I've never played any of the Touhou games, but the soundtrack alone makes me want to play them. Too bad I'm too much of a scrub.
Play the fighting games. They're much easier than the main games. Or, if you really want to play the main games, play the 8th game, die several times, and unlock the option to have 7 lives from the start.
Touhou fighting spin-offs are like MH Stories. Yeah, it's nice and easy, but what's the point of it lol
Don't let the apparent difficulty scare you out of some great games! What most of the time is show is the highest difficulties, and it takes a good while to get to that level. There is no shame whatsoever in playing in Easy, especially if you are only starting out- And even then, you shouldn't expect you clear it all on your first try.
8 and 13 are a good starting point. Go ahead, give them a try!
dawk7 i really have no problems with hard games. I played the whole Dark Souls trilogy and loved it, for example. It's just that I really have a hard time with bullet hell kind of games.
It's a different sort of game, mind. It would probably do you some good to see if you can't find a guide- there are certain basic tips to keep in mind, things you kind of do as 'rookie mistakes' that actually harm more than they help (such as focusing exclusively in the character instead of the whole picture, and predicting the path of the bullets) and basic bullet dodging.
If there is something I think is kind of a shame, is that I haven't really seen some sort of... _tutorial_ to the basics of shmups, something playable to show you the ropes. The best you can find is people writing about it, or well, focusing on how others play.
I absolutely love this track. Embodiment of Scarlet Devil was my first Touhou game almost 10 years ago now, so this brings back some good memories~
TH 6 was my first too. I still haven't beat it on normal, I am so bad at them, it's unbelievable.

Now THIS is what should be playing as the final boss battle theme. It just holds the "This is It. It's either her or me, and I'm not planning on dying tonight." Vibe. Yeah, she was only wanting to just walk outside and not get immediate vaporized, but considering how powerful she is, one could see her as wanting to blot out the sun for world domination.
And we both know who nearly died trying to stop her.

I really like this metal arrange! Not only did you keep the regal feeling in the theme but you also portrayed a lot of feelings into it. This really brings out Remilia's true nature as one of the most powerful vampires. This is really overwhelming and it really screams out "THIS IS THE END!" since it's the last boss theme of EoSD. I could listen to this till the day I die!

I love the Mistress with all my heart, but seeing her like that, it was something I couldn’t stand by. Not when her heart never truly wished for the world.
