damn, that's a nice jacket
Just started listening to Pentagram at 47 years old!
Never too late
He looks much healther here than in the documentary about him some years ago.
I seen it..his arm was nuts to see..he had no skin left on his forearm from scratching due to heroin use..hope it healed well
Yes he does. Also the way he is conversing.,he is present and you can see it! That is awesone
GOD BLEES HIM !
I would sure hope so.
what money can do for a person
I love how much passion Bobby has for rock n roll. His knowledge of lesser known bands is just awesome, he has the best taste in music
Bobby went through some serious shit over the years.. Its so great to see him doin well! KEEP ROCKIN!!
He's a fucking creep.
That's rude
Read about the last several bands that toured with Pentagram. He is a gross perv.
Everett.... Absolutely... I have been to several Pentagram shows, and actually, there's always lots of cute girls hanging around afterwards begging Bobby to take photos with him and talk to him... He's a super nice dude, he even did some radio promo spots for my show... Hung out with him backstage a few times... He seems to treat women with respect every time I've seen him...
Yes indeed... I know it was instilled in me very early on by my parents, but even though I didn't listen much (lol), I saw firsthand how men bullied and beat on women... Always sickened me, especially since all the hotties I wanted to be with preferred THOSE types of men...
At 3:21 Bobby discusses the "peanut butter" fight Iggy had with the audience at the Cincinnati Pop Fest. Fun fact: That was the same gig where Alice Cooper got into an "angel food cake" fight with the audience. Bottom line is: That Ohio crowd came armed with food for the performers that night!
Forever My Queen is a rock classic. Period.
UFO is one of the most underrated bands out there
Absolutely ... so is Roky Erickson & the 13th floor Elevators , mind you .
You know , it is strange cause people from bands keep on mentioning UFO as a main influence in what they do , and I mean people of King Diamond , Bruce Dickinson´s etc etc caliber ... still , people just don´t look for it , go figure .
Roky Erickson on the other hand just happened to have had a " ressurgence " during the last years of his life , which was well deserved , a legend like that dying without a shred of recognition would had been criminal . Still there were a LOT of Roky Erickson/13th elevators covers by very notorious rock/ Metal bands, we don´t need to go too far , I was introduced to Roky Erickson in the early-mid 90s by , out of all bands , - Entombed , with their " Night of the vampire " version which I 1st thought was their new single , and as a teenager I remember thinking : " Holy s*it ! These guys keep raising the bar in Death metal , this is unparalleled ... " ... little did I know the world which was about to open for me .
Some of the early Pentagram stuff does remind me of early UFO--dark, but psychedelic
@@impalaman9707 yeah, in fact early pentagram stuff is plain rock not even doom metal
@@NicolasSilvaVasault I feel the same way about Iron Butterfly and Blue Oyster Cult--people always try to put them in the "metal" category--(not "metal" to my ears!)
@@impalaman9707 blue oyster cult is easily in any top in my opinion, too bad, they're not too heavy for most people, i believe that's the reason they're so underrated
Saw him in dayton a few years back. Talked to him for about 10 minutes, cordial and lucid signed all my shit and went on stage and just killed it. Hope he stays healthy
It's good to see Bobby completely functional. Brings me a lot of closure seeing that film about him and all.
Good taste! Any metal guy that loves punk has an open mind in my book! Let that be a lesson to all you metal guys out there--embrace punk, the attitude is all the same
But the musicality is lacking
good to see him clean. a true legend.
It didn't last regardless. I think he's in prison now for domestic violence against his mother.
lol
Baltzeg reslly?
He was sentenced to 18 months for in prison for "Abuse and Neglect of a Vulnerable Adult Custodian," according to court documents uploaded on the Maryland Judiciary website. It's a shame that drugs have ruined someone with so much potential.
At least on methadone For his entire life..probally did some crack and smack on the side lol
I watched his documentary not too long ago and definitely recommend it to anyone who loves rock and roll. i cant imagine the incredible highs and completely miserable lows he must have experienced in his life. its amazing hes still alive and kicking. great picks as well.
joebowles06 what's the documentary called?
Angel Dunbar last days here
Man, when i saw the thumbnail i clicked so fast
Gonza Recchio Me too. I said out loud, "Oh shit!" Click!
instant classic episode
Makes me happy to see Bobby where he belongs, in the middle of music. Live forever man!
Props to his bringing up ROKY ERICKSON. Hr started his own genre. It's a hard night for alligators.
Never heard of him or alot of this music but I really like this guys vibe. Real music lover. Very knowledgeable. Down to earth guy.
