  • [Filmed December 12, 2019] The WCH Type 2 E-Bell on the Union Pacific's gateless signal to the left is malfunctioning again after it was damaged in a storm a few weeks ago. Its slowly ringing with only its start up every 5 seconds. WCH E-Bells ring rates due change dye to temperature but this is not doing that. the Circuit board on this one is damaged and can't ring properly. A WCH E-Bell had the same problem at the 21st St & Freeport Blvd crossing and it was replaced.

Nice video! I wonder if the humidity is affecting the bell?

Thanks! Possibly. The ring rate since the time before I filmed this video its been slowly dropping until it started back ringing with its startup only like now.

Great video! Maybe in the future we'll have electronic bells that are more resistant to weather.

Thanks! They are but its just that this one is old. Water and age is causing it to die.
