    There’s beauty in rain as long as it’s not flooding and taking out homes and hillsides. No rain, no green Hokkaido. Water is life John 🤙🏽

    I just love that old ekiben shop on the platform! Rainy days are the best days for rail travel, watching the landscape go by as you eat your meal. Now that's travel.

The whole island is so beautiful. Thanks dear John, for bringing back our fantastic memories. Take Care. Good Luck.

    So…. With all the rain, is there concern about wildfires? I’m in western WA. Rains a lot… right now even. Eastern WA gets much less rain and wildfires.🌨🌧⛈

      You should try where I live. We seem to have an invisible rain shield over our city that all manner of rain storms and showers bounce off of and otherwise prevent us from getting any moisture... even if the rest of the municipalities around our city are getting flooded out. 😅😅😅

    • @onlyinjapanGO
      @onlyinjapanGO  Před 2 lety

      No one sat there the whole ride. It’s actually fine, because there was a luggage rack in the back and the no.1 priority is to store the bags safely BEFORE the train departs.

    What does the green stamp with the X through it on the door to each carriage mean? It is kind of like a 4 leaf clover.

    Last time in Japan, I split my trip between Tokyo and Osaka/Kyoto. Took the Shinkansen 1st class. Would like to do the reverse, ie an overnight train next time.

    Can you book a specific seat on a train or does the ticket machine randomly assign seat.

    It seems like a very expensive train ride, but comparing it with car rental and other expenses, well, yes, it is a good option. Thanks for letting us know, John 👍

    • @onlyinjapanGO
      @onlyinjapanGO  Před 2 lety

      Cheaper than the Shinkansen, slower but very scenic route. Not enough trains in the day, only 6. It’s a nice option though! Lovely ride.

    Why all the difficulties with wearing a mask? It's simple, if you're out in public spaces with the potential for interaction with people, and unless you are about to consume a food item or a beverage item, you wear a mask! If you are at home, either alone or with your immediate family, you don't have to wear a mask. Simple. What don't people get? 🤯 😵‍💫. 🙄🙄🙄
    😜

    • @onlyinjapanGO
      @onlyinjapanGO  Před 2 lety +6

      People are people, those who had 3-4 shots don’t want to live with masks anymore. They’re not scared to get sick and feel like it’s a punishment or certainly takes away from the fun of travel. I agree, it’s a small act and we’re still not out of the pandemic, but Japan has to open and that means having to deal with this NOW before the doors open.

      @@The_Custos Hey, I've got all of my shots, boosters too, and while I may not wear my mask ALL of the time when driving, quite often I catch myself still wearing it out of habit, more than anything else. And until Covid is totally squashed like small pox, I think I'll just keep on wearing masks where-ever I go, thank you very much.

    • @steadholderharrington9035

      @@The_Custos My sister, an elementary teacher of kids, also prescribed to the theory that it was all a lie.
      She got to experience Covid-19 twice... coincidently of course. She didn't like the first stay in hospital; she liked the second stay even less, but.... why bother masking now, she must be immune after all that....
      She spent her 3rd Covid-19 at home for two weeks thankfully. In a camper to keep her own kids safe. Funny thing though, my brother-in-law, who is a junior high teacher, always masked up as a way of showing it wasn't such a hardship... he hasn't had Covid even once yet. Strange.