In case you still haven't checked them out. The "Turn To Stone" Compilation album has a mix of some of my favorite songs from the first 3 albums
You should see the documentary about him Last Days Here
Pentagram first days here is a great album
None of this stuff is obscure. Raw power is legendary, as is white light/white heat. New York dolls followed the bands that made those and their first album is better than the second he’s getting, but I’m sure he has both already. The other Johnny thunders project is hard to say where it falls but is still huge to musicians, I think his so alone solo album is better personally. And ufo is mostly brought up by musicians of the time or played/toured with them, which he did and they were popular. Oh and Roku Erikson is a legend too, 13th floor elevators were great. He had 2 other main projects after that band I can’t recall if his brother got him to record anything after all the drugs and institutions but he did clean him up and get him playing again before he died. You can check out a good documentary on him, it’s usually streaming somewhere for free.
@@thorinbane Check out his album Relentless with Pentagram, some of the best doom metal i've heard
I love Pentagram. They have a lot of great songs.
Great selections from a legend himself
Heroin addict for 43 years? How is he alive
He's not, fucking look at him.
Plus 12 years of being addicted to crack as well. He could probably survive an atomic fallout.
He's looks damn good for a nearly 70 year old who's been addicted to drugs his entire life.
So says the rational mind instead of the heart. Dude still seems to have a lot of spirit, if you ask me. Bobby is a gentle soul and possesses the essence of life. Not unlike Iggy.
Heroin isnt actually bad for you ,compared to other narcotics
Bless Bobby. Glad he's off the smack, looks healthy here.
god bless you amoeba. lord knows what bobby's been through.
I love that his favorite color is pink, since my favorite color is pink.
Bobby for life, a true legend.
Watched "Last Days Here" after Ariel Pink recc'd it on his Whats in My Bag. Good to see Bobby looking so bright.
Got to meet Bobby in 2011 in New Orleans when Pentagram played. Super cool and laid back.
Get Wino or Matt Pike next!
Nick Stranger hell yeah!
MATT PIKE 4 PRESIDENT
Dude WINO. Fuck yes.
Wino is the Man!!!!!
Yes. Wino.
I watched this before the documentary. Its crazy seeing how straight and aware he is. Love you BOBBY!!!
He looks more vivid than ever! God bless Bobby Liebling!
Thanks for staying alive and all the great music.
And thank You very much for sharing OUR history! 🎸😆
A dear friend of mine and an absolute legend.
JOHNNY THUNDERS 🤘🤘🤘
You are a great man ,Mr. LIEBLING...your voice in THE LIMIT ,with SonnyVincent, is amazing.......un saluto dall Italia !!!!!✌
THIS is REAL MUSIC!!! Bless this beautiful man. A rare breed. :)
No way Nickleback rules, man.
picking roky and thunders twice? thought i couldnt love this guy more
He beat up his 91 year old mother.
Damn it! Now Carol loves him even more!
charming dude, great selection, I love all these bag filling trips
Good choices. Bought That Roky Album back around 1985. Still have it.
Great episode. And I own and adore every one of those records.
woah I can't believe this guy is still kickin' it!
Always heartwarming to see people bravely admit to struggles that not everyone can understand. Much respect and sympathy for an obviously thoughtful and passionate musician. Kudos to Amoeba for sharing honest portraits of fine musicians.
I'm 41 years old and have just discovered this band right now
Great Job...
Liebling is a legend of Rock!
It brings me so much joy to see Bobby sober, gigging, and thriving! Plus he has great taste in rock n roll!
Love Bobby, such a nice guy ! I was really lucky to meet him !
Nice guy ? He beat up his 80 yo mom for fuck's sake
TheGumboVariator didn't know that.
Also, he did it a few hours after I commented that and we learned about it a few days later
Nothing but classic records. Love it
I met him in 2015 \m/
I was so incredibly proud :-)
Saw them in Bergen, Norway couple of years ago. One of the best shows I ever saw!
after seeing his condition in the documentary i'm glad to see him looking healthier
Bobby: "Oh, you meant music??" Ha! I love Bobby and it's great seeing some of the artists he reveres.
I just knew that this guy is in pentagram, but never thought he would pick Johnny Thunders, good taste.
my favorite bag: The Stooges, Johnny Thunders and Velvet Underground
Do more of these. I LOVE Pentagram and Amoeba!!!!
+Christina Gina awesome! We have a lot more episodes on the way. Thanks for watching!
I have BEEN watching. For years! These rule for someone with a wide range of musical taste.
Iggy Pop, st.vincent, and elton john would be amazing to do for these....
Bobby Liebling... legends never die !
when i saw the docu about him I did not think he's going to make it! So happy to see his doing great. Even looks fantastic for an old(er)metalhead!
This video was posted the same day he was arrested for beating up his mom. What a man.
That is one crucial set of picks. Great taste man! RIP Roky
Maryland metal living legend.
