*Plays wrong note*
*Aggressively tries to adjust head joint*
i play clarinet and this is still relatable
If I had a penny for everytime I pulled in and pulled out my head piece because a note sounded the tiniest bit wrong I'd be rich
Omg yess 🙌🏻 -flute
its not me its the headjoint i swear
That's nothin when i play a wrong rhythm i rearrange my trumpet mouthpiece
My band director once told me:
"How do you get two piccolo players in tune?"
"You shoot one of them"
🤣 oh no
Yep, told this from age 9 lol
I’ve literally heard this in the middle of school 😂
me too, except mine stopped the joke halfway through. everyone knew the punchline already though.
@@brooklynstrickland109 i was in a marching band and they were just happy to have one in the band so they didn't say all those bad things to me. LOL
YES AS A FLUTE PLAYER I RELATE
especially when you come to band and it’s cold so it’s flat af and you have the head joint pushed all the way in 😀
Omggg I love your channel!!!
YOU play flute ik it’s been a year since u commented but I play flute too!!!
YOU PLAY FLUTE ?!? ( i just knew )
omg felt, just every single time i play i have to have the head joint pulled out a centimeter 😭😭
Hey franns🐺🐺🔥🔥‼️‼️
As a flute player, I can relate. I play the wrong note all the time. I try playing a song and then I either get confused and play the wrong note or just get lost and pretend to play. Lol
High school clarinetist here, that was me 😅 sometimes during concerts 😬 I never played very loud and I wasn't the only one with my part, so it's not like much was missed from my failures. I struggled to catch up, especially when we started getting into weird times like 6|8 or...gag...3|2 x_x 3|2 just killed me
blow too hard, wrong octave. too soft, airy/broken. wrong angle, wrong sound. head joint slightly messed up, wrong tune all together. why? idk.
Same!!!
@@theSheighani42 Just give up. Nobody wants to go to concerts where the players aren't committed.
@@PreservationEnthusiast
I WAS committed. I just didn't have the confidence. And you seem to have missed the part where I mentioned this was HIGH SCHOOL. No one is expecting a grand Philharmonic performance from Freshmen... 🤷♀️ people don't go to High School concerts for the high quality, they go to support the kids working hard or trying something new.
Piccolo players don’t play the piccolo, they play with the tuner.

I feel personally attacked 😂
Truth
Truth, tuning your piccolo is a nightmare. My band teacher have gone to a point to just skipping me in tuning because if we do so we will run out of time in class
My band teacher told me I was a little flat...
I w a s p u s h e d i n a l l t h e w a y
my band teacher once said shoot a piccolo to tune a piccolo
way too hard to get them both to sound decent together
@@Angelina-yq5sn i don't even play piccolo or flute and I felt that.... the p a I n.
We would get close but I have a good ear so he would be like... just adjust as you play...
@@Angelina-yq5sn you just needed to warm it up then
i actually had to play the stars and stripes forever solo with my piccolo section in SOPHOMORE YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL 😭😭 i practiced for HOURS every day and ultimately i was actually really proud of how i did at the concert! :)
You had a SECTION of piccolos?!?!
@@averymcconnell8190 yes lol my high school had flutes during concert band season and then we'd switch to piccolos during marching band season! it was just as much of a disaster to tune as you'd expect 💀 but it was so fun haha :)
Section? We had a first and a second :/
Are you familiar with the part for piccolo in Sergei Prokofiev's Lieutenant Kijé suite?
@@averymcconnell8190 Lol surprisingly this was my Saxophone section in middle school. We had like 75 members of the band, and my friend Brittney on Alto, and myself on Tenor. That was it. 🤣 We had more xylophone players than Sax players.
The contrast between being very sharp and very flat in a span of a few seconds of tuning piccolo is terrifying
As a flutist, I can relate, my parents are like “Play this and this.” When I can barely get through Mary had a little lamb 😬
@victoria that might've been an exaggeration XD
@victoria that might have been a joke
It’s a tuning thing
@victoria oh yeah lel it's 5 am for me and my brain tripping out as well 😂
@victoria Oml I relate so much 💀. My brain doesn't function well at 1:00 am onwards till I sleep. Once I started a fight in the comments at 1:30 something am and I was just typing in some random shit 💀. The next day I saw my comments wondering when I commented that. It was so embarrassing 😭🖐🏻
As a bassoonist who sat behind the flute section, tuning the piccolo was hell on the ears.
