Samoa Joe wrestled with both Kenta Kobashi and Misawa, arguably the two greatest of all time. And he's pretty good too, a really serious wrestler and, despite his appearance, a real sportsman.
Definitely one of Misawa's best matches from the last few years of his life. The one where he won the title from Marufuji and the one where he defended against KENTA in ROH were both also incredible imo
Compared to the work Joe was doing around this time and the few years prior in TNA, you could tell Joe was working a little soft with Misawa. It doesn’t do anything to sour the match, it’s just a bit different from how Joe was kicking the crap out Christopher Daniels and AJ Styles. I do like how Joe let Misawa stiff the hell out of his shots. They made each other look fantastic.
It's hard not to draw comparisons to Joe/Kobashi, since Misawa is also one of the pillars of Puro. Sadly, Misawa at this point was carrying a lot on his shoulders when he should have been winding down; he was in no shape to carry NOAH as the GHC champion when he won the title the previous year, let alone administrate and champion the company at the same time. Maybe Marufuji needed more time, maybe it should have been Morishima's time, Shiozaki has always been a good worker; I guess we'll never know. I'm glad we were able to get this match, and I hope it can be viewed in isolation from his past glories.
If i am not mistaken Mitsuharu Misawa was a former All Japan Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, he won that title when he defeat, the former AJTC champ Stan Hansen. Wow after all this years, i never thought that he was still active in pro wrestling world.
Samoa Joe in his prime a few years before TNA buried him under the Hogan-Bishoff regime. Also Misawa pins Joe clean here just 2 years before his in ring death from a belly to back suplex. And Japanese fans are far more respectful than the ignorant North Americans who cheer you one week and turn on you the next for no real reason.
What an autistic comment, the fact that you unironically use "Boreman Lames" just shows how much of an aspie you are. Your argument is fucking ignorant as well, facing two people doesn't automatically mean they should be pushed. Erick Rowan faced The Rock at WM, does that mean he should be pushed? Before you press your fat little fingers on your mother's iPad and say "he's better than Boreman Lames xD" you know the answer is he shouldn't.
The fact that Samoa Joe had highly rated matches with Kobashi and Misawa proves that Joe is one of the elite in ring workers in the world. Joe held his own against Kobashi and Misawa in entertaining matches. You can't compare that Erick Rowan's match with the Rock. Erick Rowan lost to the match against the Rock in a squash match that lasted 6 seconds. Obviously Rowan's match with the Rock wasn't meant to elevate Rowan or push him. In fact, the squash match further proved that WWE sees Rowan as an undercard jobber and harmed the credibility of the Wyatt Family. Rowan's match with the Rock was never meant to be taken seriously, while Samoa Joe's matches with Kobashi/Misawa were main event matches. Don't you have anything better to do than thinking your're a smartass? Why don't you jerk off to pictures of Roman Reigns you miserable faggot
Dean Falsetto and yet you say his comment was autistic. like he said, Joe fought two of the greatest, and even thought he lost both, he elevated his status by holding his own and showed that he belongs as a main eventer. but just wondering, why bring up the rowan squash match? it's not like anyone cared about that or wanted to remember it anyway. and about roman, I'm fine with him, but he does need a heel turn. how about you stop complaining about non wwe stuff and maybe watch something else for a change?
if he would had been in wwe he wouldn't get the respect what he got now he with other indie guys fought wars and then came to the WWE which made WWE desperate to sign them and as for Roman he needs more improvement u cant say hes great and u defiantly can't compare Joe's matches With Rowans match with the Rock it was a joke....
Good match but damn Joe literally dominated the entire thing and lost like nothing. Then again, Misawa is old here and a legend but idk much about Japan wrestlers like that. Good match thou!
Really wish Misawa san retired in 2005. I mean this match is great but his body was falling apart and he kept pushing on. I would give anything to see him living today. Him and Vader are my wrestling heroes.
19:30 That Emerald Fusion is one of the many spots that attributed to Misawa's untimely death. You can't teach that kind of toughness in this business. Even some of the close calls I've had after working 10 years don't match up to what Misawa did.
Great match 4 stars. Joe the consummate wrestler vs MM the legend. Missawa was near the end if his prime and should have retired and become head trainer of Noah. Great match
He wanted to retire, but he couldn't because Noah was starting to have serious economical problems, and his presence in the ring attracted lot of people.
Misawa wrestled way too long; he was a shell of his former self and its a little sad to watch this. Joe did what he does; one of the best physical workers in the business for a very long time
Jim Jax Media Misawa became a brawler, but time did not take away his pace, selling and mind. This is a great match, he knows his limits and puts joe over even in a win.
its a weird feeling cuase u love to see joe vs misawa and it was awsome but its sad cuz u see misawa was not in the best shape compare to other show but the man is a fkg machine so rip the greatest nest to kobashi
+dewitt anderson It doesn't take that long to learn the style. He was also there to help train people and grow the brand. Heels especially work well as trainers, because a heel controls the match.
NXT needs star power that why he was sent. He was there just to help build the brand and HHH knew how to work NXT despite its developmental its almost like a third brand.
Of course he had. Anyone would have. But he also should not have been in a main-event position at this stage, either. He should have been able to go to Baba-style multi-mans.
@@mike_mcgb I agree, the Japanese are always super kayfabey even amongst the other workers. Perhaps his injuries were already life threatening at this point?
Joe must've felt good about facing a legend like Misawa
Ofcourse
I think he really did.
He also faced Kobashi

