Oh perfect, exactly the video I needed. Thanks a ton Spicy! Hope you are having a good week.
Great vid Spicy, plenty of great tips and advice. 👍
super spicy video! Thanks for this, as a new rider most helpful.
ayy nice one! i commented only the other day asking about general maintenance, you left a nice detailed comment, and now got a video to go with it! cheers dude :)
Thank you for the tips much appreciated
Loving the videos recently Spicy!!
Someone plz make a compilation of all the spicy sound effects that he does 😂
Oh God 😂
... I might have to
Thanks Autodoc 👍
Very good video, one thing i tell me mates on bikes (who haven't got bikers in the family who teach them) is change your oil regularly and adjust your chain, dont rev the piss out of it and finally if you use it everyday it doesn't have time to breakdown.
Good video spicy and congratulations on your sponsorship
13:00 I can confirm for me I had my battery bake during the hottest days of the summer along with part of my LCD display where a small portion of the LCD polorizer (the layer between the LCD and front glass) got sunburnt
great video spicy!
You have my issue every bike looks like a mini moto when your 6''4,great video Spicy
You're very natural on camera, informotive and concise👍
On the CBT they complicate it massively in my opion. The say a daily check should be the acronym POWDER.
P - Petrol
O - oil
W- water
D - Damage
E - Electricals
R- rubber (side walls nicks and tears)
And the they say weekly you should do BOLTS.
B - bolts & brakes
O - oils (engine, clutch, brake and chain)
L- Lights
T - Tyres (pressure, depth,tread)
S - seat, steering and suspension
Checking/replacing the spark plug or even the related parts is always good too. Great video though. Nice and concise overview to lead people in the right direction for their bike.
Indeed I knew I would forget the odd thing. Haha
I need to do some winter checks on Divvy like a coolant flush, brake bleed, tyre pressures and chain lube and tension every two weeks or so
Awesome info spicy, how often should i do these checks?
Lucky!! change the oil 1000 miles, mine says every 3 hours of riding
It's dam good 2 see u still on yt I just watched a video off 6 years ago dam
YEESSS a sponsor finally, congratulations spicy!!!
Yep the first of many I hope! But they have to not be some bs.
@@spicy110 yeah, not some crappy game that the youtuber doesn't even play but they say they love it
A Haynes manual is a must if you want to do a lot of work to your bike or car, I once knew an awesome mechanic who was self taught using Haynes manuals for years from a young age.
I got my finger caught between a chain and sprocket once, I was about four years old and done that thing when you put the bike upside down and spin the wheel as fast as you can with the pedals :)
That's a good call, I never had that for my 125cc bikes as Haynes had not come out with the Chinese 125s edition. So I learnt from doing but I had a pretty good idea at that age anyway. 🙂
I trained as a mechanic (I've got a lot more paperwork than Jake lol) but I have always got one for my cars, still yet to get one for my bike, just so it's there if/when it's needed. There are manuals for many Chinese bikes, there is also a manual for Chinese 125's in general (not model specific).
Great tips, note do not spray ACF50 on the brake discs... or any of the braking components or the tyres. I`ve learnt by doing that.. And thank you AUTODOC for sponsoring Spicy..
if you do that by accident, or get any other grease or lubricant on the brake discs then spray them with brake cleaner, leave it to evaporate and then wipe off.
@@DeanLawrence_ftw oh I know that know lol...
I like the tip for brakes that John McGuinness gives for EACH time you get on your bike.
Squeeze the brake lever.
He always worried that one of his kids would knock over a bike in the garage and then pick it up without telling anyone perhaps putting a dangerous hairline crack in said lever!
I can vouch for Auto Doc, fantastic company, my go to company for parts, can get stuff CHEAP
drz is such a nice supermoto wish suzuki would make newer model
I loved listening to you.. But honestly I drifted off after a few minutes. I am a complete idiot when it comes to maintenance and bike part names haha! I have a mechanic friend that sorts it for me, thank god!
Hey spicy, should I buy a brand new battery or buy a battery charger, it struggle to turnover buy usually works ok
Buy a battery charger, and charge it for about 10 hours depending on the type of battery you have.
Sorry spicy for poncho g this one off you lol
When it comes to buying a new bike would you do the same checks or are there others you should do on top of these?
I have a video on that in the same playlist this is in, but in shorty thing plus a few other things.
Wow, whoever requested a video like this was pretty smart.
It was just a request from many for something on general maintenance. 🙂
Remember to check your horn, I have gone out on a ride without checking every so often, needed to press it to alert a road user, and I couldn't so it almost caused a nasty incident.
I use mine that often I don't have too haha
Did u manage 2 fix your broken indicator?
Not yet as this was only film The few days ago and I'm not riding that bike at the moment due to my back. However I know exactly what the issue is it's to do with where the connectors are because of the wire lengths I should have just my longer cables.
Hey Spicy, I found a CB125T barn find on eBay. Do you think it would be worth fixing up to make my own bike? I have pretty much no knowledge of motorcycle stuff, but it would be something id like to try. So far the bids are pretty low, and the bike cosmetically seems good.
Is the bike in Wakefield by any chance?
Yep. U interested too?
