    Most of it is base building though. Early game is crafting a lot by hand but your basically at the point where you should be having miners->smelters->constructors to build everything you need. The main trick is setting it all up with splits to feed one miner into multiple constructors to automate making all the different items.
    The down/boring time would be gathering all that biomass which if you have the recipe I recommend processing into a sort of refined biomass, i forget what it's called, because you get more fuel from it. Once you get coal power and can automate power though the hassle of biomass goes away. Also potential downtime is just waiting for the automated constructors to finish if you don't have a fast through put on them.
    The other potential interesting part is exploring as there are lots of wrecks around which you can gather tech from to unlock new recipes. So roaming around the map either on foot or vehicle could be interesting depending on what you stumble across.
    My recommendation is stream the building of base with setting up automation of production. have your constructors feed into storage containers then let them game run a bit offline so you have plenty of supplies to unlock things and further base building on next stream. But do the actually unlocking on stream as you like the sounds and there a nice satisfying sound and visuals when you unlock tiers with the space elevator.

  • @RowenStipe
    @RowenStipe Před 2 lety +2

    My suggestion for a lets play is to montage "special moments" from when you're grinding out the various unlocks off-stream, like when you encounter and tame your first lizard doggo or stumble into an interesting area during off stream exploration so we can get your first reaction. I can understand cutting out 2-6 hours of crafting and planning then dumping that footage to save on storage space. That way you can dedicate the stream towards "Okay, today we're going to setup a copper mining outpost and send it back to our base." or "Today we're going to make a logistics network." type content.
    Also a fun tip: You can run calculations in the search bar so you don't need to have a separate calculator open for some quick math.

  • @Saurlok
    @Saurlok Před 2 lety +7

    Almost the entire time your in game it will be base building, optimizing, or exploring to get more to build more. Offline you could definetly do planning and exploring setting up power lines to new places or just letting the game run in the background to build up resources. Even with 100% efficient builds, some things like reinforced plates only produce at 5/min and you need hundreds to thousands for belts. You will have no shortage of things to do, especially once you get foundation.

    Important tip for you:
    1. 1 constructor/assembler per item at normal speed is more than enough, it might seem slow, but it will build up faster than you think
    2. Always switch to the fastest conveyor belt and miners, but don't need to change previous ones used in your production(everything after the first smelter/constructor), only upgrade belts with ore and miners
    3. Automate as many items as soon as possible, no matter how hard they are
    4. Build with foundations and multiple floors, but don't have multiple floors for 1 item
    5. Build everything to be multiplied by 100. Also make it as easy to upgrade to better conveyor belts as possible. Don't run a conveyor lift to each required recource on the floors, but have 1 lift with maximum items per minute going across every floor that requires it and split some off
    6. Make a giant item storage hallway
    7. Make a excel document for your ore requirements per floor.
    8. You don't need to delete your old factory, just route its ores to your new factory.
    With these i managed to complete satisfactory without it becoming very frustrating.

    Biggest thing to know early is that a mk miner 1 will produce 60 ore per minute if its a normal node a pure will yield 90 a minute, so with that said you can run 2 smelters per miner on a normal and 3 on a pure. thats huge to know. you also can make things 100% efficient by feeding the proper amount of items per minute. like a smelter will make 30 ingots so you can feed the output into a splitter and make 3 more belts all connected to a contstructor and you have 3 iron rod stations at 100% efficiency. everything works this way. you should also try to get to coal power asap because getting biomass is a pain in the butt when you have alot of power needs. Pro tip for power. Build a big area purely made out of biomass burners and connect them all. you can underclock them if you dont need as much power making them burn fuel slower. A scenario would be you have 6 generators and set them all to half capacity. and up them as you need more. dont go too crazy as coal power will replace the burners. AND BUILD EVERYTHING ON A FLOOR TILE. YOU WILL REGRET NOT DOING THIS. Changing the build feature to Zoop lets you create up to 10 tiles at once . thats about all i can say without writing a 2nd essay

    The forest is actually the best starting area as it has all the end game resources near by and a spot with 4 pure iron, 2 pure copper, 2 pure Limestone, 2 pure quartz, within 10meters of eachother, 1 oil lake in the ravine with a geyser, 4 pure coal next to water across from starting spot and 2normal caterium nodes not too far up the hill. The only downside is alot of hatchers and a high level spitter in the area as well as cramped land space for building horizontally. The Spot is x: -398, y: -1398. So you can build up resources quickly than transport them to say the desert for larger horizontal building projects. The Grasslands are the worst besides the 2 coal and caterium all the nodes are impure for the most part.

    As you go through the milestones they ask for more refined/processed materials sometimes requiring new raw materials.
    It is often interesting to see how different people work in the new production steps into their factory. From finding new materials, to figuring out how they want to lay out the necessary production buildings.

    For your next session. Tier 2 Obstacle clearing is good choice. Get Chainsaw to quickly clear foliage in an AoE around you.
    And sooner you get to Coal power, the sooner you can automate electricity and never have to pick shrubs and sticks anymore. It is unlocked in Tier 3 and you will need water for it also.

      @@Krakenfall Absolutely enjoy the game your own way. I've played it since it first launched years ago. Now I streamline towards coal. Basic setup, and a lot of hand crafting. But I bumrush towards coal asap.
      Biomass burner is 30MW power, Coal is 75MW each. And with belts and water, it is all self sustaining. (basic values before overclocking. Which can boost Coal to 151.5MW each)
      Such a relief when you get it setup. So I tend to ignore everything else and beeline towards it.
      It is the most satisfying production you will unlock until hoverpacks and can effortlessly build vertically (*with active power grid nearby, it uses wireless power transmission) 😄

    The way i approach a new world is first make what is called a spaghetti base, which is the basics all automated allowing mass production of plates, wire, concrete, cable etc (the first stage stuff) then work towards mass production of each (concrete is used a lot for walls and floors) next big goal is coal power ... and the rest is too mind blowing to go into. If you can get to coal you have done well. Note you can put containers stacked on top of each other (just line up input outputs) and use lifts/belts to connect them at the end of each product. This also means if you put a butt ton of storage on your spaghetti base you can leave it running in background to fill up and then use those items for building ... on stream build off stream let factory fill. This method is in no way comprehensive but it works for me.

    Ah, memories about my first play through came up with this'^^ Good memories tho.
    Little tip about the work benches, don't know if someone else mentioned it in another video maybe already. But if you hold down SPACE to manually craft an item, you can drag and drop a stack of the highlighted items in the top right corner of the workbench interface. That will cause the Space bar to get "stuck" and you can manually craft things in bulks without holding down or repeatedly smash a button.

    • @Krakenfall

      Thanks for the tip! I think Coffee Stain Studios actually added that "feature" to the game officially. As a fairly new player please keep in the starting phases, everyone seems to do that different and that is what I would like to see. Just so you know, I haven't seen it mentioned but you can just press space bar and it will keep crafting and you don't have to hold anything. You won't be doing a lot of crafting by hand but boy it is nice to let it keep going for some repetitive parts. Also if no one has told you, you don't lose materials from dismantling.
