    Brilliant. I've been reverse-searing steaks for years now and love it. But I never thought about using my air-fryer. They're amazingly useful kitchen appliances.

    I like that I can "fry" something on a whim! An oil fryer takes so much more time to clean and prepare czcams.com/users/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB a chore which usually kept me from frying all together. Also, the lack of needing oil to fry means that my family and I are eating healthier... while still enjoying the crispiness of fried foods.

    I just pan-fried some steak last night using Kenji Lopez-Alt's method.
    Kenji (who also popularized the reverse sear method, though you already knew that) encourages people to use thick (1.5"-2") steaks for the reverse-sear; have you ever tried them? He definitely recommends it for bigger groups, as well, because multiple people can share one steak in that case.
    One last thing I heavily recommend (and I'd love to see you try) is the basting technique, where you take that delicious fat you're searing it in, tip the pan a bit, and then spoon the hot fat up onto the top of the steak. It evens out that crust and actually reduces the time it takes to crust up.
    I love your willingness to try new things and show people your results. Please keep up the good work.

    Aluminum foil blocks the air flow in your machine and aluminum foil breaks down at a high heat and chemicals into your food I use to do the same thing. SCIENCE ROCKS

    • @oceandfs2412
      @oceandfs2412 Před rokem +1

      Science does rock. So does knowing what you're talking about though. Kept under 400F, It's incredibly unlikely that you'll consume toxic amounts of aluminum just by cooking with foil.

    • @carlostovar5713
      @carlostovar5713 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yeah this can occur around the range of 400 or when you cook with acidic foods not to mention the thickness of the foil. Jabroni maybe you should check yourself before you wreck yourself

      Seeing as no one answered your question in two months. The buttons on this model of airfryer are just preset time and temps. They has no effect on the fan inside or the heating element or anything thats different from the other buttons. It's just means you have to turn the dial less to set your time and temp.
      For example, pressing air fry and setting the temp to 200f and 16 min is the same as pressing any other button on the machine and setting the temp to 200f and time to 16 min. Hope this helps.

    • @imapcjunkie
      @imapcjunkie Před 4 měsíci

      Just got one of these. As previous time temps are ‘remembered’ from last use, I just think of these as shortcuts. So intuitive. Loving my instant :-)

  • @trich3716

    It defeated the purpose of a reverse sear (being that it cooks evenly to desired temp throughout). No grey parts if mid rare/rare.

    Ugh, pretty bad gradient on that steak. Only less than half of it is actually medium rare (more like medium). The rest is grey and overcooked. Reverse searing is for thick steaks only, you could have cooked that piece of meat directly on the pan with a much better result.
