Giant Houndfish, Jacks and Sharks - Inshore Fishing in Florida - ft. Paul Cuffaro

- In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing inshore in Florida with my buddy Paul Cuffaro, in search of giant houndfish, jacks, and sharks. We began the day using frozen ballyhoo for bait to catch houndfish. After a couple drifts with the bait, I was hooked up! While I was releasing my houndfish, Paul hooked up and caught his first houndfish of the day. The bite was consistent for the next hour until I hooked one of the biggest houndfish either of us has ever seen! The giant houndfish fought for five minutes before getting tired. At noon, we decided to go fishing for jack crevalles. Both Paul and I hooked a giant jack crevalle, and within seconds, both fish had defeated us by breaking off on the dock. After catching the jacks, Paul and I decided to go shark fishing. We anchored the boat and threw a chum bag in the water. While we were waiting for a shark, a massive school of ballyhoo surrounded the boat. I started catching them by using very tiny hooks. The ballyhoo school left the area, and within an hour we had a shark bite. I reeled tight and the shark was hooked up! It was a massive 200+lb nurse shark.

I caught those kinds of needle fish in the Chesapeake...really fun to catch! I also caught a striped killifish, whoever don't know what that is, google it...thought it was a rockfish but it was golden yellow. But that needle fish you caught at 3:35 was a MONSTER!!!

damn rip, treble hooked a houndfish three times and trolled him but ended letting it go
I'm new to the channel I enjoy what you show off, currently looking into getting my fishing liscence for a year to start, but just lake fishing. I'm in PA so nothing fancy like an ocean or as scary hahahaha first time seeing the Goliath Grouper on this channel I was amazed. Can you imagine deep sea diving and something that big coming out of the misty dark water. NOPE. Let alone a carnivorous fish......or a large blue whales slightly open mouth coming toward you.

Ahahahha, love how it's a chilly 50° there, up here in the panhandle it's a frost bitten 20°.....its to cold to fish for trout and redfish here, that's how I know it's to cold in FL.
Hound fish its great sensation when strike on.... in my place this fish catch without hooks ..only mono line with small fish bait and loop knot with the long of mouth its great way to catch them on top water, we calling Cendro fish
Here in Trinidad & Tobago in the Caribbean we call hound fish “BLUE BONE”. The bones are completely blue along with some parts of the flesh. Sweet fish.

In Hawaii, Houndfish are called Aha and they are everywhere. They stay in schools with about 20 but they are small and they are mostly seem close to walls and rocks.
Hound fish are like gar in many ways it’s crazy to see how alike two different fish can be
They call those Houndfish “Marsh Marlins” in North Carolina. We’d catch them on metals near the inlets all day long.
you need to try hound fish for shark bait i used to use little chunks for surf fishing for sharks and it worked the best out of any bait i’ve ever used including bluefish and jacks
