The Untold Truth Of Wendy's

- A lot of people who are critical of the hamburgers at McDonald’s and Burger King will still admit that Wendy’s is pretty good, and the fast food restaurant has prided itself on its quality burgers since opening in 1969. The company has a fascinating history, as its founder actually used to work at Kentucky Fried Chicken (where he invented something major), and he never expected that Wendy’s would be anything more than a local hamburger joint. From the history of the Frosty to the reason why their burgers have always been square, let’s take a look at the untold truth of Wendy’s.

What's your go to meal at Wendy's?
Fries dipped in a frosty xD
Large vanilla frosty, large fry and 6 nuggets.
Sure.
i dont have wendy's in my country😭
Baconator, 4piece nugget, and a medium frosty
You forgot about “Wendy’s wonderful kids” the nonprofit devoted to adopting older children. Dave Thomas was a huge advocate for adopting children from the foster care system!!
Brittney Lara pretty sure that’s cause he was adopted himself and wanted to pay it forward (if I still have my facts strait. Been a few years since I’ve reread over it but I did a biography on him once).
liar.
KATIELOVEHU TV who you calling a liar 🤣
According to his life story, Dave Thomas was adopted himself.
I farted 😎
When I worked at Wendy's, they said the burgers are square because "we don't cut corners" lol. Great first job
lil epidural lol I work there now and they still say it 😂
lil epidural that’s awesome dude xD. I’m gonna remember that.
supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. Dude you got that from Wendy's social media clap back lol
@@shutterbuggfan no, thats their literal store motto they teach new employees
@@Yousuck00 Its not frozen but when they cook it, instead of making new meat when it looks dry some store sell it when the general manager isn't around to keep from wasting meat
I worked at Wendy's in HS in 1979. Got my little brother in too. Wore that striped uniform at 1 minute in. Dining room had those plastic beads hanging all around and carpeting. Single was 95 cents. Min wage was 2.90. Burgers, fries, chili, frosty and pop/tea was the whole menu. Frosty machine smelled like liquor at the end of the day. Lost my virginity with a girl who worked there and my brother is still married to a girl he met there...
Soo good or bad😂😂
Amazing story. Do you lose your virginity in the restaurant?
Most people today don't realize that back in the early 70's, the food at Wendy's was INCREDIBLE. It was like homemade - thick, juicy burgers. Everything was fresh. Now it's a pale shadow of what it used to be. It still decent by fast food standards, but those standards have lowered dramatically over the years.
@Cherish God
I remember my experiences there very well back in South Florida. When Wendy's came out we couldn't believe it was supposed to be like a Burger King or a McDonald's because it was more like real restaurant food...or home made :)
I worked there in high school...so circa 1990. Anyone remember the Superbar? It had Italian, Mexican & a salad bar/potato bar. They tore them out of all the stores.
Also back then, the burgers that were cooked but stayed on the grill too long went into a pan of water that was also on the grill to keep it hot. Then it was used for the next day’s chili.
I'm a truck driver and quite a few Wendy's franchises that are located in truck stops have a full breakfast menu. In my opinion they have the best breakfast items of any fast food chain. I would love to see it expanded to every Wendy's restaurant.
What about the fact Wendy’s refuses to source tomatoes from companies that don’t exploit their workers? Google it. IRC training is where I learned this.
I'm an avid Wendy's fan so I'm not sure why I opened this video expecting them to reveal negative things. Thankfully it was all positive and reaffirmed my love for it!
NNelson I’m a Wendy’s fan as well
Me too. It's the main go-to fast food for me.
Didn't know he came up with the chicken bucket for KFC
I moved someone where that doesn't have a nearby Wendy's and I had my first Wendy's in 3 years a couple months ago. It was blessed.
I used to love to go to Wendy's when I was a kid because they had those shiny foil wrappers. No other restaurant had that. Oh, the food tasted good too.
It’s surprising that Dave Thomas didn’t take advantage of the G.I. Bill after serving in the Army.
I've lived in Columbus Ohio my whole life, and seen a lot of Wendy's test market items. Their breakfast was the best fast food breakfast ever. It only lasted for a few months. I was so disappointed when they stopped serving it.
huntman1412 - Hi! There are still some locations. One is in Dublin, OH near Polaris Mall, and back about 14 years [not sure if these ones still do], the Wendy's on High Street near OSU campus did. There are probably ones in Columbus and vicinity that do.
roxcyn I'll check that out. I live near high Street. Thanks!
huntman1412 - you're very welcome. Let me know if they still serve it. 👍
Gold Bar - you're more than welcome to come live here. 🙂
Here in robison Texas we serve breakfast
It ends at 10:30am
Too bad they don't have a 99 cent value menu anymore.
