I was a fan of the podcast from the beginning and a fan of the show (for the most part) as well. But lately the show is feeling more and more stale. I don't blame D&M at all. Viceland over-produced their show and diluted their respective comedic identities. These guys have always been fucking hilarious and I think they've been doing excellent jobs and deserve their next opportunity.
I think D&M on Viceland got stale because they (VL) ran far too many episodes. Mon-Thurs was simply too much for them to keep things fresh and true to their humor. When the show started it was very similar to the podcasts (although greatly condensed) and gave hilarious takes on real issues that always had elements of truth and importance imbedded with pop culture sprinkled in.
Unfortunately, due to the over-use of their talents I think the "show" essentially became 15 min of predictable and repetitive "youtube reactions" with an occasionally insightful interview thrown in. Viceland basically took the comedic voices of Desus and Mero and road them until the wheels were just about to fall off.
Fortunately, the boys are no fools. I think they recognized that their content was being diluted due to the sheer volume. Good for them for signing their new deal, and I hope they have full autonomy and aren't again forced to over-produce.
I aint read all that but yeah I agree. Content got diluted..I just hope showtime makes the show easily accessible like viceland did with youtube
Stephen A Hill I believe their show on showtime will only air once a week. So it'll be just like the podcast, and desus vs mero on complex. That'll really be joyful.
