A little bit of design brilliance of Nichijou. So usually if you have a character design, their clothes is basically a part of it. What cool in Nichijou is that since 90% of their skits take place before/during/after school, having the same uniform on them actually makes sense. But what I think is even cooler is that in scenes like that wallet skit, they actually give them different clothes, so it actually feels like they have their own wardrobes and feel more alive and realistic that way!
I talked about it a little when talking about character designs in my year end award videos, but I always appreciate when you give more individuality to the characters by having them wear something besides a uniform. Its more effort from thinking of an outfit to wear then the colors and even changes in hairstyles. I appreciate that so much more than a typical battle shounen where they are given a uniform early on then thats all we get from them.
