One of the few movies John Wayne plays a scoundrel, I believe many are still even unaware of ? Quite a story!
Loved both books ,too. Rousing stories...loved the great tall ships and schooners of yore
Thank you for this great movie. It's hard to find these lost gems. I enjoy many of the actors and the cinematography is spectacular for it's time and even now. There are a lot of films that are just that, just films.
Awwhh, You Betcha, Haven't seen a Movie Yet, that I didn't like! Sadly, no more. John Wayne was an Icon, & Legend! 😟, RIP-JW! Thank's for the Movie 1nc. Again! GBU.,SM.,NZ., ✌❤😁🙏🤗👍👏
Look out for the lavender tones in Technicolor: Susan Hayward's dress arriving at party in Charleston. No film medium has ever reproduced lavender like Technicolor: a hallmark. I almost didn't recognize Ray Milland all prissy! And what a great villain, Massey. Good music, too. I am amazed I never heard of this film.
Am sure if LADY GAGA KNEW WHAT AN ALCOHOLIC BIGOT JOHN WAYNE WAS SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT SONG ABOUT HIM
I love these old movies
Totally enjoyed this movie. Oddly, never even heard of it. And, very surprised that i didn't even recognize Susan Hayward! One of those films i'll watch many, many times. Thank you SO much!
Awesome movie….never seen this one before, great story and great Actors/Actresses….thanks for sharing….love watching these movies more than what’s showing in today’s films….HIGH 5….👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
That was an awesome movie thank you for putting it up. 🇦🇺💕💕💕
I’ve never seen this one before. What a great movie! ❤
Never seen this movie before either, never seen John Wayne as a Sailor, really good movie. THE SARGE
Actually quite an amazing film. Decades ahead of 20,000 Leagues. DeMille.
A great adventure film, with Ray Milland ❤ and John Wayne, two of my favorites
Weird seeing Ray Milland with hair! Just remember him from Columbo episode; Greenhouse Jungle, and shows like that. Good Movie!
Yeah he must have been pissed when he started losing it! Good transitionfrom Leading Man to Stately Old Guy!
Such a great movie.. i miss these from when i was little.. good wholesome movies
It's been a very long time since I saw this movie. Thank you for showing it. ❤ Great award winning actors, great love story and dramatic action, better production than the computerized garbage made today.
Am sure if LADY GAGA KNEW WHAT AN ALCOHOLIC BIGOT JOHN WAYNE WAS SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT SONG ABOUT HIM
Brings back good memories of going to the "Drive In!"
Omgosh, right? Our grands just do not know how much fun the old ways were. Pay Phones, Drive in Movies, landlines, etc.
This was a real frickin movie!!!!!🔥🔥🔥❤💪😎👍🙏💜
Great movie, got a kick out of seeing Milburn Stone in it ( Doc Adam's from Gun Smoke)!
i thought that i had seen all of John Wayne's movies. until i watched this movie. Thank You Very Much for posting this movie. :)
Am sure if LADY GAGA KNEW WHAT AN ALCOHOLIC BIGOT JOHN WAYNE WAS SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT SONG ABOUT HIM
Good movie from days long gone. Thanks 👍
Thank you for sharing this wonderful movie 🎬
Great movie! I wish they still made movies like this today
That is some impressive piece of high wind acting by everybody involved, esp. Ms. Goddard.
Nice! I enjoyed watching. Thank you for sharing, much appreciated❤️
This was an incredible love story.
Good story with lots of twists and turns and no fear of losing key players. Nice to see all those stars in their younger days.
What an all star cast
I absolutely love this movie!!
Great movie! Great Actors and Acting!👏🎥
One of the most fun things about this film, other than a Strong Female Character who's still feminine, is that it's an interesting piece of actual history long forgotten unless you live in Florida. The Florida coast is an absolute ships' graveyard.
Great movie. Thank you for sharing ❤
Paramount films. MGM. and all the great old movie companies before sex films and China took over Hollywood.
Thank you for sharing
China did not take over Hollywood. The Trump cult is not news or the truth.
What a great movie, thanks
sadly to say all these wonderful actors and actresses have passed on
Well it was made in 1941, 82 years ago from 2023. Almost a century ago.
@@brianmccarthy5557 well i use to watch their movies when i was a kid and i know its been a while, not many active people live beyond the 100 yr mark unless you live in Georgia in Southern Russia, although its an independant nation
Charleston is one of my favorite places it a living museum and I love that Low Country food.
Best damn movie I've seen in a long time. Plot shifter.
I always loved John Wayne! ❤
Great movie. Thrilling til the end
I guess I must have missed this one all these years.
Yes,,, Thanks Very Much !!!!!
Totally a forgotten "A" picture in Technicolor! I have always kept an eye out, never heard a whiff of this! Cool!
I'm highly fond of the Western movies
John was a great actor ❤
Am sure if LADY GAGA KNEW WHAT AN ALCOHOLIC BIGOT JOHN WAYNE WAS SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT SONG ABOUT HIM
Susan Hayward looks amazingly beautiful in this early film. Robert Preston as well.
John Wayne was and is one of my heros especially when I was a child
I like Cecil B. De Mille movies, there's just something about them that I just can't quite put my finger on, but I like them, I've never seen this one before, that's for sure. THE SARGE
Great movie. Geez they were great actors
I'm a new subscriber. Haven't seen this in a long time. Thank you! Great movie!