Toonami30 ikr!!!! #missinthe90's!!!
$1 double stack
no more 1$ double stack fam ^
We stopped that last week.
Cornhub Comment Reviews You're a week late.
Another little known fact: wendy's cannot expand to The Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg because of a single dutch snackbar that has the trademark for "Wendy's" in those countries.
In highschool used to get 3 junior bacon cheeseburgers 2 orders nuggets with honey mustard and a frosty all for 99 cents a piece... I miss those prices
If it’s a chocolate frosty that’s my exact meal I get
So many of these videos expose the unpleasantness of food places, but this one is so wholesome. :)
As much as I hated working at Wendy's, I always loved the burgers there. Yummm, nice and cheesey and greasy, just like a burger should be, and the value menu is actually worth the few extra cents!
Much respect for Dave. Wendy's use to have good fries back in the 80s. Not now IMO
when I see Wendy's I remember Wendy's roasting people at social media xD
I'll always love Wendy's. Those late night drive thru experiences with a 99 cent Jr Bacon and some Spicy Nuggets. We were totally high and loved every second of it.
Not only did Dave take the square patty idea from Kewpee's, but he also took the Frosty (aka malt) and fresh never frozen beef idea as well. My go to meal at Wendy's is either the Spicy Chicken Sandwich, Dave's Double, or Baconator.
I love their nuggets but I can't wait to try their frozen like milkshake. They have REALLY good food. Thanks so much for this.
One Sad Furfag that's true. I guess that's why I haven't had ice cream at ANY place for so long. But I guess I'll take my chances once in a while because of the new ones coming I
Wonka HP MSP the frosty? What kinda freak goes to Wendy’s and doesn’t get frosties?
Erron Black me. I'm from a health conscious family so i can't get fries or shakes or ice cream most of the time. But it helps
@@erronblack308 I'm diabetic. I punish my body enough when I order the Dave's Double large Combo (with diet cola), so I sadly skip the Frosty.
When Wendys discontinued spicy chicken nuggets they became dead to me.
Four Ninety Five ask for spicy chicken in a platter, its the same spice and better if you ask me.
And MacD's selling them now...but it taste like..Shi*
Four Ninety Five,
I have a sneaky suspicion they are returning. Stores again have available space to hold them after cooking, which was given up originally for the introduction of chicken strips. These strips are now discontinued. We refuse to leave that space empty as a corporation.
Good luck!!
@@gajebangetplis12 Everything at McDonald's tastes a little "off", so processed.
Spicy nuggets at Wendy's ought to be here by next month. Source: Work at Wendy's and we just got spicy nuggets stocked last week.
Nothing better than a Wendys double, fries and a Frosty! I don't even think of it as fast food! Thanks Dave!
In the late Nineties/Early Aughts I use Wendy's 99c menu as a measure for all food purchases, and even some non-food purchases!
The best deal on the 99c menu was either the Double Stack, two beef patties with cheese ketchup/mustard/pickles/onions, or the Juinor Bacon Cheese Burger.
So if I went to Perkins and got a $8 thing of chickenstrips and frys, I would measure it against 8 double stacks. Or a steak Dinner for $18, that could be 18 Jr.bcburgers
Their fries and spicy chicken have gone down hill. I miss 90s Wendy's
I miss the biggie option
I remember the chicken sandwiches, both grilled and fried, many years ago, and they were MUCH BETTER than the current sandwiches today. I truly miss the superior products.
I WORK AT A WENDYS AND FOOD HASNT GONE DOWN HILL
And now...We Beefin?
SilverArmyGuy The mixtape
*I am watching this in the car while having Wendy’s after a terrible experience*
I live in a city where Wendy's went out of business. Then a few years later they came back and I'm happy they did. I go here once a month and make a whole date around it with my wife...lol silly but it's better than most burger places
When I worked at McDonalds 20 years ago, we'd constantly have people ordering milk shakes with their meals and asking for spoons with them. Then they'd complain that our shake wasn't thick enough. They were so used to having Wendy's allow a frosty to be substituted for the drink, that they associated the milk shake as being the exact same product. The phrase "It's not a f*cking frosty" became something we'd say under our breath out of earshot of customers.
BfDelano Why didnt you just serve the milkshakes upside down to show off the thickness. 🤔
I would have loved to have served them upside down, and dumped straight into their cars.
You horrible person, how dare you expose the minds of our children to terrible words such as fr*ck and h*ck? Think about what you write, young man!
