Protests continued in Hong Kong through the afternoon and into the evening of November 14, 2019. The fifth day of intense demonstrations again centred on several university campuses and business districts around the city. Student protesters fortified barricades and extended roadblocks, and fans watching Hong Kong’s international football team compete in a World Cup qualifying match booed the Chinese national anthem and sang Glory to Hong Kong.

That guy was right, people do have the right to do an assembly.
But then comes the question, why does the police all over the world need advance notice for any large assembly?
Not that hard to answer, because uncheck freedom will interfere with others freedom and create conflict, that's why the authorities need that permission issued.
Seeing how these "assembly" is severely going out of control, these people should probably think before exercising their rights.

For China, it's about geostrategy, not about Hong Kong itself, rights, protesters, etc. pp. 30 years ago, China was still economically dependent on Hong Kong, now geostrategical considerations are more important.