Great movie great cast
Cinema excellent on all counts.
Good movie. Thanks.
Um verdadeiro clássico, uma relíquia, pena não ser dublado em português BR!
Great movie. Over the years only saw bits and pieces then finally saw it all. A real classic film based on real people and real sailing ships. The giant squid was questionable until I saw Pirates of the Caribbean. I know that part is true.
Not many times you see John Wayne as the bad guy and loose the girl, But was totally entertained.
Great movie 👍🍻
If you love this movie, and you haven't seen it, you should watch Beau Geste -- early Susan Hayward, again, Gary Cooper, Ray Milland and Robert Preston. It, too, would be a movie you go back to again and again.
So "The Wreck of the Red Witch" was a rewrite of this! John Wayne must've really liked the story and wanted to make a version all his own!
Saw this many years ago when i was a child, i was sure it was in black and white then? I fell in love with the dresses, and of course John Wayne
MUITO BOM FILME ADOREI
John Wayne was always a true American inside and out! 💪
Am sure if LADY GAGA KNEW WHAT AN ALCOHOLIC BIGOT JOHN WAYNE WAS SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT SONG ABOUT HIM
@@doreekaplan2589 : Actually, JW tried to enlist, but was denied - Don't recall the reasons why, but JW was disappointed ..... My Dad tried to join the Army, but was rated 4F, so he joined the Merchant Marines.
Great movie
Man they don’t make them like this anymore!
The language utilized in this film is fascinating.
Cecil b Demille made great movies,
Nice classic movies.
Love the costumes in this movie, very elegant
We in Europe like it'll be translated but we learned that American idol is judges system it's making us nuts & today's is worsening it ssacks 😂
Big John Wayne!!!
A true example for people!!!!!
A sexist, bigotted, alcoholic, draft dodger is a "true example"?
I don't think so
Am sure if LADY GAGA KNEW WHAT AN ALCOHOLIC BIGOT JOHN WAYNE WAS SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT SONG ABOUT HIM
Thanks
classic
THANK YOU

At the time in 1942, the giant squid would have been animated with stop motion.
It is a sad story. I felt so bad for the desperate Jack doing such a crazy thing, and poor Drusilla. It was awful.
from the mayflower onwards/ most sailors were from london, england
Been a Wayne fan since my pre-school days, c 1949 - 50.

A great movie but me back in my early days into the 50s
Sound is on from 30 seconds in
[SPOILER] Wow! John Wayne didn't get the girl at the end! Was't expecting that!
@pilotusa- I know, and to be outdone by a fake octopus at that! Ain't right.
Am sure if LADY GAGA KNEW WHAT AN ALCOHOLIC BIGOT JOHN WAYNE WAS SHE NEVER WOULD HAVE WRITTEN THAT SONG ABOUT HIM
Paulette was babalicious!
Character building movie most oldie's are for many free thinkers..👍
It's definitely a Sunday afternoon film
❤
*3 minutes in* Is this...a movie about the origin of the Coast Guard? And they used to be called STORM RIDERS?!
😂she really went in on him at the concert on piano.😂😂😂
Early 40s Wayne was not always top billing
Watch "The Wake Of The Red Witch "
bummer, John Wayne didn't get the girl in this movie, no "riding off into the sunset" for JW.
Referring to Afghanistan resources after the US departure 🙏🕊️🇦🇫
A great classic.
Gut zap ⚡️⚡️💪💪💪
Ray Milland sounds soo much like Cary Grant.
When Hedda Hopper was an actress
Not too many stunt monkeys were drowned during the making of this movie.
It would be fun to wear hoop skirts bustles and corsets😂🎉❤
1840s salvage and pirates
Cape Hatteras claimed far more ships.
So far, this looks like an imitation "Gone With The Wind." Paulette's consolation prize for losing Scarlett?
This is a great old movie!! Great cast, lots of action! Thanks for posting, Sheriff!
