Beautiful Kirsten starter collection.
Isn’t it? I wish they brought them all back and their core stuff like school outfits, PJs, Holiday outfits, etc.
I hope this is a start of a new AG era.
I ended up ordering Kirsten and her birthday outfit. I’m super excited! Hoping and praying her eyes, face paint, and bangs are all straight.🤞
The $150 price tag was originally for the American girl doll and the hardcover book. If you bought the soft cover book version you paid I believe $120. At least that’s what I remember from what my grandfather told me in 1990 when he purchased, my first American girl doll, which was Samantha Parkington. Whom I still have to this day.
Accessories or identical to the anniversary doll. In addition to Samantha second generation, I have her as well. And when I heard the original replicas of the clothing were coming out, I purchased her birthday dress online.
@@daniellelanzetta7507 is $150 the price adjusted due to inflation? I have seen people claim the dolls would cost $170-180 in today money, no accessories, just a doll with her meet book.

I have multiple early catalogs. In 2001 the Kirsten doll and paperback Meet book were $84. Add the accessories for $20 for $104 without shipping 23 years ago.
In 2001, the dress was $22 and the shoes were $8. Add the paper book for $6 and the cost is $36 without shipping 23 years ago.
The current cost includes inflation and that the dolls and their outfits are now limited edition collectibles.
Finally understanding the Nursery rhyme "Lucy Locket lost her pocket". Guess it was tied on!! Thank you for showing us so quickly your trip to NYC. It really helped me place my order today. Very excited.
I wore a flower crown at my wedding. They were popular in the 1970's.

Thanks for showing fit on the pre-Mattel fuller body dolls. The nieces all have Pleasant dolls & it's frustrating when newer outfits don't work for them

My Kirsten is still in almost perfect condition, still has her hair in the looped braids from the Factory, plus I have all her books - so I'm on the fence about buying her again. Thanks for the in-depth review of her birthday dress! Mine hasn't arrived yet. I wish I could purchase directly from the store, but it's too far (Los Angeles, and I'm near San Francisco).

I also ended up getting everything for Julie including another Julie.
I purchased Addy’s birthday outfit even thought I have one, but I did like that it came with the boots.
However I don’t like it and it’s going back fast.
Terrible quality. Shirt does not compare to the older version one.
The cute little head cap has little ribbons instead of the little yellow feathers. Not impressed.
I ended up getting Josefina’s birthday outfit which is so beautiful.
I said I would not get another Kirsten but now I’m thinking about it because she’s so beautiful, and since I bought the birthday outfit I’m thinking I need another Kirsten. lol ❤

If you don’t have the anniversary Kirsten, I recommend getting this one, she is quite different from older Kirstens.

I think them having a star on their foot, is a way to make sure that they are AG dolls. Because, there's counter fit AG doll out there. I didn't mind the star on their foot 😁
I have never seen an AG counterfeit doll that didn’t look obviously fake.

Thank you for sharing all of the details! I love that the outfit comes with the boots. I've always loved those boots, but they're so expensive 2nd hand and the shoelaces break with age, so I've never bought them. If the new ones have polyester laces, I bet they burned the edges (probably cut them with a hot knife) to keep them from unraveling. That's what my kids do when they make paracord bracelets, as my husband has a hot knife. I think you're right about her eyes - they do look deeper and with a hint of green in them. I do hope that they bring out more books with matching outfits. They could definitely do school outfits and books in the fall too.

About the amber. This natural jewel can be found only on the shores of the Baltic sea, where Sweden is one of the countries situated around it. Nowadays, amber has become rare and expensive. Most likely it's a beautiful plastic replica.
Thanks for this thorough review. I'm waiting on the Birthday dress! Glad to hear it seems well made and not cheaply made. I'm fine with paying a little extra for the shoes and I'm glad they included them with this outfit but I think I agree that they could have sold them separately. I was planning on dressing my doll in the LSF for spring but now I think I'll dress her in this (or I'll get brave and redress my 35th Ann. Kirsten.) I don't have any PC dolls but I am pleased that it fits them!

Your newly adopted Girl of Today is number 7 (1995-2010). If you have her original Meet outfit it would be a guide that narrows down your doll’s year of release. My best guess without it would be before 2002.

Personally I prefer the original Beforever set which combined the 6 books into 2 and added a choose your own adventure book. The board games on the 6 book set box was also cute tho. The ones I got also came with a mini doll and a mini doll stand (I told them I stopped wanting it since the mini dolls were all vinyl and no longer mini versions of American Girl Dolls). Every year for my birthday and Christmas my grandparents would buy me the boxed set with the mini doll and I would read the books on the 1.5 hour ride back to the house. I was so sad when I got my Rebecca doll recently to find the book had been shortened. I guess I’ll just purchase that set separately since I love it.
I just want unabridged stories for all the characters. I like the illustrations, but I didn’t like it when they shortened the stories and cut some storylines out…

This review is so helpful. I have the original sewing pattern for the birthday outfit which I made 20 years ago. I have always wanted the original outfit, and now it comes with shoes. Wow and the book. And it fits the chubbier dolls. I hope to go to the store tomorrow, but they are calling for bad weather. So i will probably order it. I would love to have another Kirsten just so i can take down her hair. I have one question. Did they come out with a new catalog?
I haven’t seen a new catalog, they should release one, this is one fabulous release!
I think the catalogues come after the first of the month. Should be coming within the next week.

I'm going to order Kirsten probably tomorrow with the 2x rewards points. I haven't been able to find her used in good condition with her meet dress and accessories for a reasonable price (under $80 but that is still too high to me for a used doll). A couple of things: real amber is expensive so that is definitely plastic. They don't even make most human shoes and boots out of leather anymore. I try to buy shoe that are actual leather now and they are priced usually $80 - $150 or more. I did find a pair of dress flats that are leather for about $50 on sale but that was a few years ago. Making doll shoes out of leather is out of the question. Some people do make them and hand stitch them (check CZcams for videos) but I'm not sure how much they sell them for. And about the way the newer clothing fits: I've complained several time about that when I place an order (Berry member). I've told them that most of the new clothing doesn't fit the older PC dolls and collectors are complaining. Most notably in my purchases in the last few years the Harry Potter gray pants in the $55 set are too tight on the legs of the dolls. They fit like skinny jeans. Of the outfits I just bought and got yesterday Mary Ellen's Pretty Pink Dress I tried it on a TM #51 bought used but probably an early release (2009 - 2010). It is so tight I didn't think that I would be able to close it in the back. I have a Mary Ellen (used) again owned about 2009 - 2013 so I'll see if it fits her any better. I may have to return it. I also bought Melody's School Outfit - jumper - and that fits fine on the same doll. So it may be hit or miss and depend on who did the sewing. Big complaint of mine and has been for several years.

Yes and no. You know those non-iron shirts that you can wash in the washing machine, throw in the dryer, and they come out without any wrinkles? It kind of feels like that kind of fabric, there is definitely a synthetic part, but I am not sure what it’s called. The shirt from Addy’s birthday outfit will wrinkle, it’s pure cotton, but Kirsten’s birthday dress feels like it will be wrinkle-free. I don’t know how I feel about it, I do love natural fabrics, but I had to iron Kirsten’s original birthday outfit quite a few times, and the new one seems convenient. Maybe I am wrong, but that’s how the fabric felt to me.

That would be great news. I was told she is limited by the store manager, and AG wrote on their IG that these dolls and outfits are limited too. However… when Molly was re-releases, she and her collection were announced as limited release, which was later changed and Molly stayed. I would love for Kirsten to stay , she is too iconic 💖