Fuck off Olga.
BfDelano this a Christian website how dare you lol
You can still find Kewpee in Lima, OH. It's like eating at a Wendy's that decided it didn't want to expand nationally...which is exactly what happened.
Wendy’s will forever be my go to fast food!
Wendy’s is my favorite (traditional) national fast food chain!
I miss the Dave Thomas commercials :(
Wendy's made me like burgers again. The baconator is to die for.
You mean the breadonator with tasteless beef?
Wendy’s has the BEST burgers! We grew up on them. Dave seemed like a sweetheart and Wendy seems like a solid human being. I’ll always support Wendy’s.
I beg to differ.
I love Wendy´s , used to work for them when in H.S. in Fla.
Literally just ate Wendy's. lol 4 for 4 plus an extra value menu burger. I'm stuffed. 😋
Andy Mejia that shit wavvy
Jaqua Brown Actually, that is incorrect, because you are indeed still a virgin. Maybe one day bud. Maybe one day.
I disagree
Andy Mejia with a looming hesrt condition
Parker Whats a hesrt condition?
Many years ago I worked at a Wendy's that served breakfast. They had the best biscuits and gravy!
I've always liked Wendy's. When i was a kid there was one maybe 2 miles from our house, and we went there regularly. Fresh meat is always best. I only have Wendy's maybe once a year now, because there are none in the foothills where i live. We do have a Carl's Jr though☺
I remember really loving Wendy's sausage biscuits in highschool and wish they never took it away! Also I feel like Wendy's home style chicken is so good if they try breakfast one more time I really hope they attempt chicken and waffles because I feel they can do it right .
Who else was planing to go to Wendys after this?
Ordering a Biggie meal brings back memories.
The Wendy's I live next to has a breakfast menu. It's "okay", though their honey butter chicken biscuits are pretty amazing!
Their spicy chicken sandwich was my go to until Chick Fil A came to town.
The best underrated items for each fast food joint:
Mcdonald's: Iced Frappe, because their iced coffee is terrible imo
Burger King: Mozzerella sticks, haven't had them in a while but iirc they taste the same as Arby's but cheaper and come with marinara sauce
Wendy's: Chili, I don't go there often, but you can get a lot of chilli for a cheap price
Arby's: French Dip, but it's not for everybody. OR get a large curly fries for a cheap upsize which is absolutely essential if you are sharing. You can also get a free Beef 'N Cheddar if you sign up on their website if you want to get your value
Dairy Queen: Nothing really underrated here that I can think of, the $6/7 meal deal is the best value going around
KFC: ALWAYS ASK FOR WHITE MEAT
A&W: Either the buddy burger or its chicken variant, you get some good value, or you can even order a float if you like that stuff which lots of people don't know about
Mary Brown's: (This one is a Canadian fried chicken joint, not sure where else in the world it is) Their fries are top tier fast food fries, always hot, a little bit crispy, and have a potato taste to them, with the option to switch to taters. The place is expensive but there are a few ways to get your value
Feel free to add anything else to the list for the sake of value or good taste, fast food is always good in moderation! 👍
superWTF64lol A&W is also Canadian but your right, the buddy burgers are great
The meaning of the square meat actually stands for "We never cut corners." I work at wendys in Maryville TN
They have gotten so expensive
It's Cakey because they use more quality ingredients than mcdobalds
nothing to see here Even though that's true we all know people are gonna go for the cheaper option
nothing to see here nope all Fast food places use crappy food
Where I'm at it's just $8.10 for a Dave's Double medium combo and I think it's worth it
Kids meals are 1.99 ! I feel like they've gotten cheaper.
Wow I thought this was gonna be a video exposing Wendy's. But Wendys is too god damn good for it to be exposed
They changed the size of their burgers. Used to have lots of overhang. Not anymore. Still the best burger between them, McD's and Burger King though.
Wendy’s really should do breakfast full time
Sanskar Wagley my girlfriend cooks breakfast
Sanskar Wagley... i agree Wendy's should serve breakfast! Sometimes it gets a bit boring just wating burgers lol
They tried in my area a few years ago and it failed.
Every fast food restaurant should. But you're not wrong lol
We had too many mixed reviews and it's that much more work opening the store in the morning. Just me as a minor, I have to spend three hours getting the store ready.
Chili can be served with cheese!!!!!!!
Damn straight!
They also had a salad bar and works bar with toppings for your burger.
Dave Thomas was an amazing man!
Yes he was.
The thing i love about wendys is if you talk shit to them on twitter they will greet you with slick responses!
