Toycat, you can excavate the trail ruins without destroying the actual structure. I excavated 1 and 3/4 trail ruins with only breaking a couple non-gravel or dirt blocks, which I could instantly replace. Destroying the trail ruins is the literal opposite of archaeology.
Yeah… it’s a bit weird to mine everything in the trail ruins. Mining everything is like if they demolished the entire Pyramid of Giza to see what’s inside
Except that this is a game and people can play how they want. I got all the armor trims from the ruins by destroying like 8 of those things. They are horrible and huge and a waste of time… so they deserve to be destroyed imo. That’s the beauty of it. You can play however you like to. 😉

I'm pretty sure the trail ruins are actually an ancient type of village. Try excavating one without breaking the "random" blocks next time and see what happens!
Another purpose for trail ruins is to create your own Minecraft stories and lore aka "tales" part of the update

I think sniffer eggs can only be found in ruins with suspicious sand.
Quick tip for People getting Scoots. Make sure you have Seagrass first then find a place we’re turtles spawn in. Next wait for a baby turtle to spawn in, feed it the seagrass until it grows up. After that Kill it with a Looting Sword or a Normal Sword, if you’re lucky you will get another scoot along side more Seagrass for the next Baby Turtle. That is the fastest way of getting a Turtle helmet
I just bring several eggs back to my base, lay a couple of rail lines with minecart hoppers, cover it with sand, then place the eggs. Lets me do other stuff while waiting an hour or more for the eggs to hatch without worrying about getting the scutes manually. You can also keep a couple turtles afterward to farm more eggs or scutes since it counts as their home beach.
I love “recreating deforestation” and make a mini city with each building having a separate purpose. because just how i like to play I have found 3 just when expanding 1000 blocks
Dude a trail ruins generated in a few ungenerated chunks near my base, unfortunately, it was cut right in half lmao.
I play on PS4 and have the Natural texture pack. I got it initially because it makes the difference between blocks and ores easier to see for my colorblind husband. Now I won't use anything else. This pack also makes suspicious gravel and sand very obvious by using much fewer pixels on it. I think they used slightly fewer pixels on the regular texture pack, but it isn't nearly as obvious.

Toycat! You ned to dig further down in the trail ruin! There's more than just the tower, there are actual 'rooms'!
There are also multiple layers in the ocean ruins sometimes with more suspicious blocks under the surface ones.
@@sambuma I noticed that too! Any sand within 2 blocks of an ocean ruin can be suspicious sand I think. Maybe 3 blocks, but not seen it that far out yet

I'm fascinated that you have a map this old and yet still don't have go close or even above the 10.000 Block mark for new chunks... I lost all my old worlds so I made a new one like two or three years ago and I'm really struggling to find new chunks lmao
So you actually had a goos idea with the mesa biom, typically warm bioms spawn near each other, so theres a far higher chance of a desert spawning near a savana, warm ocean andget this, mesa, your chances of finding it next to a jungle is lower
Is jungle a cold or warm biome? Is there a list I could view that tell whether each biome is warm or cold?
Pro tip: use doors underwater it makes it easier to create an air bubble as long as its in a 2 block tall space
That's only in Java tho, doors waterlog underwater in bedrock

Bedrock exclusive, you can even use just a fire aspect book to light candles and I think campfires.

Generation changed to only work on chunks you visit, not ones you see in the distance. So if you saw it pre-1.20, it doesn't exist.
a lot of my world that i explored via elytra still changed to cherry grove after, i guess it will still rewrite the chunk if you have not modified it
While the pick block strategy looks like a good way to tell sus sand apart from regular, I think it’s kind of an inefficient way of telling because the best way to notice the difference is to pay attention to detail, or if doesn’t work use the brush.
Yeah I think it's pretty easy to tell the difference between the two.
I made a world for 1.20, it got corrupted in the update the other day after I got fully set up and was about to go trim hunting, made another world only to get glitched in a wall in the nether when I was walking through my tunnel and lose all my stuff to lava that was under the block I glitched through. And this was after getting sneaky, rib cage, dune and an enchanted golden apple on my trip. Oh and I glithched through my pure obsidian AFK mob farm while I was making breakfast somehow and died to phantoms and lost everything. Oh and my world before that is too big for me to reasonably play on Xbox because I decided that an underground village with about about 300+ villagers (unfinished by the way, there's still around 100 beds that need to be placed) would be a nice thing to have in the world. I am so done with minecraft

Is the loot in Trail Ruins different on Bedrock than it is on Java? The first 8 items Toycat found in his Trail Ruins I didn't find even once in mine on Java, and I dug out the entire structure.

It bugs me that trail ruins continue a few blocks under the exposed part. I have left two trail ruins in my world without excavating them properly.

I like the idea of archeology, but the "suspicious" sand and gravel is really hard to tell apart from non "suspicious", at least for me. I probably shoveled so many on accident because I can't tell the difference. The only way I have found around this problem is to make way more brushes than necessary and brush all of them. This obviously makes the whole thing not fun. Sand looks quite different than gravel. Why couldn't they consider people with vision problems and make the "suspicious" blocks a little more different? I didn't even bother exploring the last archeology site I found because of how annoying it is trying to tell the difference, and brushing all of the surface blocks. I gave up. :(

Good thing you're collecting all this flint with your fortune shovel to craft fletching tables. It's impressive how flint has remained one of the least useful items in the entire game for over a decade now. Three recipes, only one of which is frequently reusable, and barely considering all the better ways to get arrows. Can also be sold for emeralds. Imagine a crafting material added in early 2010, in the same update that added furnaces and porkchops, still only has 4 uses, and none of them are very good.
I'm campaigning for 1.21 being the flint update. Sure, there's people who want copper tools, but what about flint tools? Anything. Really anything. The last update to flint was in 2019 with crafting the fletching table.
Or use it as a way to sharpen tools. Like make a sharpening stone. After ex amount of durability lost, the buff is gone, and needs to be sharpened again. Either that would use up the entire sharpening stone, or llke 1/4 of its durability.
Now that I say this... I like my idea

I spent three hours in new terrain and didn’t find a single trail ruin.
/locate trail_ruins , on a creative copy ..I am using a texture pack so the Sus sand and gravel shows up clearly at present because of the big pixel squares ..I doubt it will be easy to spot when they update the packs unless they really make them look different to normal sand and gravel..
