Grasso lit her up on the feet which I didn't expect at all. It's weird hearing Valentina say she was winning everywhere when she clearly started grappling because of Grasso's standup
Valentina was winning the fight for sure, and if the fight entered the 5th round, Grass would've needed a finish. It's all moot though, because Grasso got the choke. It'll be good to see the rematch though, and what adjustments each fighter makes.
@@puntsize if grasso won the first and was winning the 4th, how would she be losing going into the 5th. 🤔 you make no sense buddy. It would off been tied going into the 5th if grasso didn’t choke her out.
You've gotta rematch the fight. Valentina was picking her off with her jab
Not true
@@kinotroikgames2818 why? Valentina headbutted the last fight when she was losing then refused a rematch
Valentina is following in the footsteps of Joanna when it comes to her attitude after losing the title. We've seen this before with Rose and Alexa has enough confidence to do it again.
Facts. Bad attitude to have when you get humbled. Amanda handled it well, and came back for the title as if she never lost it.
Shes always been arrogant, people just finally waking up
Damn I thought valentina would give alexa credit at least once
@@jamespaul6315
Probably a language barrier as well but ok
she will get it back. like amanda did
As a huge Shevchenko fan, I’m scared of her attitude rn, she isn’t taking this seriously, she got pieced up on the feet too. She needs to recognize that this is a valid loss no excuse will overwrite it. Please take this seriously, that you lost and you need to be ready for this rematch. I don’t like your attitude rn, and you are thinking she is not a threat. Be smart about this, if NUNES can do it, you can too, but don’t underestimate, be humble in defeat
By Grasso's BOXING, specifically. Val's kicks and grappling stemmed it for a while , giving her Rounds 2 and 3, but Grasso was level changing by the end of 4, rendering the grappling as less of a plan.....and then Val threw that kick that was slow, and close, and that sealed her defeat
Excactly
She has, sadly, always been a minor whiner and complainer… making excuses for everything she does incorrectly. It’s just that we don’t get to see it that often… we just see that presumptive arrogance, the air of superiority she always has. No doubt, this is part of what makes her a winning champion… that Sean O’Malleyesque “I am 17-0 and Chito didn’t actually win because REASONS!” type of pomposity that certain “I am Superior” people have in themselves. I not judging her, if it seems hat way… just making an observation I feel I noticed following the second Amanda fight, where she did an epic whine in the post-fight. I love watching her- great martial artist. But as personalities go… I prefer her sister lol 😂
What are you talking about. She was up on all rounds
Im sure she will read your message and care deeply 😂 😂😂
This fight showed us one important thing : Valentina can't handle being hit cleanly. She was so distressed from Grasso's clean connects to her face that she started spamming takedowns and even tried the hail mary spinning back kick, all just to avoid being hit in the face. That lead her to making mistakes and giving Grasso the opening to take her back.
Honestly, her fights with Amanda and Joanna showed that; JJ was coming on strong as hell, in the final round of her fight with Val, she was actually starting to walk her down...and prior to that, earlier in the fight, Joanna landed a clean front kick to Valentina's face that not only rattled her, it PISSED Val off. Got her in her FEELINGS...😬👀
@@omarihoward8168 Valentina won every round against Joanna. It was Valentina that landed the front kick on Joanna, not vice versa 😂
I don't remember the exact round, but I do recall Joanna starting to outpoint Valentina on the feet so Valentina had to start wrestling. Valentina's striking is pretty overrated. People think she's some muay thai or kickboxing godess but she's not. She'd have a lot more finishes and would use her wrestling a lot less, especially against some of the girls she's fought, if that was the case
@@TheMendo123 that’s because she relys on counters. She doesn’t really put a lot of power in her shots. They prob hurt but don’t really stun her opponents. Until they’ve taken like 60 plus. But her legs have knockout power but it’s also difficult to land a headkick ko
I love Valentina and will always respect what she has accomplished in MMA, but Alexa beat her. Alexa capitalized on a mistake and nearly tore her lower jaw off. Valentina should be humble and pay Alexa her due respect, at the very least.
True. We all watched it. Grasso is the rightful winner of that fight. SHE brought the pressure; Shev was playing defense mostly. It still probably would've bought her a ( narrow ) split win, but that kick ended things right then and there. If she can't come at Grasso during the ( still-hasn't-been-declared ) rematch with both barrels, then Grasso has a strong chance of winning again.
@@Chino56751 Exactly, that spinning kick screwed Valentina up and Alexa capitalized. I wonder when the next rematch is, probably in a year or so heh...
@DatingMatis156 Alexa lost Rounds 2 and 3
she is never humble and never gives her opponents any respect, I hope she gets knock out in the rematch.