No I just wanted to see what it looks like and tbh you'll be making a very big mistake or you'll be laughing. What if do if I was you is look up everythk g there is to know about the bike and other bikes too but it's going to take so time and doing to get that bike back to it's former glory, you'll need all new parts and most likely an engine rebuild...... in my eyes it 10000000% isn't worth even if you do know what your doing
I have a CG125 I payed £420 for it and it only has a few minor issues but runs and rides very well
Yeah, I asked him about it. He's pretty vague but he says there's no rust, and cosmetically it's good and just very dusty. I'll keep an eye on the bids and if it goes cheap, ill give it a shot, could always sell parts individually I suppose. Any ideas of a bike that would be good to do a restoration on, and that doesn't break the bank? I have an msx125 at the moment but want to try something new. And to be honest im not looking to make it perfect. Practicallity would be great since ill be useing it :)
Ahhh okay, I'd go for something that obviously is t going to break the bank in buying it and for parts and can be sold (if your wanting to) for a profit
Funny what you say about the battery shit. Bikes been working amazing over the summer but as soon as this cold weather has just hit. She doesn't wanna start in the morning unless she's been on charge all night
Yep that's exactly how it goes. Time for a new one 🙂
pain in the arse as she's being replaced soon with a duke 690
Yer that is a pain! Why couldn't it just hold on a bit longer! Haha the bike knows it's days are numbered and it's getting back at you 😂
She's already given me hell for the past years, what a great send of :')
Haha
Spicy you forgot to mention that a Haynes Manuel will have all the specs for your particular motorcycle, and also have a step by step set of instructions for general maintenance, with info on the better products to use for your bike
Indeed however when I learnt to work on bike they didn't make one for Chinese 125cc bikes they now do. Subsequently I have never owned one as I learnt by myself. But if they have one and your new to this 100% money well spent.
spicy110 there is a Haynes Manual for the pulse adrenaline/lexmoto/sinnis and a few moped Manuals for the Chinese bikes so there is a few
@@thomasashman8738 I know I said that in my reply. 🙂
About the batteries: Generally all of the batteries used in motorcycles even including the lithium ones have negative effects from either too high or too low temperatures. During summer as long as you dont keep your bike sat under direct sunlight for too long it won't have much effect, if your battery is overheating when being used it's most likely due to a short, faulty regulator or generally something is taking too much juice. Regarding the cold weather this is where the batteries go bad because the chemical reaction required to produce electricity is slower due to the cold alongside with crystalisation that happens due to low charge. If your battery stops holding charge when it's cold it's probably not a coincididence, charge it up see how it goes, if it dies on you again it's time for a new one. Generally batteries can last well up to 4 years without problems but after that they are bound to start failing, so I advise to change them every 4 years, however if you keep your battery charged up when youre not using it it could last longer than that. Most batteris are called 12V batteries however this is just because the motorcycle system is based on it, if you have a Volt meter (and you should) put the probes on both terminals on the DC setting that is indicated by the __-__- symbols not the sine wave! the healthies batteries aka new should measure 13.2 however as you ride your motorcycle they can charge up all the way to 13.9, there are spec sheets on the internet and your battery should have some info, generally if it's close to 12.4 it needs a serious charge as 12.4 is barely sufficient to even spin your starter. Also you can give your old batteries to some scrapyards and get a return on your money since the lead inside them is salvagable.
Good info. I will add some bikes cook the battery. My xj6 gets stupid hot in the summer and the batt happens to sit right behind the engine.
@@spicy110 Thats an annoying design, I should also add that eletrical faults are very rage inducing since theres so many things that play part like relays and fuses, but If anyone thinks they have a problem or want to have the upper hand when one occurs check out this page motorcyclemd.com/how-to-fully-troubleshoot-your-motorcycles-charging-system/
Im currently doing my electrical design unit in engineering and as hard as these seem its really useful to know how your bike works
@@spicy110 For protecting batteries from engine heat, I've had great results with Thermo-tec heat barriers. And great vid as always
Steering bearings, seat security, horn operation, brake pad material, caliper leak, master cylinder leak, oil leaks, coolant leaks, exhaust condition, panel security, throttle grip returning and not accelerating when steering, fuel leaks.
Did you say "panic" stand? It sounded like that...
@Jimmy Armour uh...yeah. I know? Just sounded like that.
ABBAYE DE BELLOC!!!!!!!
I like to throw my bike on the flaw regularly, to test the brake leavers and make sure I feel a big enough twat.
Flaw
@@lordracula2461 that was a floor in my spelling.
Just to be pedantic - Check your tyre pressure too. (Google Tyre Pressure Gauge)
I did say pressures. 🙂
My mistake @ 2:05 you mention them. Always check for left-over Christmas tape :) - Great vid and wishing you a speedy recovery.
Should have way more than 69k.
Always wear a full face helmet when standing anywhere near your bike.
Where do you think my audio is coming from?
Why the bloody lid???
My helmet has my second camera and audio recording mounted to it.
@@spicy110 oh ok bud I'll give u a pass then 😂😂. Get yourself a Mic. Good vid too
Advantage of using the helmet audio is it cuts out all the other noise. There was construction work going on in my road while i made this and you don't hear it. If i use a open lapel mic you will likely get wind noise, rustling and a lot more of the sounds from around the area. 🙂👍
I realise that I don't do nearly enough maintenance but ain't nobody got time for that
