I cant wait for part 2
The photo of the wombat in your thumbnail was built by a friend if mine over here to a very very high standard. Runs like a dream and plenty have been built since! Brilliant choice
I’ve seen it run on a WA track, in a CZcams video by a guy named Ian. I tried to get in touch with him to ask to use some of his footage, but had no success in contacting him.
I grabbed the image, with permission, from the E and J Winter website.
Could you put me in touch with your friend?
@@TheMillRailwayCo The builder sold it, not sure who owns it now but will do some digging for ya 😁
oooook subscribed. I've been building mine for the last year (my first one and a 5" too) and I still haven't finished the tender yet. Looking forward to watching your progress!
Thanks for watching Paul! It turns out I have a little learning to do, as this beginners kit is neither for beginners, or a lot in the traditional sense.
I’m working on getting together with some people, and also learning how to read schematics.
Looking forward to the day I actually start working on it.
Love the video Dutchy, looking forward to seeing the next one!
Thank you! I’m looking forward to being on the other end of edit-day :D
It’s always a relief when there’s a video waiting to go up. It doesn’t happen often.
mate great work ... I love steam and baby steam projects ... dont give up and show us what ya got ... And yes ya will have to read the instructions .... LOL
I’m stuck for now, as I have no workshop, no machines and no model engineering knowledge.
I’m meeting up with someone on Sunday who is also building a Wombat, he is bringing the bits and pieces for his tender chassis so he can point out what I need to make, how he did it, etc. Hopefully I’ll learn something :)
Fun video 😀 I’m building a Poll 3 and soon Polly 5 on my channel and am loving every minute of it. Keep steaming
I just checked out the Polly kits. Next project maybe?
@@TheMillRailwayCo Sweet!
@@TheMillRailwayCo Oh and if you get a Polly tell em Train Builder sent ya :)
It helps me out...!!
G’day Dutch and greetings from Tasmania I came across your channel and I noticed that you have built the Wombat which I have being thinking about building it. It was good showing the kits for building the loco, the thing that has me wondering how much does it all cost as a posed to building it the usual way. I see from the date that you started the build some time ago, did you finish it? Anyway it was good to see the first kit, John kinnane
Nice new intro mate. And great vid
Thanks Sniffer! Normally we knock out an edit in a couple of hours. This episode took us a whole day.
I’m glad the new intro is appreciated!
Is there a part 2 to the wombat build saga
There will be. With Australia opening up, and the events industry opening up again, I’m a little occupied trying to re-start my events businesses, but hope to be back in the workshop in the Bor too distant future.
So why is everything divided into kits? You can't build the train with only one kit, you need em all? Spare parts?
Looking forward to the build btw!
Thanks for the suggestion last episode.
The instructions were printed in a magazine that came out once every two months. To coincide with issues, build kits were created to spread the cost of materials out over time.
@@TheMillRailwayCo owh that makes a lot of sense, I didn't realize they structured it that way. Pretty cool! Looking forward to the first build video. Looks like a very doable build
@@BastiaanOlij As I mentioned in the video, I’ve never built anything before. The tender looks fairly doable, but I think the locomotive is going to be a pretty rude blow to my ego.
Hi Dutch can I have a email or Facebook link to get intouch with you I’m a 7 1/4 train buff🚂
Seems we got in contact already. :)