Damn crazy how many years of dominance can make you somewhat delusional but I bet it’s a huge mental challenge to accept that after many wins you lost, Grasso turned her into a wrestler that night
She thought she was unbeatable and after the loss she cannot accept defeat. Its funny how peoples true colours come out when they aren't winning!!
She wasn't dominant in the Santos fight either, so she shouldn't be this delusional.
This is a bit disappointing to hear. If you're not being entirely realistic with the loss you won't learn from all of your mistakes.
Wow. She can’t admit there was a formidable challenger in front of her that got the best of her.

Annnd dished out some passive aggressive insults to the champ😂. I really wish she would go full heel, the smiley act seems super fake at this point.
Was thinking the same thing. Feel like we all got played by her goodie two shoes persona over the years. This loss has shown us her true colours!!
Or she is simply frustrated af so she handles it in a way that she trashes everything around her?
Crazy how people turn on someone once they lose.
Usman laughed about his KO and people literally said how great he is handlimg it. Pretty much before pre fight press conference he wasnt dismissive about the ko(and even on press you can probably take it as trash talk).
And he lost.
Who would have thought that this "attitude" means nothing?
Amanda literally only said how she was gassed, covid, this or that, gave 0 props to pena and she beat her in rematch.

I don’t see Valentina hiding anything. She’s been the same the whole time. She’s a truly great martial artist, but she’s always been a bit delusional when it comes to her abilities and her opponents. This isn’t a new attitude, or one she’s even tried to hide.

She's always been like this. It's pathetic
Go back and watch the fight. Valentina held Alexa down for 2 minutes. She did not throw a strike until a minute has passed. She threw 4 strikes total. Count how many actually land. Not even counting the "accidental" one at the end.
spot on, she is so delusional.
valentina had over 5 minutes of control time... Alexa's win is 100% legit and well-deserved ( i made a lot of money on that fight), but lets not pretend she was owning her or even winning. valentina was very much so winning the fight until the submission
@@flipf615 except it was about to be 2-2 going into the 5th and Val was gassed
@flip f does control really mean all that much when you do nothing with it and your opponent is the one throwing shots from the bottom?? Idk to me all you did was find a position to try to recover if you're not working on the ground. I agree with what masvidal said, mma rules have a slight edge for the grappler. Ridiculous that while you get the take down and do nothing you still win.
@@alansteel nah.. I always recommend to people to do what I do. Which is to follow live odds on betting sites. They'll give you most objective and unbiased perspective. Just before submission they gave Grasso almost no chance to win on points. Giving one fighter no chance before last round and after last round that said fighter wins on points.
C’mon Valentina, Alexa turned your face a whiter shade of pale with that squeeze. Alexa Grasso is more humble in her victory than Valentina is in her loss.
Definition of humility is to have the vision of reality . Unfortenatly, Valentina is far from that . What is also alarming that not even her coach , neither her sister are not able to be honest with her . Ego is the biggest enemy of the warrior .

Grasso and Moreno truly exemplify the reasons why I love this sport. Not saying Dominance isn’t fun to watch and satisfying, but it is arguably way more satisfying watching dominance crumble.

Jason Herzog is literally the best ref in the game. He stood her up when was holding on and resting/stalling cos she was tired like she just admitted. Delusional to think she was winning everywhere. I’m just so against the referees getting involved in situations like that. If the opponent doesn’t want to be in that position, get up. If you’re being dominated on the ground regardless if damage is being inflicted it’s control it’s dominance. You can say it’s stalling but go ahead and try and not just get a takedown on an elite fighter but keep them down. It’s not easy. We love you, Val, but you need to face the truth: That kick was a mistake, and Grasso had the strength, speed, and wits to expertly capitalize on it. Plus, you didn't pressure her nearly as much with your boxing as she did, especially during Round 1.
Herzog isn't to blame. If you don't bring the heat for real during the rematch, Grasso has a strong chance of winning again

