When they all sing "In the name of God" near the end... genuine, literal chills. Everyone I've played it for feels it too. The whole song is great in general, but that one part, and its placement in the song overall, really helps make this one of my favorite Sabaton songs in general.

The sacking of Rome happened in the 6 of May 1527. May 6th is the day of the year when the new recruits of the Swiss Guard are sworn in as members of the Guard. In the end, the defeat became a victory against time. They are still remembered...

I actually remember more historical dates when there is a Sabaton song about them because I just replay the songs in my head. I could never remember the date for D-Day until Primo Victoria. I don't think there is a Sabaton song that I could even say is objectively poor, let alone bad. I like all the songs they have done and their consistency is exceptional.

When you told of the Swiss guard requirements, I couldn't help thinking: "Well, they can't be an elite unit. They have to take anyone who fits the description." I'm not so sure it's so easy to find devout catholics in Switzerland... But then I thought about southern Switzerland which is pretty much Italian so maybe there are a bunch anyway. And now I had to look it up. 38% catholics in Switzerland. According to the books. Pretty certain a lot of those are more or less atheists in reality. So. Basically. I really have no idea what I'm talking about here. :)

    Amazing song!!
    ❤❤❤❤❤❤
    SHORT FACTS:
The outnumbered Swiss Guards, protectors of the Vatican, stood against an invading horde during the sack of Rome in 1527, Giving their lives so the Pope could escape...
The song is based on the perspective of those people.
& how driven & Loyal they were to their faith in order to sacrifice their lives...
    -It's very Deep❤
But the band itself is not a Christian band.

This is one of my favorites of theirs.(Sorry, Bismarck isn't coming off the top of the list for anyone or anything...) Sabaton is so good at setting a 'feel' for a song, and they got the 'holy' vibe all OVER this thing. And it works. I'm not particularly religious, but, again, it's perfect for THIS story.
Saw Sabaton in St. Louis last September, and it was a great show. They sounded like this in person.