WHY I SWITCHED FROM WENDY’S TO ARBY’S...
Wendy’s chose HOLIDAY TIME to replace the vanilla Frosty with birthday cake Frosty instead of the much more natural choice: the traditional holiday favorite: EGG-NOG.
ARBY’s on the other hand serves up their delicious seasonal EGG-NOG shake during the holidays.
Wendy’s COULD HAVE given us an egg-nog Frosty during the holidays and birthday cake Frosty any other time of the year, but “NOOOO! We couldn’t do THAT!” thought the ‘thinkers’ at Wendy’s. They should have at least kept the vanilla so we who appreciate traditional holiday flavor could have stirred some cold creamy delicious egg-nog into our Frosty, but again, “NOOOOO!” decided the Wendy’s decision makers. “We’ve got to do birthday cake for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas...SCREW TRADITION and GOOD TASTE!”
I don’t know how the other lovers of holiday tradition and good taste are responding but I’m done with Wendy’s. ARBY’s will be my go-to year round from here on out.
I work at a Wendy's in Utah and we are going to start serving breakfast really soon. I'm doing the breakfast training this week.
After Dave Thomas passed on the chain went down hill. Now the food is way over priced and does not taste good. Miss the old Wendy's.
Thats your opinion
@@jdogwoof66 he's very correct I second that motion 4 over a decade I've referred to Windy's this food as cold and wet...
the burger is hard to leave warm the cheese is never melted and the bun is always soaked in fuckin wet!!
of course here within the past three years it's like no fast food joint can melt the cheese anymore even Good old reliable McDonald's can't even do that
Wendy's also have the square patties to show their competitors that they don't cut corners :)
I want to eat the Pretzel Burger again. That burger was the reason I got back into eating at Wendy’s
I currently work at Wendy’s. Awesome job. And the burgers are square because “they don’t cut corners” but Fr if ur looking for a good first job then Wendy’s is the place to go.
Wow. This is much better review than other channels like "The Richest"
The frosty was actually made in Findlay, Ohio in which Dave took some "inspiration" from and the store is still open so eat up!
I love Wendy's
Jay Christy me too 😃😋🍔
Good.
I really miss that Mandarin Chicken Salad. The dressing with the almonds, oranges, and crunchy brown things lol.
It used to use KFC same recipe, ever since Dave died his daughter wanted wraps that the KFC recipe rips the wraps. So his daughter watered them down eliminating the crunch
True story
I work at wendys and it sucks
The Brazilian Bandit From Japan same here
How?
-anyone that has ever worked in fast food lol
Their food was the bomb when I worked there especially when the Baconator just came out.
I haven't been to a "Wendy's", in a long time. Next month, though I think that a friend of mine and I will stop by there and have lunch. She also wants to try a Frosty, which she has never had before. I personally am looking forward to eating a "Dave's Double" or perhaps one their cheaper sandwiches or burgers. Can't wait to indulge! Thanks for the upload! 😊😎
You're looking forward to tasteless beef? I can't taste it.
A family tradition was to eat lunch at Wendy's Sundays. About 14 of my family members would meet there at have a great time. Unfortunately the younger generation stopped a two decade tradition. The two Wendy's in the area have chosen to have illigals working there one was in upper management and was only hiring other illigals unfortunately most spoke zero English. One of the stores had immigration come in and took 6 employees out in handcuffs. It's extremely unfortunate that some people really think that English isn't America's language but in the late 1700s it was English was made our official language. The German language was very close.
Love Wendy's -- much preferred over other fast-food stops.
He actually took everything from kewpie burger, kewpie may of started in Michigan. But they are a ohio based company now. If anyone gets a chance to go to one do it. It’s literally a fresh Wendy’s, their frostys are more creamy and the burgers taste real and not like fast food. It will blow your mind.
they need to bring the spicy chicken nuggets back
They are August 19th
:)
Wendy's is definitely the best of the top fast food joints.
Not too long ago the owner of Wendy’s transferred ownership to two young entrepreneurs so we might eventually see breakfast as a thing sometime in the future as they’re changing the restaurants to be more modern and like McDonalds
If you ever do run across a Wendy's that serves breakfast get you some. Is very good stuff.
I think they are generally located near larger interstate interchanges.
