Thank you so much for watching!
The Steelers start off slow in a November afternoon in 1977 & finish hot after Franco Harris takes charge and helps seal a W against out of conference rival Dallas Cowboys!

Franco was truly one of the great running backs of his generation. RIP Franco.
Franco Harris is dead I didn't know that. He was great. He came up big in the big I could remember as a kid. One of the greatest running back ever
Damn that burst of speed on that 60 plus yard TD run was AWESOME.
Funny story - Super Bowl was in Tampa in early '90s. Wife worked at hotel bar at Disney. Bunch of NFL players stayed there, including Franco and I think John Stallworth. Anyway, wifey asks Franco for his autograph, and when she gets it back, she says to herself, oh, Franco Harris, not Frank O'Harris. I laughed so hard. A good Irish lad from Penn State led the Steelers to the Super Bowl.
😂😂👍
She got railed by Franco that night
Hilarious
Much of this is also a Mike Webster highlight. Look how fast he pulls. And several plays, including the goal line TD, he brings the fight to Randy White. RIP Webby...
Brian you damn right! I didn’t notice until you pointed it out
It sure helped he was all juiced up too. Mean Joe, Dwight White, Ernie Holmes and L.C. Greenwood use to joke how they abused Webster in training camp and then the following camp, it stopped. Not just Webster, but Kolb and co had "improved". 💉💪52💪💉
@@JeepTJWheelin Like no one else was huh?

The Franco run at 2:30 was pretty unimpressive, a smaller quicker back would have cut that back much sooner for a huge gain. Webster's effort was wasted on that one.
RIP Franco -- At 00:58 it looks like Hollywood was running in Quick-Sand when Franco had that long touchdown run -- I remember watching this game.
Rocky blocking like a beast. 👊
#20 was why I always liked fullbacks as a kid. I liked Franco, but I LOVED Bleier.
Franco is the reason I’m a Steelers fan…RIP#32
Classic Pittsburgh offense of the mid 70’s - Franco hitting the holes created by superb text book blocking by the line and Bleir and blocking up field by the receivers. A thing of beauty!
HAT TIP......
Everybody gansta till a fullback gets almost 200 yards
It’s great to know God watches my videos. 🙏🏼
Itz Yinzburgh yup
Basically a HB
Wow, I was 11 years old at the time, and my COUSIN, Larry Brown (number 79), was playing Right Tackle for the Steelers.
So much for that vaunted Dallas "flex defense!" I watched this and loved every minute of it! Thanks for sharing this.
I'm glad it happened against the Dallas Cowgirls🤣👍
Great burst and speed for a big guy...
BRAVO... Mr. HARRIS... Thanks for showing what excellence was,,,,
People kinda forget that the knock on Franco while has was playing was that he would try to avoid contact, and ran out of bounds too much (Jim Brown was definitely a critic and was almost ready to come back and play for the Raiders at age 48 when it looked like Franco was about to break his record). He definitely wasn’t avoiding contact in this game, though, and that run right up the middle for the touchdown was exactly like his 22 yard TD run against the Cowboys in the Super Bowl the following season, except longer. Great stuff.
Give credit to Bradshaw for the play calls too!
It's amazing teams did that back then. Nowadays, they pay $5 million/year or whatever for a "genius" OC to call all the plays.
I've always liked two types of running backs. The big bruisers like Earl Campbell, Larry Csonka and Mike Alstott. And the long striders like Franco Harris, Eric Dickerson and Roger Craig.
Just love watching Rocky block and Franco running right through the Cowboys!! I remember this game as a kid. Ah the 70s , a great time for a kid to grow up in.
Wow!! Franco had sneaky speed! Blew past the entire Cowboy defense for 61! He stopped and hit the whole like a bat outta hell.
RIP Franco! Thanks for all the great memories!
Love the old videos reminds me of my childhood growing up in Oklahoma and watching the STEELERS!! Thanks for the memories keep on keeping on! HERE WE GO STEELERS!!!!✌
I remember watching that game live when I was a boy. It was a good day.
The horse and pony show at its best ... Franco/Rocky ... What a front line, one of the greatest in Steelers history. Great Vid.
What a classic, memorable day by Franco. Especially against that vaunted Cowboy defense that would go on to win the Super Bowl later that season. But that's alright.
We'd beat those boys again the the next season, for our 3rd ring.
the greatest offensive line as well...Noll really did a great job on that line too....mullins, Mansfield, Webster, kolb, Davis never get enough credit...it's no wonder the qb, the rb, the center, and 2 wide receivers from that team are in the hall of fame....larry brown too...te to ol....brown should be in hall of fame too
As a 10 year-old I remember tuning in to watch this game. However, it was after Franco had his long TD run. I never saw the run or a replay until a condensed version of this game showed up on CZcams 40 years later. Thanks for sharing these videos! There was a Browns/Steelers game from 1979 that featured a few long runs by Franco and Rocky. Would love to see highlights from that one.
I'll never forget going in to the bathroom at the Bellefonte Elks Lodge and running in to Joe Paterno and Franco Harris. As a young kid it was amazing and a little intimidating lol.
FANtastic tribute 👏 bruh!! 🏟🖤💛😉
Sure LOVE ❤ these old clips. Keep em coming. PLEASE 🙏 👍👍
Bottom line, Franco was a beast. 💪
RIP #32 🕊️
He was the best postseason running back to the play the game
Franco Super Man!
Man Mike Webster was a stud
RIP Franco.
Go Franco Go !
I miss the days of two RBs...
What a legend..
R.I.P. FRANCO HARRIS
Great player! If you watch closely looks like he is playing with a bad hip, or groin issue
Unfortunately, these replays will be the only NFL that I will ever watch again. I guess I have been lucky enough to have been alive to watch all Super Bowl wins by my beloved Steelers. The day they left Valenueva stand by himself to honor America spelled the end for me. I just can't bring myself to watch anymore. I have a bunch or memorabilia to sell. Is anyone interested?
I stopped watching after the tuck rule bs. It was always rigged to some degree but it became blatantly obvious that night in Foxboro. F the nfl!
Don't follow a hypocrite!
Unfortunately for you, that is. I couldn't care less, except to wonder why you and others of your mindset can't refrain from announcing your myopic attitude to the world, FIVE YEARS AFTER THE FACT. Get on with your life and quit crying about someone else's rightful lack of reverence for a God-damned piece of cloth!
Look how lean and in shape the offensive lineman were they all look like tight ends
I wanna know who actually hit the dislike button! Smh. Great Video!
Thank you! (there’s a few who subscribe to me just for the opportunity to dislike my new videos lol)
There goes Hip Pads again....every Sunday afternoon

