FYI Bowser. Most mountaineers and alpinists including professional guides that I know use the Garmin products. They have an excellent altimeter that is much clearer to read and are far more power efficient apparently, an important aspect in cold environments.
Cheers mate, great video, nicely put together. I am about to start pondering this upgrade so nice of the YT peeps to push your video to me. Good luck with the channel, I know how much work you're putting in, subscribed ✌🏻
Good video, I agree can’t go past Garmin for use outside of Starbucks, in the bush for multi day ways / adventures. I’ve see other reviews with similar views or outcomes.
I just ordered the Garmin EPIX PRO sapphire 47mm...am an avid golfer so thats why i went with Garmin..and i wanted an everyday watch....I do like the Ultra but it was the battery life that swayed me....greaat video by the way.....cheers from Canada
To be honest I have always been hesitant to use a Garmin or Apple watch for navigation or simply time keeping, alarms etc. I am concerned that it will run flat and become a ‘piece of metal’ halfway through the trip. I guess that the solution is a good power pack as per your relevant video. At the moment I use a high quality watch with altimeter etc. Thanks for your video. Is yours a solar boosted Garmin?
I can't remember the exact time I started using a watch to navigate. Maybe a bit over 10 years ago but now love my Garmin. Have since sold the apple watch. I do have the solar boosted Fenix 7X Solar. Prior to the fancy mapping watches I had a Suunto with altimeter which i also liked. Still always have to take a map though. I'll never not do that as I just love having a map with me.
The debate on which is the best is easy but hard For me example I got 7x solar & enduro 2 finally AWU My right hand AWU pretty much use to that on my hand Left hand which over garmin not died lol 😅 For my fitness garmin For my contacts/communication & music AWU 🤔 love my garmin more all data you can want But AWU I could be far from home still receive notifications 😂 specially my annoying mother in law she can’t be mad now I’m part of the family haha I need both plus bonus Apple Pay 😎 who needs cash or wallet thanks Apple 😂
Definitely has its advantages! I can foresee in coming years the ultra extending battery life to a point I will be able to take it on my longer trips. I hope!

Did anyone ever told you that on certain camera angle, while you’re talking, you looked and sounded almost like Christian Bale…