I'm sure, I sit next to the flutes (we don't have piccolos) and just the flutes hurt my ears
Eyy, a fellow bassoonist, it’s really hell hearing the piccolos tune at times lol
Yea I play flute and piccolo tuning takes me forever on the piccolo so I usually give up haha I don’t play it in class tho so no ones ears die
Another Fellow Bassoonist. I could not agree more
@@KeruuKat Ayyy flute gang!!!
As an oboe player, I can also relate to your pain 😌
Imagine me, specializing in flute, piccolo, and oboe... I'm surprised my parents didn't just come in and steal my piccolo and oboe for kindling.
That tune got me ready to grab my musket and march into an open field
😂
I can say with 1000% confidence that my bad hearing now is due to my 6 solid years in band sitting beside the piccolo player
I played piccolo for six years and I’m very grateful to whoever invented earplugs 🙏
Rippp I played piccolo for a couple years and I sat to the left of some poor clarinet player. Everytime I played something higher than a high c he would have to pop his ears
Me and the other piccolo always make sure to keep extra earplugs on us to hand out of anyone needs some
Me, a trombonist who definitely played directly into our bands bari sax player's ear: 😬 my bad Eugene 😅
yeah, band should just come with a purchase requirement of something like the ETY Plugs or ER20XS. Some passive high fidelity SPL attenuators so you can still hear what's going on, but you can sit next to other band members without going deaf. Sitting beside other piccolo players or in front of the trumpet section is a quick route to hearing loss and tinnitus.
Ok but that piccolo solo in “The Stars and Stripes Forever” is an absolute bop
I got to perform it, it was an honor 😁
I had to play that
i played it in 10th grade lmao 😭 it was actually so fun though and my piccolo section did amazing!
Honestly, the entirety of stars and stripes forever is a banger, Sousa really went off with that one
actually thooo my best friend played it as a sophomore in hs and she was amazing
THIS IS SO RELATABLE-
But for I am a "pianist, fluatist, and ukelelist,"
As some who has played both flute and piccolo for a few years I can confirm I will spend a good third of my practice time pushing in and pulling out the head joint and wondering whether I should trust my tuner or not
I'm a flutist and I swear I spend half my time trying to make sure I'm in tune😂
Idk why but the flute that I use to play is almost always in tune.Honestly I don't tune yet I sound in tune
I agree bc I started playing the flute not too long ago and I can’t get into tune 😂😂
So real 😭
And the other half playing out of tune. The same here.
And then you have to choose between the tune of clarinets or trumpets 😅
As a flute myself this is real. Accurate. And it’s hilarious.
Fr fellow flutist here
And there was me seeing the wording and wondering how a flute could type. Thanks for the smile. The mental image was great.

I main ssj blue goku in dbl
You just have to spread them first them the only thing he breaks is your hole, speaking from the heart

How do you get 2 piccolo players in tune?
Shoot one
Fun fact "All notes you're playing already" 💀
"Piccolo players"
Oh so you play a namekian
i giggled too much at this
*Why is this so accurate-* ✋😭
(Not a piccolo player but a flute player)

How do you get two piccolo players to play in tune: fire one of them
Whenever I screw up on flute, I always blame it on the flute-
Same I’m a flutist and I need to tune a lot.
I love how everyone is relating the piccolo to DragonBall.
That’s a Sousa March
It's not broken. You can't tune a piccolo
Lol
@@faithtalks8622 In some ways you can... For both the dragonball and instrument version
“Ah yes, fellow flute player.”
The Stars and Stripes forever is too accurate I can’t😭😭😭
For those wondering, the solo is from the March " the stars and stripes forever " . I played it in highschool ( melephone ) and since then can never get it out of my head.
What the piccolo player plays: Giving the flautist permanent ear damage.
Funny🤣 .. Behind every joke there’s always a bit of truth
I love how she doesn’t just say “what everyone thinks I play” so she can play it longer if she keeps listing the people lol she really said you ✨WILL✨ listen to me
it’s a meme format
i dont think you get the joke lol
As a fellow musician (Trombone not piccolo) this is relatable because I also play with the note detecter (or what ever it’s called) not the song.
I always look forward to hear this solo when we play Stars and Stripes :D
As a flute player I can confirm that this is 100% FACTS
Edit: Thanks for the likes

Story time: My high school marching band had two piccolo players, me and my friend. We played this song one year and I had it perfect every time we practiced. We didn’t have a football team (small school) so our only performance was at a showcase called the Cavalcade of Bands. It was about 0C (32F), so when it came time for this piccolo part I started out fine until spit got clogged in the keys. All I could do was stand there and pretend to play. I was devastated because it was so fun to play, but with the stupid keys clogged I couldn’t get higher than a C without squealing. Now I blow into the keys after every song to prevent that from ever happening again.
