- The orchids in this video are clearance orchids ready to be potted into their new home! I bought the ones that had a healthy looking root system (from what I could see) so it was really easy to repot without being worried about harming them.

For the last several months, every time I saw an Orchid for sale at Lowes and WalMart- I thought of you. I finally went for it and bought one. So timely you put this very informative video out. Your channel content is so uplifting in the world's uncertain times- thank you much!
I’m so glad you got one!!!! This is so exciting I hope you love it so much 😭❤️
Thank you for your video as well as the other channel recommendation. I'm new to orchids and solid information is important to me. I super appreciate it. 🙂
So pretty, I luv orchids. Thanks for sharing.
Well done! Love the energy that plants put out! Good vibes :).
Hi! Usually, it's better to wait repotting until flowers are done.
Orchids are so pretty!
What a wonderful calming video! With soothing music and flowers!
Hi! I've been wanting to get into orchids but don't know much about them. Could you maybe do a video about just general orchid care? Love your videos by the way! 💚
yes of course!
Hi, I think you should also check out MissOrchidGirl on CZcams (Of course as well as Erika’s vid)
Thanks, I will definitely check out their channel!
Ooooo I’ve been wanting one of those variegated phals!! So so pretty 🤩
Omg I couldn’t believe I found it at Walmart & on CLEARANCE?!
I got an orchid, when i first started watching your orchid videos. It is now dead, but since then ive gotten a new one, and it is doing so much better. It makes me happy every time i look at its pretty flowers. I just wanted to say thank you for bringing orchids into my plantcollection:)
I recall when you first got into orchids, you appreciated the leaves. Wow, I tuned into this to see you are now an avid orchid person and know so much! You've inspired me to look into replanting my orchids which, finally after so many years, bloom every year for me. Thanks for the inspiration!
Beautiful orchids! I will have to try the layering method. We average $19 and up for all of our orchids here. Often many months pass before a new flower spike occurs. We have some "popcorn" orchids in the yard that bloom annually in late spring. The rest generally bloom during cooler weather. Always enjoy your videos . Aloha🪴
Nicely timed video! I have a tiny orquids that a special person gifted me. This helps with my next step to repot.
Your videos are great 😊
Yay! Tiny orchids are so cute!!
I love orchids! I have 4 rescue phals that have all rebloomed recently and they are gorgeous
They are so much fun to grow! the reblooms are the best part 😍
Thank you, now I have an idea..GodBless,
Good job!
Just repotted my mini! I used bark, charcoal and perlite mix. I put it in a plastic orchid pot so I can watch it. Soaking//watering it once a week. Hope I can make it grow 🪴
Cutest in the world. Great videos!
Nice and informative video, I have several phal rescues.. well about 30…. LOL
But I can’t grow them in a mix I grow them bear root; they are soaked 48hrs weekly.. this the method which works for me; I have reblooms beautiful root and leaves…
WOW!!! I admire your dedication! I have 2 mounted orchids & I am struggling to even keep them hydrated 😅 I love the look of bare root orchids but i know I wouldn’t be able to keep up with them
Great video Erika I use the same method with no issues, I also live in So. CA.
Easiest method 😎
I missed ur posts so much!!
💚
hi erika :) i love your vids! they're always so chill and calming.
do you have any tips on orchid care? i always wanted one but it seems very different from aroids.
could you do a video on full care please?
Yes!
Hi love all your videos wish we get orchids on clearance sale here in trinidad 🇹🇹it's so expensive here
I love the finished product! I really love that variegated one from Walmart?! I will have to keep my eyes peeled for that! I also love Moss Orchid Girl’s channel! P.S. your hair looks SO GOOD! 💚🌸
Also wanting to know if that is from walmart recently! If so im about to hit up my local stores and hope i get lucky!
Some moss that I removed has started growing and pushed out a bunch of little green moss sprouts. Cani reuse it?