“Pretty good” would be a huge understatement. He’s without question one of the goats, period.
Just for wrestled Kobashi & Misawa makes Joe a living wrestling legend
Definitely one of Misawa's best matches from the last few years of his life. The one where he won the title from Marufuji and the one where he defended against KENTA in ROH were both also incredible imo

so much respect for JOE for taking that brutal elbow to the back of his head
submission spectacle turned into vicious elbows, I love it.
Joe can say that he has versed Kenta Kobashi and Mitsuharu Misawa. What a flex
R.I.P Misawa
This was a decent match, but a prime Misawa vs Joe would be NUTS
It's hard not to draw comparisons to Joe/Kobashi, since Misawa is also one of the pillars of Puro.
If i am not mistaken Mitsuharu Misawa was a former All Japan Triple Crown Heavyweight Champion, he won that title when he defeat, the former AJTC champ Stan Hansen. Wow after all this years, i never thought that he was still active in pro wrestling world.
He won it two times from Hensen, two from Kobashi, and the last one from Vader, then he left AJPW.
@@Pienotto and he also won against jumbo tsuruta one time
? Misawa died in 2009, unless you're talking about Hansen who is retired.

Lol
Facts
Odd. Most of the time I have ever seen fans turn on wrestlers in North America, It usually had a specific reason for it.
I’m surprised there aren’t many more Samoa Joe matches for Japanese promotions.
watch zero 1 wrestling samoa joe vs masato tanak . he was nwa intercontinental tag team champion and ghc tag team champion.
Joe did a great job in carrying a clearly very broken down Misawa here.
Samoa Joe, the only WWE wrestler who can claim to have fought with both Misawa and Kobashi. Yet WWE still pushes Boreman Lames over Joe.
What an autistic comment, the fact that you unironically use "Boreman Lames" just shows how much of an aspie you are.

Hideo Itami,Ohno, and Bobby Fish can say that too
My first time seeing Joe in Japan
To think these two met in the ring!! Misawa is and was a legend.🤘🤘✌️✌️✌️🔥🔥🔥😎
Good match but damn Joe literally dominated the entire thing and lost like nothing. Then again, Misawa is old here and a legend but idk much about Japan wrestlers like that. Good match thou!
In late part of Misawa's career, he put a lot of young talents over. Plus NOAH was a very new company and needed him to to this kind of work.
Awesome.
Magnificent match.
Good match ! I’m hooked on this channel !
Samoa Joe is an absolute legend.

Pretty sure Joe has admitted in an interview that the last elbow to the back of his head knocked him out cold for a shoot.
Descanse en paz el Dios Mitsuharo Mizawa.
That was a great match
I wish NOAH still had the green mat

That final elbow was fucking brutal!
Nice match

Watching misawa take a musle buster was hard

Jim Jax Media just thinking that. He wasn’t in the best of health at this point
Still better than 9/10 past prime guys tho. Nothin sad about this match
And then we had Undertaker vs Golberg in Saudi Arabia who brought "wrestled way too long" to the whole new level.
I wish Misawa kept himself up versus chainsmoking. It didn't do anything but help destroy him!

This is the first time I saw Samoa Joe run out of steam.
Great match. Kinda funny that they have the same haircut

such a shame that someone as talented and experienced as Joe was put into a developmental roster before he was put into the wwe main roster

+dewitt anderson It doesn't take that long to learn the style. He was also there to help train people and grow the brand. Heels especially work well as trainers, because a heel controls the match.

Samoa joe vs king of elbow and king of chop
It’s funny how (seemingly) surprised they were how nimble Samoa Joe was in relation to his frame.
