When I have to hook to a trailer that is left too low I just dump air bags and get under the trl and then raise airbags that way you don't have to crank so much if it's a heavy trl!
sadly my 2019 freight dont got that :( I wish it did lol

I used to work for roehl and their trucks didn't have the dump feature and the trailers would have busted cranks, and talk about being pissed lol
idk if you learned this yet or not, but if the trailer is too low, all you need to do is dump your bag and get under it. Then reinflate your bags before fully connecting. as long as the trailer will clear the tires that will help. also, keep some blocks in the truck. you can use them to raise the trailer yourself.
my truck wasn’t equipped with that feature but I know what your talking about lol
This is so helpful for anyone considering getting the CDL, and what the jobs actually like. I like the waking up at 2 in the afternoon! Id rather drive at night, if you even have a choice.

I've been repairing Photocopiers for over 40 years so this is totally a new adventure. I have watched a lot of other "trucker" you tubes but always come back to yours. Very positive and upbeat. I have a 19-year-old son (also a 26-year-old son). I hope to start the 19-year-old into trucking in a few years. We could do team. :-). Always do long vlogs and if the people don't want long ones just chop it into a bunch of small ones. Viewer hrs is important to your channel. Just keep it interesting as well.

I have trailers with the same winding mechanism here in Australia. The reason it pulls out and pushes in is because it has high and low range. What this means is you can select one or the other depending on the weight on the legs. Makes it much easier most of the time.

Most receivers will let use use their dumpsters as long as it's not a lot of stuff, commenting so long after video Because I just found your videos and am binge watching them.
There used to be real restaurants at truck stops. Like, real mom and pop restaurants. Not so much anymore though. I'm 38 now but when I was a kid I would always go to these truck stop restaurants because I loved the atmosphere. I live a half an hour from the largest truck stop in the world on I80 in Iowa.
Those old truck stop restaurants were the best in my opinion......homemade soups, breads, lots of tasty selections. Only went while traveling because was raised to only eat at home. Fast food is not my thing but I have found very few options that I will happily eat if I must.

Light on back of cab .....switch is on the dash .........buy a head lamp............landing gear handle was put on right side of older trailers back in the day to make sure drivers got out and look .......stay safe and keep the greasy side dwn

Freightliners have a utility switch on the console. I use it for unhooking at night.

You all may know this but I had to learn to look to the right and down to the fog line--that solid white line near the shoulder of road when an oncoming vehicle had their brights on. You will not get blinded when you do that, your eyes will be safely keeping you on track.

If the pins wont unlock on your tandems rock the trailer back and forth with the trailer brake set to take the pressure off the pins so they retract.

There should be a switch just to the right of the steering wheel on the dash labeled "utility light." That'll turn on the light at the back of the cab. I work at the West Valley terminal.

When you get of your drivers chair to drop your trailer or check the back always close your drivers door when you leave your drivers door open you give all kinds of bugs a chance to get in so close your door
Mine use to have a utility light switch in cab for that light where the air lines at
