    Excellent painting tutorial and basing. It has inspired me to produce something similar for use with the Altar of Freedom rules, where a 60mm frontage base represents a brigade. However it should be noted that the main butternut wearing period for Confederates was 1862 into early 1863 when the first uniforms were worn out and Confederate uniform production and imports had not been fully embedded. Apparently the ANV was its worst dressed at Antietam 1862.

      Thanks for the uniform info. I’ll mention it when I do the brigade showcase

    I am not even into american civil war , but damn those figures look so good, love the variety of colors on figures and the historical background.

    Yeah cool.
    I pretty much do the same thing using light blue, brown, uniform grey, dark grey for clothing. Black, brown and grey hats. Red, blue, grey blanket rolls. Black straps.
    I then use strong tone wash, matt varnish. No highlights due to the scale.

    I slap on contrast/xpress colors and highlight from there so I save some extra time (also doing highlights on front rank and rear of the back one) but at a cost of the look. Your minis look fantastic. Also, I like the basing but It kind of look like it brings it back to a 28mm scale basing I usually use which is 60x40mm. Thanks for a list of colours used.

    • @leont66wargaming31
      @leont66wargaming31  Před rokem

      Yep contrasts are a way to go as well. I don’t own many of them though lol.
      The width of the bases is the same as 28mm however I only use 3 bases for a regiment so the frontage is a lot less.

    Great paintjob! Great to see a lot of youtubers cover the Epic Range!
    Not really saving hours on your paintjob though as it is a pretty standard (yet great looking) formula of basecoats, washes and highlights. But a bit of clickbait is never a bad thing to get people exposed to your quality content!

      Thanks Buddy.
      I admit I did go for a bit of a click bait thumbnail. Not something I normally do, however these tutorials take quite a lot of time to do and I haven’t been getting many views on them, so I thought “in for a penny “ and all that lol. I’d give it a try and see if it made any difference.

      @@leont66wargaming31 absolutely relatable and your content definitely reflects the hard work you put into it! Trying to get noticed by a bigger crowd is always a good thing not only for motivation but also support-wise. Have you considered trying colabs with other youtubers? 7th Son or miniature realms would come to mind as a perfect fit there

      That’s a good idea. I don’t know if you remember back in the old white dwarf magazine they’d do a tale of 4 gamers where they each build an army over the course of a few weeks. Might see if they’re interested in doing something like that. I talk to Martin quite often on messenger and also Stuart via email

    Great job Leon. In fact I still have a load of 28mm Perry's metal figures from my ACW project of 5 years ago, so you have inspired me to do a bit lol. I must try to get a video out. I have so many projects on the go, I should make the effort to show people. I cleared my table of my 1914 project the other day. My Sudan guys still occupy the sandy beach lol. Cheers Leon, Matthew👍

      @@leont66wargaming31 lol yep, you are a perfectionist Leon, very dangerous thing to be in our hobby😀. They look brilliant ,great job as usual and as ever you are the king of bases👍. My bases consist of glue, pollyfiller, paint, homemade sawdust from cutting up firewood, and if i can be bothered, a bit of old lichen and coarse paint brush bristles. You see, where as you are a perfectionist, i'm most certainly a cowboy🔫 😂. Cheers!