Also, if tuning one piccolo is pain then tuning two piccolos is practically torture 😭
we have 4 of us in my band and its a pain in the ass. Especially when we go up to the 3rd octave :')
We had four in marching band and they would attempt to put us on opposite sides of the field!
Our director is vehemently against flutes marching and tries to get all of us on picc. We have eight of them
@@parrotpepper332 Our school only had two piccolos available for use, so only the most experienced players had the privilege to use them. Everyone else was like “oh well guess we’re on flute” \_(ツ)_/
i’m the only one i’m my band
This song was the only time one of our flute players switched to piccolo in high school band. And yes, they spent a lot of time tuning.
This is so true, the piccolo player in my band has absolute confidence in their tuning skills until they pull out a tuner lmao
Finally, CZcams recommends a short that I can relate to
I like Piccolo, he become my favorite in the abridged version when he said “DODGE”
Want to listen to a full version of that now. Very pretty!
Honestly, that song is so cool. It reminds me of Pinocchio idk why but it’s so cute 😂
thats why i play Bamboo flutes 😂 no “perfect tuning” required.
YES
i play the flute and i can relate to this on a SPIRITUAL LEVEL😭😭
Same😭
When she leaned In close🤚 I do that all the time because sometimes I can't tell the higher ledger lines from my stand
Honestly, playing in front of others everyone thinks I'm so great, as soon as I go home to practise, those notes will just not come out right.
@@lauracarthew yeah same
Why is it that when my anxiety is the highest everything goes the best, come on why does it have to be this way?
I play the bass, guitar and ukulele and this is sooo relatable especially for the guitar with SIX strings😭
(And i play the piano but i don't have to tune it myself. And the kazoo and noseflute lol😂)
Ah the memories of our director picking on the flutes, piccs, and oboes almost every single day.
Literally brought out multiple types of tuners on the them.
I'd have wished him "good luck with the oboes..." 🙄
@@cmelodysaxKinda ironic since the oboe is the one that an orchestra uses to tune up to!
Ironic too that none of us on wind instruments really play with a 'neutral' embouchure across the range of an instrument, it varies with (literally) each note - and most musicians I know listen to the surrounding sounds and tune to them, it's an automatic process, honed over the decades...@@denisemayosky1955
Has someone played piccolos theme on a piccolo flute yet?
I low-key thought this was about Dragonball at first
Me too 😭
On piccolo, i play "SPECIAL BEAM CANNON"
As a flute player- so god damn real I be running on stage adjusting my flute and making sure it’s in tune lol
Bro Piccolo is mad op in dbzf rn
Tuning is always the hardest part of playing any instrument, piccolo especially
before you started playing i immediately thought stars & stripes forever 💀💀
As a saxophonist i sat by a person who played the piccolo and them tuning it just hurt my ears 🫠
OMG. I was laughing way harder than I should have.
But honestly such a missed chance to play spongebob 😭
OMG thank you so much. I was in Highschool Band and for some reason whenever the flutes would flutter like that i would break out into uncontrollable laughter. Now my roommate thinks I'm insane because i just laughed for 45 minutes straight at you playing
Darn, wish i could feel what you feel when you flutter xD
Instant laughs, lol
I'm in high school marching band now actually.
@@Sunset_feels414 Hell yeah what do you play
@@ronnydawson8594 well I started off for about 2 years a clarinet, and now I'm a tenor, I had to learn tenor in one week for a concert at our final shows, and a Christmas concert. But I nailed it sort of and now I'm going to March tenor. I love my band were really small. We got move up to 2a when were a 1a band for one competition.
( Tenor sax )
@@Sunset_feels414 thats awesome yeah I played trombone in a 3A band back In Cali. It was an awesome time. But that was a lifetime ago. But it was great. Keep it up kiddo. If you ever post a video of your band try to remember to send me a link. Or just come back here and let me know , would love to hear ya'll.
you should 100% be wearing some hearing protection. Companies like Etymotic and several others make pass-through noise dampening earplugs that allow you to still hear what's happening around you, but it attenuates all sound to a level where it won't cause hearing loss. These kinds of things are sold for use at concerts and for artists who may not be wearing IEMs for feedback. My sister played flute and piccolo for years and ended up with hearing loss on one side due to it. You can't get that back once you've lost it.
The fact that she is living my dream...being a flautist in New York
You can do it too! ❤
@@tovanille i hope!

you will find Latin/Afro Cuban music has lots of flute with a bias towards piccolo, maybe because piccolo can sound over all the percussion instruments where the flute likely has to be mic'd?
