  • From reference photo editing, background selection, colour picking, converting to line art, setting print size, printer settings and more are all covered in this single video. Everything you need to get started with a piece of artwork is all in here. A lot of these topics are covered in more in depth videos here on my channel too.
You can also access the full in depth real time video of creating the Abby portrait over on my Patreon channel.
Note that the version of Gimp that I use in the video is an older one but other programmes offer this same option to create line art from a photo.

Very informative. Your way of creating line art is the best (for me) that I've tried. Learned a lot here.
I just wanted to let anyone using a newer version of gimp (I'm using 2.10.32) that the version of the 'Difference of Gaussians ' filter you use can be found under the menu filters/edge-detect/Difference of Gaussians (legacy) - It's at the very bottom of the Edge-Detect menu. The regular 'Difference of Gaussians' (at the top) won't work with your method, but the legacy version does. I hope that was helpful.
    Thanks for sharing!
