How to Catch a Magnalav - Cat Goes Fishing: 2022 Update

- If you do not move your boat or cast, the magnalav should eventually be visible beneath your boat. You may need to wait just past the coral basin as I did in the video, but I've heard that it might also make its way over to you even if you wait by the shore, although that would likely take a very long time.
Once you find it, you need to slowly make your way back to the shore, and cast without a sinking lure, using the flick upgrade to get deep enough.
I will be checking more thoroughly about spawn requirements later. I will update this and pin a comment when I do. - Hry

Just to add something : you don't need to be in the dragon area. You just need to go in the open ocean (up to the point where you see no floor on the radar). It'll take way less time to bring him back
You mean like the trench before the reef, or even before that?
Even before that! From the shore, go right until you see no floor on the radar, continue for maybe 4 seconds to be sure, stop and it'll come to your boat. It is possible that it's a bug, but he's been coming to me consistently at that spot.

I wanted to catch the cuddlecanth and set my date before the release date. I then drove out into the sea and when I reeled it in, I saw the Magnalav just right under my boat, but like much higher than in this video, and the weird thing is, I reeled in but he wasn't going away and was just slowly approaching my bait. I got a large bait and a mega hook and casted again, but a bullfish bit my line and moved, and only then was the magnalav swimming away. And the story gets weirder, as I tried to catch a powerfin I saw the magnalav just right of the silo stuck between the rocks just swimming in circles. He wouldn't bite my bait though but wasn't going away either, when I flicked down to him. thought it was an interesting encounter.

I don't know if you will respond before I catch it but it seems to run away any time I cast my rod, even if I don't move it whatsoever and cast it as far as I can?
Edit: I caught it, I needed to be slightly away from the shore and then move back and it didn't run off for some reason.

Holy crap. I haven't played the update yet, so I don't know if that's canon, but I think you might be onto something there...
Swoosher is also probably an ancestor to the swisher
How does your sonar still work without casting? Mine only works when the lure is in the water.
When you hold the sonar button on the bottom left, it brings it up
I cannot get this guy to actually bite. He seems to glitch out when he gets close and then just stops getting closer.
Just a quick question LoZ, what's the best loadout for the fishing rod, I can't seem to catch it or the dragon without luring it to the surface first.
Luring the dragon to the surface is just a good idea in general. If you can't get the magnalav, probably just swap some out for more of the strength upgrades
@@LegendOfZub Alright thanks! I'll try that, is the Magnalav a generally easy catch? First time I caught it I didn't even realize until it was too late and he hooked my line to the bottom of the rocks.
@@Smoxcos Very time consuming if you use the way I show, but not too bad a fight if I remember correctly

I've lured him 2 times to spawn, first time he ran away for no exact reason and the second time is when he snapped the line, also I got an idea for a video since you haven't been uploading lately.