Fun fact there's at least 1 Wendy's that serves lunch 24hrs a day
I remember Wendys tasting better back in the 80s early 90s they also had a kick ass salad bar. It was the best fast food chain.
i will pass this on to you folks.
order:
Jr. Cheesburger deluxe
Baked Potato
Sm drink
tell them to make it a combo.
this will only cost you 2.99
your welcome
SII-VII thanks🍔
Lies
One Sad Furfag oo man they prolly didn’t put it as combo, it’s 3.14$ tax included here in florida
SII-VII - is that a promotion? I saw that a while back. That's not a bad deal, though, if it's that price!
Yeah i used to work at wendys and the cashier can get in trouble since that’s a huge food cost right there especially when the potato is like $2.50
I’ve never gone back since they discontinued the Monterey ranch chicken sandwich of the early 90’s.
Fun fact....they scrape the grill...grease and all..to make their chili .
Wendy's is the only burger I like to eat when I go for fast food. I get 2 cheese burgers and a Jr bacon cheeseburger and a cup a water every time I go
The dude droped out of high school, worked at kfc and created the chicken bucket, the created Wendy's. Dont tell me you dont love this dude.
I would love to try wendys, but I never seen any Wendys in Europe: I doubt many over here even knows what Wendys is
You didn’t mention that Wendy’s stole their ideas from Kewpees.
Wait wait wait wait wait...
He's the founder of the KFC bucket
This man was a Genius!!🍗😆
Yeah~ my mom loves it
Number 15 - Burger King Foot lettuce
I am thoroughly impressed with Wendy's when Dave Thomas was at the helm, But.. Since then, the burgers, chicken sandwiches, and fries have, in my opinion, dropped in quality and/or size to the point where Wendy's is not a go to for me any longer. I'm sad more than anything. The Tripple was always my first choice among the big chains. Alas, no more. The beef is always over cooked and the chicken is a mere ghost of what it was. And the fries are not worth eating. I miss Wendy's. The real Wendy's. I miss Dave.
@ImAEpicCoderGaming Animations That's false. They changed the burgers and fries in 2011 for worse when they changed the original recipe. The burgers and fries tasted so much better back then
Yeah, that's the sad part. Swing by my store some time. We have the best food reviews in the area.
I used to go to Wendy’s all the time. I would always get a coke and a chocolate frosty. Every time. Then for whatever reason I would drink them together...it makes me laugh thinking about why I did that xD. Haven’t been to a Wendy’s in years now.
Wendy’s > Burger King > McDonalds
mario man 25 lol I have 10 subs why I don’t put out content
Agreed
Wendy's > McDonalds > Burger King. I've never seen a Burger King with more than 1 car in the drive thru, wouldn't be surprised if they started closing locations.
In n out burger > Wendy's > mcdonald's > burger king foot lettuce
When I was younger I preferred them even though they were more expensive. Always associates the bacon burger with them :0
Where's the beef-that's one thing no women ever asked me.
Well, never been to a real Wendy's but was at a Wendy's First Kitchen at Minato, Tokyo.... It was bad enough never to go back again.
at the beginning you say "Wendy's has 6500 locations worldwide" Wendy's only has a fraction of that under their ownership. the rest aren't theirs at all. My store is not own operated or controlled by Wendy's. Our walk in freezer barely has enough room for the stuff we have on the menu. we cant fit breakfast stuff into it. its just more logistics.
well i live in Peterborough Ontario Canada and we have have 3 wendy's and i did worked at one i was a bus boy i would help out and keep they place clean it was a great job to do
The Kewpee Burger restaurant that Thomas got the idea for the square patties wasn’t in Michigan, it was in Ohio. Not saying there isn’t a Kewpee restaurant in Michigan.
Frostys are better to dip fries in than ketchup. Change my mind.
Wendy’s is easily the best fast food chain. Their always open late like 3-4am late everyday.
there no shitty time where u wake up early and want something other then breakfast cuz they sell burgers all the time.
Their frys are the best.
Double stack is fire 🔥.
Cheap ass Frostys.
Amazing chicken sandwiches.
Crazy good honey mustard sauce.
HitDaLick In The Bahamas we got breakfast, but if you want a burger you waiting until 11 fam.
Yannis Karageorgiou well you guys deserve to wait til 11 cuz u live in the fuckin bahamas
HitDaLick Unless you white over here(and I a not) it really ain't all too special.
Yannis Karageorgiou ya cuz only white people can benefit from nice weather all year long...
HitDaLick Hurricane season isn't nice bro, besides I emanmost of them here tend to be rich or foreigners so they may get special benefits from time to time.
This is more like the history of Wendy's, not the "untold truth"
Best fast food burger and chicken sandwich
Wendy's does have the best chicken sandwich but OMG are their fries naaaasty. I think the only thing McDonald's gets right is the fries and the breakfast.
