I bought this album back in the early eighties not realising it was unnoficial, but the sheer power and honesty (even with the mistakes!) make it one of my all-time favourite live albums. Tony actually detuned starting from Sabbath's third album Master of Reality to relieve the stress on his fingers, making Sabbath one of the first metal bands to detune. So Tony not only "invented" metal, he reinvented it.
Having bought every Ozzy-era Sabbath album by the time I was in the 7th grade, I was sad, thinking that there was nothing "new" left for me to hear (this was the late-80s). Then one day I found this live tape for $1 at a gas station and I was blown away. Unofficial perhaps, but totally badass.
Patrick Sullivan I still have my vinyl lp from the time it was released. This is my favorite version as well. Yes, that feedback in the beginning is wicked. - Jason MOTÖRHEAD McVey.
This has always been a favorite of mine. When I was 21 and living alone, I would blast this shit, get drunk, go to the psyche ward, wash and repeat! Fucking good music.
@PietroRumenta Pretty sure Iommi used C# tuning from Master of Reality onwards, so around about 1971. Only the really early stuff is in standard tuning.
You know those advisory/warning things you get on a few records , well, this should have a "PLAY LOUD"! , STICKER ON IT , as , it definitely becomes ALIVE , when its REALLY CRANKED UP , no fairy dust here , no mastering, or, engineering ,or post production ... just "LIVE" ,so , if you were unfortunate in not being there , and seeing the band live , crank it up , LOUD , ... now you know !
@IROCZ305 He was detuned, yes, he was, but just half a tone. As you said, only the early stuff is in standard tuning, if I'm not mistaken they started detuning with Sabbath Bloody Sabbath album, but just in D#, not as low as this one. We can only suppose that they just tried that tuning that night or that tour, perhaps just Ozzy was sick and his throat hurt and they helped him by detuning their instruments.
Very late reply, but Iommi only used C# tuning from Master Of Reality up to Sabotage both live and in the studio. SBS was definitely not in D# though. In '76 he went back to E standard for Technical Ecstasy
Someone should remix this track by separating the bass from the mix & then layering to outstanding proportions and splicing it back in. SO YOU GET THAT REAL FUNKY.SOUND.
I don't think so. This is perfect example of production that is by today's standards considered as subpar, but here we can hear unpolished brutal yet clear sound. I think that any intervention would decrease the quality. We don't hear things the same way, yes, but I wouldn't like someone to mess this album. For me, it's perfect as is.
Does anyone know why on that night they were tuned so low? It's not normal and they never did so. This live is detuned a lot. It's C# if I am not mistaken.
I never liked when they started tuning down to C sharp and would play songs from "Black Sabbath" or "Paranoid" they dont sound right. I mean by this time dont you think they could have afforded another guitar/bass kept to standard tuning for pre "Master of Reality" material.
Tony’s guitar cutting in like it does at 0:30 is one of the most intimidating sounds ever
Yeah indeed nothing Beats that feedback
Zach Bartlett dominance
The most heavy thing I have ever heard. That beginning that you mentioned at 0:30 sounds like a roar from a T-Rex.
Man, the feedback is hair raising, best guitar tone ive ever heard
There'll never be another Tony Iommi!!!
czcams.com/video/i0EXS8KR2OI/video.html this is My fav Black Sabbath show Tonys Tone is lethal here

Technically it's official. Whether the band likes it or not.
Tombstone Tony at his most feedbacked lethal. One of the best rawest live albums ever.

This is my all-time favorite recording of this song. The feedback at beginning is awesome!! I owned this Cd when it was considered a pirated album!
Patrick Sullivan I still have my vinyl lp from the time it was released. This is my favorite version as well. Yes, that feedback in the beginning is wicked. - Jason MOTÖRHEAD McVey.
Indeed.
Best live album. Brutal and raw
this will always be the first live Black Sabbath album
100 per cent true there , no doubt !
I love this album. So raw and low
My first black Sabbath album still got it after 36 years.
BLack sabbath: black sabbath black sabbath 36 years sabbath
Me too ;)
Christ, you lot were later on parade - they'd been going over a decade when this got released. Not that the Band had anything to do with that either.
Do they have it on vinyl? I used to have the cassette tape.
@@Kwinquark1some people are late. My dad only found out about them in the 80s and they're his favorite band.
This is the best, most heaviest version of this song - praise Iommi
0:30 guitar translation: "Hell yea"
This has always been a favorite of mine. When I was 21 and living alone, I would blast this shit, get drunk, go to the psyche ward, wash and repeat! Fucking good music.
I’ve never resonated with a comment so much in my life
Allright Yeah!! I fucking love Ozzy's voice! Especially right at the end. 🤟
0:30 nothing Beats Tonys feedback sounds haha this just sounds like rusted metal scraping against metal haha
Bootleg Sabbath with some killer jams..Supernaut Cornucopia stand out ..
if you wanna get up man, do it, don't just sit there !
Damn Geezer was loud as fuck🤘🏻Sabbath best band ever 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
0:29 Ozzy: YEahh !
Iommy: UUhuu !!
I got this album at J.C. Penny's at the music section in the 70's. Love the rawness of it!!!
Es uno de los mejores álbumes en vivo de todos los grupos y de todos los tiempos
Con esas rolas para puro conocedor, recordando a mi carnal EL FRIJOL,en paz descance

@PietroRumenta Pretty sure Iommi used C# tuning from Master of Reality onwards, so around about 1971. Only the really early stuff is in standard tuning.
And technical ectasy
Never Say Die as well
Appreciated! but it gets cut nearly the end. I love you for posting this. Hope you fix that little issue
I bout this LP for £1 at a charity shop.
haha me too!! Best part, not one scratch. It's grey now.

I have The Damned’s debut album on CD and it says something similar to this.

Brian Highfill well, Sabbath always did take from Blues, it doesn’t surprise me that this track sounds almost kinda funky

Smile. \m/ ' [-_-] ' \m/....Bye... Bottoms up and cheers... Stay loud, stay proud, stay heavy. Take care, and be safe ....... #Adanporsiempre ......
The feed back sounded like ozzy's goooooo!?!
Great musical energy, but I like it much better in the original key of E... partly because Ozzy can't handle such low vocals.
Does anyone know why on that night they were tuned so low? It's not normal and they never did so. This live is detuned a lot. It's C# if I am not mistaken.
PietroRumenta sounds a bit lower than c# btw
Have you heard how low the verse is to sing? That should be a massive clue to you
Cocaine. Lol.
Only two verses I. this song and Ozzy still finds a way to screw up the lyrics by forgetting the second verse. Its allright...its rock and roll!
:D
luke's wall
1:48 someone farts.

Wicked world sounds incredible on this recording