-plays wrong note- agressively stares at flute looking for problem
One of the crowning achievements of my career as a trumpet player was to master this little Sousa bit. She was a really accomplished flutist. We played it together, five years after she issued the challenge.
GREAT!! Now every time I think of Piccolo from Dragon Ball I will hear this piccolo flute in my head!! Thanks!!
As a piccolo player I absolutely relate to this 😂 I love playing the stars and stripes solo, but tuning is an absolute nightmare!
I always keep an ear out for piccolo when I listen to Romantic Era music. It has always been such a powerful instrument, one of my favorites for sure.
Tbh, as a Euphonium player a good amount of our music has flute solo parts, but the the thing is, the clarinets or the saxophones end up drowning them out. But as being in the low brass, I’m used to being the people that play a lot of long notes to hold the beat and rarely do I get a low brass solo.😂😂
Finally we’re recognizing the plight of piccolo players.
Ah yes, Stars and Stripes Forever. The only piccolo song
It's been a while since I played my flute but I definitely remember this. Tried piccolo a few times and the compact nature didn't make trying to play it correctly worth it 🤣
You really have to have a decent piccolo and a good ear and ability to adjust as playing to be a good piccolo player.
and really small fingers
Life as a musician: tune your instrument for an hour to accidentally break something to get it replaced, play one song and forgetting it mid way
I love the fact that in English it's called piccolo. As an Italian it sounds really cute. It means "tiny" .
Honestly though "why are you practicing whole notes they're so easy" 😭 because of tuning and tone and sh*t, I can play hard things too ok? 😭 lmao
It’s funny how DBZ Piccolo is named after this.
:) I love stars and stripes! Oh, the piccolo tuner tunes.... great video
I’m a flute player and I can somewhat relate to this.
As a fellow piccolo/flute player, I heavily relate to this😅😅
All this time I thought you blew up the moon
The fact that it was easy to predict which song you’d play before the video even started proves your point.
“You play the piccolo-??” _confused staring_
god i love the stars and striped solo WITH A PASSION
I had to take my icepack off my eye just to sit up and post this... THIS IS FLUTE AND PICCOLO LIFE. Heck yes, this is me!
But that solo is just iconic and every piccolo player should be required to play it
Honestly I wouldn't recommend playing on the Piccolo. That man competed in the tournament of power so he'd knock almost anybody out.
I recently graduated high school and our last piece we played was “The Stars and Stripes Forever”(the piccolo solo she was playing) and 2 weeks before the concert I had to learn the piccolo to play the piece. Also i was a flute player on my 5th year at that time and never played a piccolo. So those 2 weeks were hell. My ears ringing all the time, tuning was almost impossible(considering our piccolos were a bit dingy). Even though it was hell, I enjoyed playing that piece as a piccolo player.
Our marching band show this year is called legacy and it’s about the past so first movement is Stars and Stripes forever and carnival. There’s a xylophone solo for this because our only piccolo player graduated last year.💀
I think this is the first time I’ve heard a piccolo actually sound good, at my highschool we’ve had 2 piccolo players over the span of 2 years and they’re bad😭
The sound of this instrument is so calming and nostalgic... I don't even know why, this is probably the first time I see someone playing it
Finally! Finally I found the name of the instrument. I love the sound so much.
Its the Stars And Stripes Forever for me- I'm a trumpet player but we'd run through this earlier in this school year twice and always end up going over this part, its like having flashbacks honestly
She was really good on it and didnt like the piccolo so she just slayed it on her flute
The fact that (as a percussionist) I opened this video with my volume off and still knew what you were playing at the beginning
Omg... As a piccolo player, I can fact check this... It's very true
For those curious the the song is part of "stars and stripes forever."
Sousa is really popular in HS marching bands because his stuff is just about at the level where the students can play it competently and it is upbeat and entertaining enough for the audience to really enjoy.
The song also has a noticeable 0art for another instrument. At the very end of the song.
I annoyed my parents because I always played cells theme on my piccolo and nothing else 😂😂😂
😂
The struggle of tuning with piccolos I play flute and piccolo and I love your vids
I love listening to trills
Idk why but they're just so satisfying to play and listen to. 😩
I call flute players “Flutey Pebbles”
Totally 100% correct LOL.
Add clarinet to that, it's hell cus if you place ur fingers or blow in it slightly wrong, it makes a totally different note
God I’m haunted by Stars and Stripes. I had to play the pic part for a middle school band concert as a solo because none of the other flutes tried to learn pic, so it got stuck on me. People still remember me as “the piccolo solo kid”. 🥲
I can totally understand that!!! I play the flute and it’s SO HARD to tune. It’s exhausting 😂🥵
I always thought it was me! I'M NOT ALONE!!!