Ahhh thank you!! It was the best orchid find I’ve ever had lol 🥳
Ang gaganda nila Maam
You do a beautiful job on them. I would be afraid of killing them.
Thank you! They are p hardy so it’s not much to worry about 😊 unless they’re expensive lol
Places here sell them for literally 30$ for mini phals it’s such a ripoff and anything that isn’t jewel or phals it’s like above 50$ :/
Whaaaat! Where do you live?
I think I would try that on a paludarium coz humidity in paludarium is very high … hi ! I’m your silent subscriber 😊👍
💚💚
🐮❤️
💕
🥰
I see you have been researching. 😏 I just wanna let you know that the moss and bark method she does works for her climate. You are in California so I would say it works fine in your care too but it’s all depends on how often you would water them also… but you probably know that already. When it’s in humid condition, the moss might start moldy so watch out on that if you have humidifier near them. How are other orchids doing?
Lol yes I’ve become obsessed w orchid videos! I don’t use my humidifier anymore so I hope the moss won’t mold 😟 also all my other orchids are doing so well! I lost one but the rest are thriving
Very enjoyable video! Good tips and information as well. Your Orchids are beautiful! Such an elegant plant. Many thanks for this video and for helping me to decide to try growing.Orchids! I’m really looking forward to it! 👏🥰🪴
Update string of hearts pleaseeee ❤️❤️❤️
I suggest perlite instead of moss when combining w orchiata.
Variegated phals at walmart?! I guess I'll have to stop by more often lol. And where did you get that ceramic pot? It's so pretty!
At least yours had moss.....mine came with this weird spongy soil thing. Does not come apart easily and I had never seen it before
I am having an orchid that's having trouble I am going to try this method because I don't know what I'm doing when it comes to orchids
Hey now ,!
Hi Erica, I recently got an orchid from a local grocery store, in the middle of the roots there is plastic "cage" for lack of a better word....should I remove that and maybe repot?
Thanks! Another great video!
yes, definitely remove the cage!
@@ErikaLodes I will! Thanks for answering 🙂
Do you leave the stake in your orchids when repotting or is ot ok to take them out?
I take them out to make it easier, but if the flower can’t stand without it I’ll put it back after I’m done
I. always thought its best. to repot orchids once they've finished flowering?
It depends on the orchid, but phals are pretty hardy so you don’t have to wait.
@@ErikaLodes Good to know!! I need to repot some of mine haha
How come you need to put spaghmum moss with the orchard bark this mix of substrates? I just use soil with orchard bark mix. Do the blooms come back after they drop off? I only see new leaves grow but no flower blooms yet. I find my orchard roots they can look dry and crispy and white looking not healthy green like yours.
I haven’t seen anyone use soil for their orchids o: that is usually too dense a substrate, but idk if it works for you!
Sometimes the flower spike will grow some more flowers lower down after the old blooms die. Otherwise, you can cut off the old spike & a new one should grow maybe in the next year or two. When phals aren’t growing flower spikes, they are growing new leaves so it sounds like yours is doing ok. My roots can look white & crispy too if they need water. After soaking them for like 30 min, they will start to turn green again. So maybe they just need a good soaking?
I wouldn’t use a soil mix unless it was a terrestrial orchid such as a jewel orchid. You can easily cause an epiphytic orchid root rot using soil.
I went there and got 11
!!! That’s so many! Were they on clearance?
How are the orchids doing now?
Did you soak the bark in water before you repot it?
No, this bark doesn’t need to be soaked. But even if I use a different bark I still don’t soak it tbh
@@ErikaLodes i see thank you ☺️
I don’t do soaking too all my orchids seemed fine. but i watched some people they’re doing it just curious.
Hi there, is that orchid verigated?
Yes it is
You're so gorgeous. 😍🌺
Thanks 🤓
@wendy pearson how? It's a compliment and they didnt word it creepily they said it in a pretty normal way tbh.