He definately also had Kick out the jams also...as well as my favorite velvet underground record..he was on point ya'll
Bobby is one great dude,I clicked on this video so quick when I saw the words "Pentagram"
To me, one of the best doom bands of all time, rock on Bobby
I'm pretty sure I know what's in the bag Bobby Liebling!
He looks pretty lucid and healthy in this one, I hope he keeps doing well.
Bobby actually looks good in this video.. wow..
Also love the 'Making Contact' album by UFO. The Chapman-era is excellent.
I saw Bobby at a Germantown MD shopping center in 2014 walking to a Giant Food grocery store. Wow, he was great in the 70a-90s. The last time I saw Pentagram play was in the early 90a in College Park MD
Absolute legend!! Gotta love the guy!
Funny to see him here, since I learned about this guy when someone else on this show bought the film "Last Days Here"
Bobby Liebling did a great show three weeks ago with Pentagram at Wacken Open Air 2023 - W:O:A 2023 - (that is near Hamburg in Germany and one of the biggest and greatest Metal Festivals worldwide). Music and performance were absolut great. On stage Bobby Liebling made also some jokes and seems to be a nice man - as you can see in the interview. I think at Wacken it was one of his best performances. We were absolutely impressed 🤘🤘🤘
PS: We listened to the original Stooges album "Raw Power" : really harsh stuff on the ears like it's recorded on a tin can...
Saw him in Berlin two months ago in a small club called Lido. Before the show he just appeared out of nowhere in the bar area and also was the nicest guy imaginable. We took photos with him and he took his time for chatting and signing stuff.
Later that evening he just KILLED it on stage and the whole band was just amazing that night. I'm still stunned and so grateful to have met one of my favorite singers in person.
LEGEND
It’s interesting to hear his influences and tie it in to his music
Yes! I knew that he loved roky erickson ! One can actually hear some 13th floor elevators in a couple of pentagrams tracks!
Actually all copies of that Johnny winter album has 3 sides, if memory serves it was the first 3 side release, although that may have just been the first rock album to do so, the record company didn’t want to do it but Johnny insisted.
Pentagram is such a badass underrated band like what the fuck
I really loved how personal this one was.
It's so cool to see that he likes Roky!! Just saw Roky Erickson play a show a couple weeks ago, was fantastic
This dude namedropped UFO and Johnny Thunders. Awesome.
i love this dude
His jacket is so bad ass I love that color. I want a pentagram pin like his too.
THE Man..!!!! Thanx Amoeba...Pentagram/Bobby Liebling 4 LIFE
Such a killer interview/hang out..With Pentagram's Bobby Leibling..
One of the best ones I've seen. Bobby rulez! I saw MC5 in the pile. I guess he decided not to talk about that one. Too bad
glad to see he is okay after finding out about him in the Ariel Pink Video
bobby and Iggy! fucking priceless!!!
Bobby has great taste in music! \m/
soo happy to see him clean
melhor seleção de todos os "whats in my bag"
Great taste in music and a great guy. Keep on living
if there is one person i would like to sit down and talk music with.. its definitely bobby.
Saw a documentary about his life and struggles with drug addiction It was both heart breaking and scary.Nice to see him alive, clean from drugs and being overall healthy .
First of all PENTAGRAM absolutely rules and I’m soooo happy to see this video!!!! And secondly, He’s damn right about UFO.
Thank you amoeba I got into pentagram after watching this been listening to their album first daze here too for a whole two weeks already
That's awesome! Glad we could help make the introduction. Thanks for watching!
Amoeba y'all should get rocky Erickson on here.
Wow! For some reason i didn’t think Bobby would have such good taste in music. I’m impressed!
Its upsetting how little people know of UFO. Insanely awesome to hear all of their stuff is being re released
I personally love their early-70s stuff because its very psychedlelic and garagey!
Bobby is always great to hear
Love you, Bobby! Stay strong!
Welcome to Chile in Abril Bobby and PENTAGRAM!!!!
Holy crap it's the guy Ariel Pink was talking about in his episode. Good to see he's recovered.
I discovered this band 3 days ago. Now I am obsessed with this guy. Coolest guy alive. Still alive actually. I am impressed. Bobby Is god.
He is a devil, he is a really bad person.
No he isn't..
@@ginatafferty3910 Thank you Gina, this guy was very close to the devil and almost certainly still is, no wonder he's hurt so many people in his life.
How in the world people think this guy is wonderful I just don't know.
@@young321bookie religion is a construct humans made and nothing more. its fine to believe in whatever but don't call out other people for believing in what they want to believe.
I have abso fucking lutely no idea how I missed Pentagram. Watched the documentary about Bobby the other night..................................LEGEND