Valentina has passed her prime now. 5 years ago she looked unbeatable, not now.
How can she say it was one sided....Alexa was LIGHTING her up on the stand-up which made her start shooting for takedowns, Alexa showed no fear and took it to her which she's not use too since the Amanda fights, weve seen the changing of the Guard now as i believe Alexa has her Number...(This reminds me of Joanna/Rose) when Joanna too the loss bad etc Rose had the blueprint to beat her. Sorry val, but you where getting hit hard by Alexa, it is what it is; I hate watching fighters say this, admit the issues and fix them and we will have a fight. Sure val had her moments, but Alexa hit her hard many times.
You all said Nunes was making excuses about loosing to Pena and didn’t have the right mind set going back into the rematch and swore it was the “pena era”. Then Nunes went and got the belt right back.
One fight doesn’t determine who is the better fighter in the slightest.
But Nunes gave Julianna credit. Valentina is in complete denial
@@mikep5611 she congratulated her in the post fight interview. How many times she need to give her her flowers?
Either way, who cares. It’s the fight game, let them say what they want. All that doesn’t matter once they’re in the cage. You guys get so caught up in words
Nunes was just off in that first fight. She was gassed in R1 & we know she can easily go 5 rounds. Valentina had a competitive fight until it ended.
"In the slightest"...you sure about that? I can definitively say that we can get SOME idea of who the superior fighter is based on one fight. How many times do people have to fight until you can get a "slight" idea of who's better? After Nunes' loss, everyone except for the few hard-core Pena fans was saying it was a fluke. It was a major mismatch going in and something clearly went wrong the the leadup for Nunes. The rematch only confirmed what everyone KNEW should have happened in the first fight. Valentina fought like she always does vs Grasso. She didn't look especially slow or depleted or out of shape or any of that. She was simply bested by Grasso. I've always been a huge Shevchenko fan but she's always fought too safe and technical. The only thing Schevchenko will do in a rematch is fight MORE safe and throw less spinning attacks. She's not going to change up her style or adapt in the way that Grasso continuously does. Valentina has fought the same way her whole career and always comes in-shape.
@@turtlepowersf and Grosso will lose next fight and prove she was a fluke just like Pena
I've always loved Valentina, her style, her attitude, her ruthlessness, she was great for women's MMA and has really set a high bar which has pushed the others to be better fighters.
That whole flyweight division was in the gym training to be Shevchenko beaters, however, she has to give Alexa the props here, her stand-up was stunning and her game-plan was on point.
Maybe Chaely P was right, Valentina is a heel and should embrace that character...
I do believe Valentina is good enough to make the adjustments and beat Alexa...it's just whether her ego let's her admit she needs to make the adjustments...
What is "a heel"?..
@@songbird9444 in Valentina's case, she is someone who pretends to be the "nice girl" but in reality she is a bad girl. In professional wrestling, a heel is someone who takes on an "antagonist" type of role.
valentina sounds like a robot 😂
She has a point that standup was bs. Val worked hard to get to that position
It's that Eastern Bloc attitude of not being able to admit defeat 😂
She's a great fighter, but have some humility and give credit where it is due.
Crazy how different her and Amanda’s attitude are after a loss. Both the goats, but one is graceful and then there’s Valentina
Where was Amanda greceful, she kept making excuses after she lost not defending Valentina but both are not perfect.
@@specialedition5591 just look at her post interview from UFC 269 and compare it to Valentina’s after ufc 285 lol
@@Surggeeo They were both graceful in defeat and made excuses after their losses.
Ariel doesn't ask the tough questions anymore. Just like how he had Jeff Molina on and all they talked about was him loving the sausage and never once brought up his suspension from the cheating scandal. Ariels losing it
He started to understand that people don't comeback to the show after getting destroyed in the interview and without guests the show will not be the same
I agree. I get trying to keep the relationships you have with the people you interview intact but I was disappointed he didn't challenge Valentina AT ALL and at least mention what happened in the 1st round Valentina getting boxed up.
At the end of the day, Valentina is also a woman who hates another woman out of pure jealousy. So it's nothing surprising here 😂😂
Valentina doesn't fight with a game plan ...Grasso's coaches put together a great game plan. Valentina ...I think has lost her greatest asset. speed .that said Valentina will win the return
when you are a champion. everyone is trying to create a plan to destroy you... and as long as shes been on top.. theres plenty of video to learn from.
