There’s beauty in rain as long as it’s not flooding and taking out homes and hillsides. No rain, no green Hokkaido. Water is life John 🤙🏽
I just love that old ekiben shop on the platform! Rainy days are the best days for rail travel, watching the landscape go by as you eat your meal. Now that's travel.
Agreed. Perfect setting
THAT RAIN IS SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Especially with the super green trees at the station😍😍😍
Hokkaido trip in summer is great!! a lot cooler less rain!! would like to go there😍

Yes train with that bento!!! And Ikura my favourite!!!!! And scallops too!!! ?

Hokkaido Island, What a remarkable change with in about 125 yrs, A thick Jungle area Only with the Traditional Ino People. Now Providing nearly 50 % of the total Food Requirement in Japan. The whole island is so beautiful. Thanks dear John, for bringing back our fantastic memories. Take Care. Good Luck.
Thanks for taking us along in your travels. I hope to make some videos when I visit Japan
There is no Bad weather - only inconvinient clothes.
I Like you train Videos.
Thank you very much, John, for sharing your documentary with us
Time to catch up on my John travels! Funniest comment - train is on time …
Shintoku is another Fine small town in Hokkaido We still remember very Fondly.
Cool!✌️
So…. With all the rain, is there concern about wildfires? I’m in western WA. Rains a lot… right now even. Eastern WA gets much less rain and wildfires.🌨🌧⛈
You should try where I live. We seem to have an invisible rain shield over our city that all manner of rain storms and showers bounce off of and otherwise prevent us from getting any moisture... even if the rest of the municipalities around our city are getting flooded out. 😅😅😅
jumped from your live 'show' Kushiro back to train ride
Hmmm....so you put your bags above the seat you don't sit in? What happens to the people who are sitting there/
No one sat there the whole ride. It’s actually fine, because there was a luggage rack in the back and the no.1 priority is to store the bags safely BEFORE the train departs.
hi John, i thinking of going to hokkiado early Feb 2023, i might want to start the trip with Kushiro. would it be good to spent one night at kushiro ? or 2 night ? how about lake akan? , thanks for your advice
Hmmm is That not the KiHa serie train. I have been on the supper Hokuto fram Hakodate to Sapporo Nice ride.
Thank you for the interesting stream, a shame the reception was a bit spotty here and there but I guess that's to be expected in the more rural areas.
Hi, i’m planning to check out lake akan once i arrive in kushiro train station (from sapporo). I read there’s a bus that we can book in advance to go there, but i cannot find any websites. Do you have any tips on this?
What does the green stamp with the X through it on the door to each carriage mean? It is kind of like a 4 leaf clover.
Last time in Japan, I split my trip between Tokyo and Osaka/Kyoto. Took the Shinkansen 1st class. Would like to do the reverse, ie an overnight train next time.
Can you book a specific seat on a train or does the ticket machine randomly assign seat.
going Sahoro for ski. is the the train going from airport to Shintoku ? thank you
It seems like a very expensive train ride, but comparing it with car rental and other expenses, well, yes, it is a good option. Thanks for letting us know, John 👍
Cheaper than the Shinkansen, slower but very scenic route. Not enough trains in the day, only 6. It’s a nice option though! Lovely ride.
John you need a front and back pack. lady so pleasant at the wee shop, just makes the rest of day so much better. no tolls in Bonnie Scotland. lady on loud speaker, perfect diction. mandarin??? look forward to the rest of your trip enjoy your snack.
Wow, announcement in mandarin as well.
Please make a wish with ema at any Shinto Shrine once a week for me, write this "i hope Hermawan be health and be fresh as soon as possible", thanks for it.
Hi John, wondering what time you're planning the Q&A. Would love to attend
Thanks :)
Sounds like a diesel electric … thanks for trip. Train travel is coming back - less carbon foot print!
Yeah, John, You are on a very excellent tour, Covering Very Fine Places in Hokkaido . YES, Kushiro, A Well known Fishing Harbour, And a very Interesting Location too .
Please keep remember the Place. " Susikino" too in Sapporo City. Take Care. Good Luck John.
Uh I on mmm. N I’m in I’m on ok
So it looks like I won't b able to go to Japan 🇯🇵 n June bcuz they said a tourist would have to take a vaccine 3x which I'm not gonna do bcuz people still catch the covid even when they get the shot 💉😢😢😢😢
Well, I guess I'm able to go then.
if you look at the new proposed guidelines if you're from a blue region entering japan you dont need to show proof of vaccination
@@unitedweareinvincible8336 same!
Why all the difficulties with wearing a mask? It's simple, if you're out in public spaces with the potential for interaction with people, and unless you are about to consume a food item or a beverage item, you wear a mask! If you are at home, either alone or with your immediate family, you don't have to wear a mask. Simple. What don't people get? 🤯 😵💫. 🙄🙄🙄
😜
People are people, those who had 3-4 shots don’t want to live with masks anymore. They’re not scared to get sick and feel like it’s a punishment or certainly takes away from the fun of travel. I agree, it’s a small act and we’re still not out of the pandemic, but Japan has to open and that means having to deal with this NOW before the doors open.
@@The_Custos Hey, I've got all of my shots, boosters too, and while I may not wear my mask ALL of the time when driving, quite often I catch myself still wearing it out of habit, more than anything else. And until Covid is totally squashed like small pox, I think I'll just keep on wearing masks where-ever I go, thank you very much.
@@The_Custos My sister, an elementary teacher of kids, also prescribed to the theory that it was all a lie.
She got to experience Covid-19 twice... coincidently of course. She didn't like the first stay in hospital; she liked the second stay even less, but.... why bother masking now, she must be immune after all that....
She spent her 3rd Covid-19 at home for two weeks thankfully. In a camper to keep her own kids safe. Funny thing though, my brother-in-law, who is a junior high teacher, always masked up as a way of showing it wasn't such a hardship... he hasn't had Covid even once yet. Strange.
Very nice I can see the scope of where I would
be if I lived there in Japan.
Travel is going to be different from now on.
Stay safe be well.
