely not trying to say anything bad about it :)

A) That’s what you’re supposed to do when you build a quality product.

Tap and play does not mean cheap. Some older flippers prefer more play because it can actually facilitate manipulation of the balisong better in some cases.
I love my 42 and it has a good bit of play and tap.
Still a god video though, it would have only said differently when there is so much tap the handles completely pass each other horizontally, your knife is probably too lose.
Many good balisongs also just get loose and need a tighten on occasion

Tap just scratches the blade, play can wear on your washers but you WANT handle play if youre flipping fast
@@l.no.solace7209 I still see 42s from the early 2000s flipping just fine. And any enthusiasts swaps their washers out when they wear out and for a 42 switch to phosphorus bronze. You’re technically not wrong but it really doesn’t matter that much

Since the wave is channel construction, and more room is cut out in the channels the farther down the blade, it makes for less tap. Sandwich balisongs can be tuned to a T and still have tap, but it’s not bad, won’t affect flipping, and isnt an issue if there’s no blade rub. Reps will have tap since there’s barely any space for the blade to move, and tap can be worked out through a couple of odd tricks, for example, dropping it. Lol. Either way, both the wave and rep keep their tune very well, as mine has proven to hold up very well with little maintenance, and reps are reps. Very well proven to be great.
I’m waiting on loctite to come in the mail but what I’ve noticed is as my pivot screws loosen and I start getting more tap and play, roll overs, chaplains and aerials get a fair bit harder coz the knife doesn’t wanna stay balanced
You just said it doesnt really effect flipping much and I wanted to add my 2 cents
It’d obviously depend on the knife tho, mines already handle biased so if the handles are moving around it’d have more of an effect on the centre of gravity than it would in a pivot-balanced bali

Tap and play are preferences. Some people want maxace tolerances and some people want tap and play. Believe it or not.

I believe, worse play because the Tap and Play might influence the swinging unpredictably. It makes it harder to execute, would be my guess

I got a trainer on amazon for 499 Indian rupees (approx. 5.99 usd I think) and It's pretty good, no tap and a little play
I just got a $68 bear and son butterfly knife and It has a lot of play and tap
I advise everyone wanting to purchase anything online that is wanting questions on what you want to buy just do a review of probably any product out there and purchase with knowledge and save yourself from getting taken. 👍🙂

I just got the Amazon knife and it’s pretty good🎉
so I bought a butterfly comb (it took 2 days to arrive its fast) and its small it has a dragon on it (in gold) and the other parts are silver and/of black it taps A LOT. and the handles PLAY so muchhh:( but it can do rollovers and lots of other tricks like twirls basic openings fans ect

I had a practice butterfly knife that had a lot of play in it end up, losing both of the screws that attached the handles to the blade itself so now it’s no longer usable
my knife has a lot of both tap and play, lets just say you can fit a marker in between the handles during when checking for play

Not really, as long as it doesn’t fall apart instantly you’ll be fine
I’d recommend getting like a nabalis vulp or a nabalis morse or maybe a marcolo c116 but in the gradient version specifically doesn’t matter which gradient version just one of them gradient color versions
my cheap practice one had huge play and tap after a year of dropped it got lose and i could not tighten it no matter what i tried till it finally fell apart 😢

I got this cheap 7 dollar balisong and it has little to no play and the tap only comes from the rattling of the lock thing on the end of the bite side
That’s a lot of tap for the rep me and 2 other homies share all of our knifes we beat tf outa ours when ours are on they last time they have tap and play but I think you need to tune your screws a little bit maybe oil

The cheap butterfly knife actually does not have any tap it is that little thing coming off of it which makes it tap but it does have play

Me who uses cheap Balis and gets good results. Don't worry if your Bali plays or taps, if you put in the work, you can do anything with any knife

As the town folks of Barangay Balisong in Taal Batangas Philippines used to say. Flipping and manipulation is nothing if you can't use the balisong for self defense or utility work.. it's empty and just for show..
