This video makes a good point - that these divisions between schools of thoughts can be as misleading as they are arbitrary. The origin of the divide is with the rise of Analytical Philosophy in the UK (even though a key figure is Frege, who was German). They contrasted themselves from Idealism and gave themselves the label "Analytical", while refering to the rest, in what may be seen as classical British chauvinism, as "continental". But it is important to state that while two schools might be contrasted, they still might have a lot in common. And yet, there is a difference between Analytical and Continental Philosophies. It shouldn't be viewed as a clear demarcation like a political border between two rival states. As if it is A against B, with A little to no overlap with B. But the difference shouldn't be viewed as a purely constructed idea, created solely for convenience. There is a difference, but it is a statistical difference. As in Analytical Philosophers TEND more towards logic and formal arguments, while Continental Philosophers TEND more towards existentialism, symbolism and idealism. The difference is in intellecual inclinations rather than in overall character of thought. I believe Human Beings always have more in common cognitively than in contrast, as long as we reference our thinking to any non human intelligence. I believe it is better to treat Human thought that way, than to try to strictly confine different people inside arbitrary, labelled capsules of thoughts. With all that said, I believe my comment can be understood as very Analytical, and that it might support the notion of a divide between the two intellectual movements/frameworks 😂
how would a continental approach go about it? in this approach they try to show a dichotomy between them. while also diving into historicity and giving historical examples in a fashion similar to continental.
That is why analytic philosophy is not philosophy but a method or tool to clarify the thing . The real philosophy happens with content which Continental Philosophers provide . Continental philosophers did not shy away from asking the questions of any sort subject the human urgency and limits ..
Analytic philosophy is non-fiction writing using logic, clear writing and evidence based reasoning. Continental philosophy is fiction writing using personal impressions, figurative writing and ideology.

Rare 10/10 YT comment
That's funny how this video is clearly taking a analytical approach to explore that question. XD

this video is great
That's a great philosophical video
Well analytic philosophy heavily relies on arguing through formalization
Analytical philosophy is about justifying what you say.
Continental philosophy is about saying what you justify.
💖
Analytic = How everything works
Continental = How everything is perceived by human beings
Can be stated like this ?
Analytic philosophy is non-fiction writing using logic, clear writing and evidence based reasoning. Continental philosophy is fiction writing using personal impressions, figurative writing and ideology.
CLEAR?? LOLLLL
