    Straight to the point. Excellent video, Mike. I’m an Excel guy and this video is very intuitive and translates very well.

    Brilliant Mike. Worked in my Acrobat X Pro. Thanks! I only wish I could add this as a button to my Toolbar 🙂

      You can always add the Preflight button to the Quick Tools bar at the top of Acrobat. Still one more step to get to the actual preflight profile, but at least the Preflight window would be quicker access.

    If I have not done something irreversible to my book files I now have adobe illustrator And can hopefully get the formatting corrected using an artboard. I think ? I am using Amazon kdp for my books.

    Ok, but why you should delete them? Aren't they useful for cutting afterwards?

    • @miketheprintman
      @miketheprintman  Před 2 lety

      Sometimes it's not about the crop marks, but the other items that get put on the graphic along with it. Often times designers will put the color bars or PDF information as well, when they select the crop marks during output. If you have a b/w image for example printing on a digital press, those color bars would result in a color click instead of a b/w click, changing the price of your print. Also, sometimes the crop marks are not put in the proper position, or butt right up against the cut line of the file. When you cut them after printing the crop mark may bleed onto the page a little. Just a couple examples, but there are situations where the marks need to be deleted before printing.

      Sometimes for example when making a brochure, catalogue, a PM may provide pdf advertisements from clients which still have print marks that need to be removed before placing them inside indesign (optimal flexibility). It'll take too long to contact the PM who then needs to contact the client, who then needs to contact his/her graphic designer to give a pdf without printmarks. This solves that problem in less than a minute.

    Excellent video although it did not work on my client's file.

    • @miketheprintman
      @miketheprintman  Před rokem

      Occasionally the crop marks could be made in Photoshop and will not be editable. Also, sometimes designers put the crop marks in using solid lines instead of using the embedded Adobe crop marks when they export. If that happens this method won't work and you'll have to manually select the marks and delete them in Acrobat DC or Illustrator.

    Is this trick will work on Dark spot or patch in Pdf file ?

    • @miketheprintman
      @miketheprintman  Před 2 lety

      This is only to remove crop marks that have been made in programs like Illustrator, InDesign or QuarkExpress. It will not remove a specific item or patch. If you want to do that, you need to use the "Object Select" tool in Acrobat and select the object and delete it. However, often times objects are part of clipping mask, so you may also delete additional objects you were not intending to delete.

    Add 0.125" (3.2 mm) to your book's page width and 0.25" (6.4 mm) to the page height to and remove any crop marks or water bars ( can you make a video specific to this please) I’m working on a 8.50 x 11

      They are probably looking for a PDF with bleed on it. Watch my video on how to add bleeds to any PDF. That should be helpful for you.

      @miketheprintman  Před 5 měsíci

      @@GR-mw1tk so do you scan all your hand drawn illustrations and then convert them to PDFs? If so you’ll need to use some sort of layout program, like InDesign to correctly layout and position those files.