This. I'm so glad someone else said it. Alexa's win was impressive but she PLANNED for that specific takedown hoping it would present itself and it did. I believe the mark of a true champion is being able to beat anyone without having to gameplan. The way Valentina switched up her tactics and went to wrestling when she realized Alexa posed a threat on the feet is honestly more impressive to me than Alexa's almost choreographed win. Alexa had great hands but I think Valentina is still the better fighter overall.
I hope she keeps this attitude that she was dominating, only sort of made a mistake, and got cheated out of the fight. Alexa will eat her up.
It’s easy to be humble when you win, it’s when you lose that you show your true character, and boy o boy. Valentina’s arrogance is on full display. The delusion is out of this world.
That Joanna mindset lol
Nah Joanna got deformed
@@Gsk9784 Joanna crapped on Rose and got handled. Valentina began talking more smack than her usual self, then Karma restored balance. The rematch will be interesting
@@Gsk9784 it's almost like this was the first time valentina has lost in the last 6 years lol Joanna has done a lot more losing in that time and has had time to be humbled. Joanna was everything but humble in that rose fight
"Bown down....bown down....I am the boogywoman!!"
@@Gsk9784 Rose humbled her when she called herself the Boogeywoman.... How long you been watching?
If she thinks she was dominating all 4 rounds she will lose the rematch going in with that mindset
Kamaru affect
@@eddievargas704 The difference is Kamaru did dominate the majority rounds in the 2nd fight
She’s great after a win. Totally diff after a loss. And had survived it would have been dead
Even on the cards. No rematch needed. I think they need to fix the clause. Put certain stipulations in there like being finished can’t request a rematch. Or swept on the cards
A clear victory by someone doesn’t warrant a rematch. It sucks we see a champ lose then an immediate rematch. It’s almost 100% of the time now. Before it wasn’t like that. And data shows a crazy number don’t win them back.
What do you mean, sucker?
While I acknowledge her as a champion I never respected her. Her anticks after a win just turned me off. She was not winning before the submission as she thinks. She has been humbled and needs to learn the humility that has been handed her.
Ariel just straight up telling lies about what he said regarding the rematch lol
Now she must fight me, Dickmond Dickelheimer the 3rd thank you very much
I knew it was over for her after the santos fight
🎯 she lost that fight too smh
What’s funny is she pretty much used Santos style to try to beat Grasso (which we know she was made one ) and backfire meanwhile Valentina coach was begging her to not wrestle Santos 🙃🙃
I have to watch that fight
Next fight there should be no pressure, I mean as a champ to hold on to belt, she should feel like rose did after Jessica, and just go in feeling so liberated because that expectation of winning is gone. Let the champ feel all the pressure
I love how she shows Holly Holm love and respect!
Valentina starting with saying she is recovering from injuries from training camp lol.
I’ve always liked Valentina she seemed humble but now you can tell she has an ego, she’s not taking the big L good and she will lose again in the rematch
Well losing her belt the way she did. Certainly didn't humble her. Doesn't she realize that if that would have been a street fight to the death. She wouldn't be hear anymore literally so not acknowledging the fact that that was a great submission move she got caught with is crazy to me
Instead of getting upset, train harder to get that belt back!
16:43 “while she can”😂😂
I thought Valentino was losing that fight. I'm not sure what she's talking about and I always root for her.
😂😂😂😂 Valentina had a lot to get off her chest regarding that loss, I still think if she didn’t Unintentionally constantly head butt Tahlia Santos, Santos would have won
She only headbutted Santos once, and it didn't cost Santos the fight 😂
🎯 i forgot all about that damn headbutt ‼️‼️😒😒
Train at Tiger Muy Thai, not some random MMA Gym in Japan. I think she just severely underestimated Grasso and got caught.
Tiger Muay Thai is not a great gym I feel... Yan & Fiziev have been exposed lately, I don't think they really gameplan over there
@@kevindurantburner3592 L take. Volk trains there dummy.
@@jayeff8096 no he doesn't 😂😂😂😂😂
He just went there to sharpen his striking during the Holloway fight.
@@flyingmonke Firstly: no, he cross-trains there just like he cross-trains with CKB. Secondly: he goes there to train wrestling with the Hickman brothers. Frank was literally in Volk’s corner.
@@jayeff8096 No he doesn't.... All the best coaches at Tiger (Hickman bros and a few others) started a new gym early last year. He trains over there now it's called Bangtao Muay Thai.
What an absolute legend. Amazing interview. Thank you!
Also as a big fan of the bullet, I’m not sure she wins the rematch. Due to getting pierced up on the feet, she was left with her wrestling.. got tired threw a telegraphed take down & round kick.. got finished! Grass will be even better in the rematch.
It's so weird how every champ or fighter starts to decline massively right at 35 years old.
Exactly that's just life you can't beat father time it doesn't matter how good you're! The only one who managed to beat it is Glover Teixeira 😂
35 is around the age that hang overs begin to really really suck as well.
