Today I headed out of Bangkok to the Chiang Mai valleys of Mae Rim in search of some authentic northern Thai food. I found some unbelievably goo tom yum noodles, some amazing khao soi and some really good northern Thai coffee.
I really wanted to get away from Chiang Mai old and show you a different side to this beautiful province. If you are heading to Chiang Mai and you love noodles, don't miss these!

Just wanted to say thank you for taking us eating in Thailand every week! We miss Thailand very much and used to spend lots of time there before the world got turned upside down. We were in Thailand during the first lockdown in 2030.
Found your channel through Paddy. He too was an inspiration to us years ago when he was hitchhiking south east Asia. He and his friends “made us” hitchhike from Thailand to Spain and beyond and film it all.
Anyway, really hoping to be able to make it to Thailand soon and try some of the spots where you’ve eaten, especially in Bangkok. /Malin

i'd never liked egg noodles till i was a teenager (now thek're my favorite). i don't know why i didn't like the taste+ smell back then...always preferred wide rice noodles. seeing your son having it with no problem, i really admire him.
Uncooked egg noodles do have a really weird smell! So do wonton wrappers!

Beyond just the food #bantz it was actually really well produced and put together, so well done my son. 2 highlights for me: 1) You sinking the raft like a proper lard arse hahaha as a big unit myself, you got my sympathies there. 2) You: "Helen, what did you think of your pad gaprao?" I’ve been to Thailand before earlier this year and will go again in about a month. Only thing is, I’ve got a peanut allergy and I would love to be able to eat just like you! I’ve got a card made that states my allergy in thai en English so it went alright last time.

Hi Gary, I like Pandan leaves in desserts, but I have never had them in soup broth though. How does it taste? 🤔. Big hug for Finley. He has grown a bit since the ice cream shop appearance, and as adorable as ever!
It was very good. Not noticeable as a flavour in the soup really. Maybe added a little background flavour. My favourite chicken soup lady does the same. Finley is getting so big

On your recommendation, I bicycled from Chiang Mai to Per la Mer for a coffee and blueberry cheesecake today. Delicious. It was my first time there, though I've biked in that neighborhood before, never knowing that it was there. Thanks.

Gary, I was in Chiang Mai a few years ago and had this chicken coriander soup called "yum jin gai". I was wondering if you knew it and more importantly, if you know a spot here in BKK where I can get it. I remember thinking it was one of the best soups I've had here in Thailand, and this is a country with great soups.

if you like thick heavy coconut base curry.. should try southern Malaysian curry in the southern state of Malaysia in Melaka or Seremban goes by ''masak lemak''.. you must try to go there when the world opens up again..
