The k- band you were picking up was probably Blind Spot Monitoring . Honda and acura are notorious and I did notice in your video there was a honda pilot in front of you when you got a k-band alert. Vortex radar does a good job of explaining different radar frequencies .
Make sure to adjust the angle of the R7 to keep it level for the best range. It looks like its pointing up in the video.
If you wanna race you gotta down shift or they’re not gonna take you serious 🤦🏽♂️
K bands get triggered by a lot of sensors on modern day cars so can get annoying!
Edit: to add some more info about radar detectors, lot of police departments using older tech usually have k bands. Also, the laser notification is a bit useless since it only triggers after a cop has scanned you. Here’s how I usually approach it:
- If you have a K band look around for a possible cop
- If you have a Ka band definitely slow down immediately because there is 100% a cop
- If you have a laser band a cop prob scanned you already (lot of false negatives on cheaper radar detectors)
Yeah depending on where you're at it's best to tune your bands to only read specific frequencies that cops use in your state. Here in California, the K band in general can be disabled as most cops use specific KA bands
I think you'll like the Spoon Springs. I'm running them on my FK8 and it's just enough drop to tell a difference and its close to OEM feel. I had swift's but before I could put them on I sold them for spoon springs

Cam.... When you see 34 frequency, slow down..... Drive around and let the detector learn the false alarm areas using the built in GPS,.... Drive safe
Make sure GPS is enabled and Auto Lockout should lock falses if you drive at or right around the same location within 24 hours.

Cam, Amazon carries hard wire kits for various dash cams. They typically require lower voltage (5v) so just hard wiring directly to fuse box will damage the cam, but grabbing one of the kits makes it a breeze!
Also Cam, Waze and the radar is a great combo

I got the Cobra scout, it's a bit larger but has a built in dash cam as well. Love it, minus that it's rather large.
Highly recommend a add a circuit kit, and an extender wire. You can hide it around the side and move the detector up to the black dots on your windshield so you can't see it. Then u can leave it up permanently and its out of the way. I have an R3 and its great.
Torq Toolbox has a really good video on how to hook it in to your fuse box. I have the R3 version and that's what I did. I LOVE the setup.
The R7 is a Great Detector!
With the R7 I recommend on the Advanced setting for K Block 1 and 2 put on weak. Will block out alot of the Hondas and Acuras with blind spot filtering. Less alerts.
Alot of newer vehicles to with blind spot.
What I did for my setup was get a 3 to 1 usb to cigarette lighter outlet so I can my radar and dashcam on at the same time
Hm, never liked the spoon springs for the 90’s Honda’s. Front and rear progressive meant more body roll before the weight fully transferred.
Got a Uniden, works great.
You got the Best one out! aside from the R8 but they are barely different.

My stunt driver keeps getting tickets and for some reason they send them to me.
i have an obd2 adapter for my dashcam and it has never caused me any issues but i have a honda fit, not a CTR
Go watch a couple of vortex radar vids & tune the R7 to filter certain bands
Newer Hondas trigger k band because of lanekeep and adaptive cruise
I won’t drive without my uniden. Love it. I’ve pretty much turned off my k and x bands. Ka only for me.
I only use ka and laser. I know if it’s laser I’m probably the one being pulled over lol

Haha same! I had the R3 before I accidentally placed it in a plastic bag and later threw it away... it saved me so many times. Might just order the R7 this time.

A few months back I got rear ended at like 70 mph and I still get scared when cars fly up behind me sometimes
At best it will give you about one block heads-up if you are being actively tracked with K-band/ Ka band so not bad with highway mode, it's paid for itself already 2X over 😅 but be aware that laser is not very reliable with any radar detector...also you can be paced. Also, point your R8 straight and not towards the sky.

If you go to Orlando watch those love bugs. They come out in May and September. You go in and out of swarms. Don't let them stay on long because they will pit your paint. They can get really bad on inland roads away from the coast. Have fun there. If do something this fall maybe I can meet up with my Focus RS if you don't mind an old fart tagging along.

From my many years of ownership of a radar detector, Ka band is the only useful band which are most of the time is a cop. Everything else I ignore

Not necessarily. Depends in where you are. Had K band Detectors many times in rural areas. Generally KA is the one to be careful though

That's how it works. You buy a radar detector and you will never see radar
X and k band commonly send false alerts, I'm pretty sure a lot of automatic doors at store fronts get picked up by the x band detectors. You can almost always trust a Ka band alert 🤙

From my experience ka band comes on when a cop was behind me. Detecting radar. Obviously. and whenever i go say 6 over the limit or in general "speeding" it would switch to just K band. As if he toggled on and trying to capture/record my speed. I do this back and forth slowing down and speeding up and whenever im speeding it would switch to a K band. Food for thought just my opinion. Disclaimer i have a really old one. But it saves my ass everytime
Here in California you can pretty much disable K band in general, most cops use KA band for sure depending on the brand and type of radar equipment they use. It's best to do research on which frequencies are used in your area and disable scanning for what isn't to reduce those annoying false alerts