RIP
PITTSBURGH Y'ALL IN HERE 👊 WHERE YA AT!
Steelers beat Dallas in 1975 (SB 10), 1977, 1978 (SB 13) and 1979
They had the Cowboys’ number in that period.
Ironically, Franco lost a fumble on the carry before that 61 yard TD burst. They pissed him off.
Dallas always was a glutton for punishment, they never learn...
Here we go Steelers, here we go!
1977 was the year they lost the first 4 games of the season. They had a great run of wins after that.
I remember this game from the time--I would have been about to turn 14 years old--but for some reason I would have sworn it was 1978 rather than '77.
Your memory being a year off from a
game almost 43 years ago is pretty dang good!
@@ItzYinzburgh Yeah, but I can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday, so....
I think of running backs who tried to run like he did on turf and destroy their knees. Amazing.
The weakness on the Dallas defense was the slow safeties. Swann and Stallworth smoked them deep and neither Harris or Waters could run down Franco who really was no speed demon
It was more the corners Washington and Barnes than it was the safety's. Swann and Stallworth were just too fast for them (Mel Renfro actually did a great job on Stallworth in SB X). Cowboys shut down Franco in both Super Bowls. Franco's TD in SB XIII happened because a ref "threw a block" on Waters. The refs screwed Dallas on that entire drive. But that's football. Pittsburgh was top to bottom the better of the two. Not by much though.
Franco always softened up the Cowboys secondary early in the game with his runs up the middle making Waters and the rest have to take a big shot and often , in this game we see the true Franco busting into the Cowboys secondary full speed taking no prisoners i bet they were bruised from head to toe as well as there ego's after this game . Go Franco Go !
I was 2 years old.
Damn! Webster just got a danm good block. One of hundreds over his career.
Hip pads
No doubt Franco is a HOF back. The O-line was HOF caliber, Rocky Bleier was an A+ blocker, as was all the receivers. It's called TEAM.
Franco put the fear of God in the Cowboys. 'nuff said.
At 1:45 you see that famed inside trap play. The Raiders drafted Matt Millen and put him at middle linebacker just to stop this one play.
The Raiders played the 3-4 defense then, so it wasn't Millen's job alone to stop the trap, nor was he a traditional middle linebacker. In fact, I believe he was a converted defensive lineman. The real key up front was nose tackle Reggie Kinlaw, who frustrated the Eagles and disrupted the Redskins in two Super Bowls.
The only game v Dallas where they didn’t stop Franco. He is so underrated. People forget when he retired only Jim brown had more yards.
Franco ran for 102 yds. when Dallas visited Pittsburgh in 79.
And OJ,I think
@@mcdonoghrahloh459 Franco has more yards then OJ.
@@killalltogepis9916 Ok.Thanx for the reply!
That depends on what you mean by "stop". He was in 4 games against Dallas. In his first game, he was a rookie; he only ran 3 times for 16 yards. Then he had this 179 yard game and two other games where he averaged over 100 yards. (I don't know about preseason, but there are other things to worry about in preseason games.)
Poor #43 for Dallas was having a bad day.
Does anyone want to send this tape in to Matt Canada? Maybe he can learn some new plays instead of watching the local high-school.
I think the Steelers went about 25 years without losing to cryboys.
LoL 😂 LMAO the announcer, He's not a Tony Dorsett!!!? No 😯😂 LMAO He's not 🚫!!!! He has 4 Superbowls in 6 YEARS!!!!!! Big difference 😂 LMAO!!!!!!!!!
Weird to see all the Steelers fans not wearing black and gold back then.
Just curious to see what others think. Who is better franco in his prime or the bus in his prime?
Gotta go Bus.
Different eras and different teams. Bettis didn't have a Rocky Blier in the backfield with him (and Rocky himself was a damn good running back), so maybe Bus gets the nod. On the other hand, Harris MADE the Steelers--before him they had been nothings for 40 years--and the biggest travesty I can think of is that Franco finished his career as a Seattle Seahawk.
Apples and oranges dude.
@@robertsherman871 who do you want on your team in todays nfl? Obviously both are better than what the Steelers currently have
The bus is really underrated. He tore his groin in 2001 against the Vikings and was never the same. His legacy is severely damaged By the years he played after that. He should be considered in the highest evhelon with Jim brown Eric Dickerson etc..
Notice when Franco scores he acts like he’s been there before.
Great player , but you know he trapped that ball
Nothing on film validates he did .
He has a large family. His son I believe is a politician.
Number of time Roger Staubach beat the Steelers in his career, same average as Blutarsky in Animal House: 0.0 !
Pittsburgh Steelers was just two good I hated them😂. I'm just keeping it real
Americas team my azz
Denver helped Dallas out:Denver knocked the Steelers out of the playoffs in 77.
Are Franco and Cliff Harris related?
