  • I like DxM's artstyle and mech controls, but I think it could do a lot more with a lot less of what I don't like about it.
You can get Daemon X Machina here:

I picked the game up again a coulple days ago cause I lost my save file last year.
It rocks, just like first I played it.
I tried AC 1 and 2. Didn't like it. I've heard 3 is peak AC so I still gotta try it, but I really like the feel of piloting an Arsenal.

If you like Daemon, you would like trying AC4, since it is the fastest game of the franchise. AC3, Silent Line, Nexus and Last Raven are nice too, especially Nexus and Last Raven because of the Analog Stick support.

speaking of the controls, if you want more modern controls on the earlier Armored Core games, AC Nexus onwards has twinstick controls like modern games, with what you'd expect, right stick camera left stick movement etc, though Nexus is known as the worst game of the series for several reasons, AC Last Raven which is the sequel fixes quite a bit of the balancing and pacing, but it's also not as strong narratively as AC3/SL to me too, but it has the twinstick controls and a lot of new parts to play with and more management with heat being an actual factor to consider in your build, and also individual part tuning for even more customization.

also, AC Nexus and Last Raven are very direct sequels to AC 3 so it shares the same engine and parts between games, though Nexus onwards renames all the parts and changes how a good amount of them work.

I wish the builds actually changed how the mech works

    Concept
What if nerf, hot wheels-matchbox cars, battletech mechs, mechwarrior mechs, star trek ships, star citizen ships, star wars ships, elite dangerous ships, null sector, Fizzco Robots, maliwan mechs, War Robots, mech arena, archangel hellfire, DOOM Eternal - ARC Mech, DOOM Eternal - ARC Giant Mech, DOOM Eternal - Atlan, adeptus titanicus, tankhead by emerson tung on artstation, Armored Core mechs & horizon machines would look like as #DaemonxMachina arsenal?

I've got the collectors edition which I've had for over a year but I've got 30 ISH games in my backlog so I have to leave this game for a bit but there's going to be a sequel so I really hope there's a lot more customization in it.

Pretty well said, gameplay interested me enough to play a lot but otherwise customization lacks depth and I found the plot initially fine, but became insufferable quite fast lol. after 15 or so missions I was exhausted of characters blabbering and basically forcing the player to be in between melodrama because the protagonist is mute/ has little to no agency and so on, I was honestly kinda shocked how many times the game requires you to stop for dialogue before getting back to gameplay. I started skipping it. Dramatic character deaths were hilariously drawn out (for characters that the game does nothing to get you to sympathize with or care about). Once I got to the plot points about the orphans I stopped caring entirely because of how much it took me out of the game lol, felt like an anime character talking straight into the camera & explaining their life story across several minutes. This game's plot is an obstacle in the game's way

Sharing a few thoughts that came to my mind as I was watching. People seem to romanticise Armored Core games, especially now in a word where emulation makes exploring older titles easier. However, having been playing AC games on and off for about 25 years, I can say that running them natively on PS2 and PS3 hardware felt terrible. You would think that in a game that demands split second reflexes and perfect tactical response - performance would be the top priority. No such luck. AC gen 2 through gen 5 were riddled with massive framerate drops, stuttering, glitches and scripting issues. The only game in the AC series to actually work well performance-wise is the recent AC6, and that game came out almost 30 years (!) after the first installment. Armored Core earned its fanbase by virtue of being the only game series around to give players a feeling of relative realism in piloting huge mechs, however as complete packages, most of the AC titles are 5/10 games at best, with a few barely reaching the 7/10 mark. Their plot and its delivery largely tends to be a complete afterthought, the gameplay loop is a primitive lego puzzle where your task is to tweak your build to fit a specific set of challenges presented by a mission or by a particular foe. It appeals to a small niche audience, but for most it's simply too boring. With that in mind, Daemon Ex Machina does seem to follow in AC's footsteps in that it is a very average package with more cons than pros. They also did not seem to mention in their marketing that it's actually more of a Zone of the Enders kind of experience than otherwise.
TLDR: neither AC nor DXM deserve much praise.

DxM is my 1rst mecha game and this are my thoughts
    The game playability is fun
However everything else between the game play is not at the level of playability
The script is ok. I mean, it even doesn't have to be good (look at monster hunter) however it was made in a very lazy way:
    - Character comunication made in bubble text and cinematics with poor acting/ performance
    - Lack of good cinematics and when done (mostly characters talking and standing in the same place), they dont inspire anything
    - The operating system (OS) in the game is simple and dull
They could've made it more enjoyable and interesting
(Look at persona 5 for example)
This makes me to don't invest a lot at anything but fighting robots. It feels lifelessness
    - Story: As I said you don't need to have a great story, but in this game you have to read a lot to understand it
Really unnecessary and lazy way to explain and "show" the history
I enjoy playing DxM, but the fact that the only game atractive is fighting robots can make it repetitive and tedious
Is like everytime you wanna eat that tasty hamburger, you have to eat that brocoli/soup that you don't want

so what i m hearing is "This isnt armored core so i dont like it." lol every ac vet plays this game and is sad it isnt a perfect replacement for their game that already has like 9 entries they can play TODAY.

Then get your ears checked. I said I don't like how the mechs feel too homogeneous and the story drags on the the same plot point for way too long to stay compelling.

@@plastron8010 I'll have to agree with the dude, you really sounded like "it isn't AC that's why I don't like it". If your point wasn't actually that, then you should review your own video, because that's the message you're giving.
